Hope no-one minds me starting this. Apologies if another has started too. Please can someone add the pretty pictures.

NB Please don’t take this too seriously- it depends what vaccine delivery speed and uptake you estimate so it’s not written in stone.

Please note, this is a thread to share good news and for wobblers to be reassured. Doomploppers will be met with scorn and derision!

I don't actually like jam so I just have clotted cream on its own like a weirdo.

Sorry to hear you are still feeling the effects Fuzzy.

Pomegranatespompom · 23/02/2021 14:54

Oh sorry you feel tired @FuzzyPuffling are you day +4 today? I hope this passes soon.

Shocked re squirty cream. I meant double extra thick, which is passable in absence of clotted imo

nex18 · 23/02/2021 15:05

You get more cream if you go jam first surely? Which makes that the right way IMO!

Truelymadlydeeplysomeonesmum · 23/02/2021 15:14

How on earth do you get jam on top of cream? It would just be a thick lump of jelly squashing the cream😱

TheChineseChicken · 23/02/2021 15:30

Oh, and it's pronounced to rhyme with 'gone'

FuzzyPuffling · 23/02/2021 15:34

Agreed. I really want a cream tea now.
Gratefulrunner · 23/02/2021 15:36

Jam on top of cream - you need a runny not set jam, a jam spoon and just gently spread on top of the cream (which should be clotted or thick, never squirty)
I am now imaging tequila infused cream though ...

Level75 · 23/02/2021 15:44

I've just added scone ingredients plus clotted cream to my online shopping!

It rhymes with gone and the jam goes first.

feelingverylazytoday · 23/02/2021 16:00

This is amazing news. Flu h

feelingverylazytoday · 23/02/2021 16:02

^ Flu has disappeared from the UK, with not a single case detected www.independent.co.uk/news/health/flu-cases-covid-england-phe-latest-b1805124.html?utm_source=reddit.com
It looks as if the massive vaccination programme combined with social distancing paid off.

carolinesbaby · 23/02/2021 16:07

Have to say you're all wrong.

Scones (to rhyme with stones) are best hot from the oven with fresh, proper butter and a dollop of tart lemon curd.

OrangeBananaFish · 23/02/2021 16:20

First of all I really dont know to pronounce scone. I think I alternate, but it is jam first as that is easier to spread and squirty cream on a scone? That's all kinds of wrong.

Flu has disappeared? Forever or just this year?

You are (mostly) my people. Scone to rhyme with gone. Jam then clotted cream.

Might add some to my food shop too...
I'm trying to lose weight but have fallen so far off the wqgon these past two weeks.
My 5yo has had enough and my 5mo is crying all day long 🤪

Pomegranatespompom · 23/02/2021 16:24

@Treaclepie19 I’m trying to lose weight tooo - I’m having another decaf coffee to stem hunger pangs.

@InterfectoremVulpes I can quite see why you reported although I do like lemon curd.
Might have to try on a scone.

Truelymadlydeeplysomeonesmum · 23/02/2021 16:28

Positive cases 8,489
Deaths 548
Still dropping Smile

Hospital admissions and patients in hospital still going down as well Smile

carolinesbaby · 23/02/2021 16:29

Are we expecting the case rate to rise a bit when the schools go back? (Obvs cases don't equal deaths or hospital admissions) or are we expecting that the two week Easter holidays should provide a fire break?

Truelymadlydeeplysomeonesmum · 23/02/2021 16:29

Vaccinations very low numbers this week but Hancock has said it is just for this week. There will be a big bump up in March Grin

Yes, this is fascinating. Imagine if covid meant we eliminated flu? (I know that won't happen but would be mad if it did)

Both I think
Truelymadlydeeplysomeonesmum · 23/02/2021 16:32

Sorry I mean a slight slowing or plateau of cases. At least in the short term. Then Easter used as a fire breaker to get cases to drop again.

Oh, that's good, after yesterday's cases were a bit up
carolinesbaby · 23/02/2021 16:34

Would be slightly annoying if the Covid measures eliminating flu this year is used as an excuse to have restrictions every winter.

truly that's what I thought; Not a rise, just a levelling off for a couple of weeks.

Truelymadlydeeplysomeonesmum · 23/02/2021 16:35

My husband has had the text to book his jabGrin

54 with no underlying health conditions

(Well he has a middle aged man belly but don't think the doctors has weighed him in years. So wouldn't know that)

Ooh that's good news.

How can we find out how different areas are progressing with vaccines? My DH is also 54 but I heard our county is a bit behind other areas.
