How are big state secondary schools going to be able to covid test all students on one day?

CoolKitkat · 21/02/2021 22:48

Why leak it a day early? Every time.

purplebatbear · 21/02/2021 22:48

@studychick81

What do you mean all in doesn't work? My dc went back in September and continued until xmas with no problems. I don't think the jan lockdown was caused by schools.
Seriously? Have you not looked at the ONS data where it shows very very clearly that schools were the main vectors for pushing up transmission rates. The government tried to play this down at the time but the statistics show this to be true
freezingcoldsnow · 21/02/2021 22:49

I'm so pissed off about hairdressers. If it's May, they will be shut for over 4 months. My hairdresser has the same PPE as me in the hospital, is super careful and has 2m between everyone else in the salon. Why are we allowed to do everything else before they open 🤷‍♀️ it's bloody madness.

MummaPI · 21/02/2021 22:49

Totally agree, it's only because we've done it 3 times now. Why does he keep making these mistakes!

PinkFondantFancy · 21/02/2021 22:49

To the poster that claims to speak on behalf of the entire London and SE region, I'm in that region too. My kids were at school and clubs and activities for the whole period from September. Not a single case in any of the children or the adults.

Not sure what my individual anecdote adds but it disagrees with 'everyone was falling down with it'

AllMyPrettyOnes · 21/02/2021 22:49

Eurgh.

scottiedogs · 21/02/2021 22:50

Same here Richard...meeting up with friends and family is no good to us...they are 4 hours away so not seen them for such a long time. One day of Christmas scuppered plans too. I am so fed up.

MrsHuntGeneNotJeremyObviously · 21/02/2021 22:50

I will be massively pissed off if everyone is allowed to go in holiday abroad and it fucks up this year's Christmas because they bring back the SA variant or a new one that doesn't respond to the vaccine!

PinkFondantFancy · 21/02/2021 22:50

Agree @freezingcoldsnow it's absolutely ridiculous that hairdressers are left so late. They go to an enormous amount of effort to be 'safe'. I guess it's because the MPs don't use them....

HopelessBlue192 · 21/02/2021 22:51

@purplebatbear schools or universities? You know, where lots of young people who have been blamed for the spread, move halfway across the country to socialise with lots of different young people?

doubleshotespresso · 21/02/2021 22:51

@Downriver

It was caused by schools. In London and SE everyone I knew with schoolchildren was falling down in December, including me.
This. EXACTLY this. I could scream with frustration at the stupidity of this honestly
YardleyX · 21/02/2021 22:51

Why are people saying back in lockdown by Sept?!?

Have they not noticed the vaccines?

One hour form time at the start of the school day during which each teacher shows the class how to do the swab test and oversees them doing it? Big schools have more teachers surely. Doesn't seem an insurmountable problem to me.
Eccle80 · 21/02/2021 22:52

@RichardMarxisinnocent some of the other paper headlines suggest the stay local message will end on 29th March too

BadMotherLover · 21/02/2021 22:52

I am sick of them all. They are corrupt and incompetent. They need to be arrested and put in prison.

Rockbird · 21/02/2021 22:52

Outdoors all the time. Yippee. Hmm I want to see my mother FFS. Inside. In the warm. Not everyone can cope with walking all the bastard time.

Quartz2208 · 21/02/2021 22:52

Love all the optismism on this thread that vaccines will work and that it is showing signs of slowing anyway because well that is kind of what pandemics do! SOuth Africa has had a huge drop even without vaccines.

But yes about pubs

I'd rather have my once in a lifetime holiday that was moved from last year, than the same old Christmas if I'm brutally honest Confused
GeidiPrimes · 21/02/2021 22:52

I wonder where AA/NA and MH support groups open up. They've only been accessible via zoom since last March.

Have you done a lateral flow test? For thirty tests you would need at least four people to assess the samples in the required time.

Apparently not🤷‍♀️

Parallel universe here sometimes

TangerineGenie · 21/02/2021 22:53

Why on earth are outdoor sports later than schools? It makes no sense, especially when so many involve virtually no contact, tennis, golf etc.

Have you not noticed the mutations?

Totally agree with this! My hairdressers and nail salon are both fully compliant with full PPE, screens, frequent hand sanitizer etc - how many cases of transmissions actually happened in salons? Far safer than shops IME.
