This is a continuation of the previous thread, www.mumsnet.com/Talk/coronavirus/4155962-10-million-people-vaccinated-already-brilliant

This thread is intended as a positive place to discuss our remarkable vaccine rollout as it progresses and to celebrate the ever increasing numbers as we go.

Polite notice: conspiracy theorists, doommongers and those looking for endless debate over vaccine efficacy, leave vs remain or anything else along those lines - this is probably not the thread for you.

So, to pick up from where we left off... a mind-blowing 16,875,536 people in the UK have now received their first dose of the vaccine - that’s 32% (or 1 in every 3.1) of all UK adults.

Every day, hundreds of thousands more people are gaining excellent levels of protection against this sodding virus. So, let’s keep jab jab jabbing our way onwards, upwards and out of this. Covid, we’re coming for ya!!!

@callthevet

I was so pleased that it didn't hurt. I'm a baby with needles and the flu jab hurts me. Everyone told me this wouldn't hurt and I assumed they were just tough nuts. But I genuinely didn't feel it.
A retired work colleague of mine is terrified of needles - she has form for fainting when getting her flu jab. She had her jab a few weeks ago, she rolled up her sleeve and was talking to the nurse to explain that she is prone to fainting (whilst looking the other way as the mere sight of a needle can trigger her).

Next thing she knew the nurse interrupted her and said “All done, off you go!” She genuinely felt nothing.

callthevet · 19/03/2021 19:26

It's really odd isn't it. I wouldn't have believed it if I hadn't experienced it

FannyCann · 19/03/2021 22:39

I didn't feel it at all either! I seriously wondered if I'd actually been given it.

DH had his today. So pleased. (Of course he has a sore arm...).

Some excellent graphics on the gov.uk site.

Had mine today. Literally didn't feel a thing.

buttery81 · 20/03/2021 06:35

At 4pm today we will officially go past the halfway mark with 1st doses!

My parents, both 60 are getting theirs today. Will be a big relief as they can't work from home so they have both worked in contact with the general public throughout this pandemic and all of the lockdowns.

buttery81 · 20/03/2021 10:00

Great news @Kahnajak Smile

I think a Bon Jovi riff with Hugo at 2pm then full blown concert at 4pm. I’ll dig out my recorder. Grin
CaveMum · 20/03/2021 11:53

Whoop! How big do we think it’s going to go?!

750k

Frazzled2207 · 20/03/2021 12:10

Wow. Remember anything over 670k will be more than 1% of entire population. In just a day.

New thread?

Mumoftwoinprimary · 20/03/2021 12:33

The highest we have ever had was the 30th of January with 598k first doses and 11k second doses so 609k altogether.

I really love the idea of 670k plus.

Baileysforchristmas · 20/03/2021 12:36

I had mine today, a lot my friends are having theirs today too.

Bordois · 20/03/2021 12:42

@Truelymadlydeeplysomeonesmum

New thread?
Would you like to do the honours?
WombatChocolate · 20/03/2021 12:52

Last weekend (or perhaps one before) we were predicting how many jabs would have happened by the time the thread ended....I think it ranged from about 25m to 28m. I suppose reported figures for Thursday are the last official figures we have as Friday’s aren’t reported yet, but given it’s lunchtime on Saturday now, I’d think we have gone beyond 27m.

Bordois · 20/03/2021 14:04

Its a big one! Over 699k

Can't help be disappointed its not 700k though 🤣

mum2aanda · 20/03/2021 14:07

Will be over 700k once NI is included 🎉

Bordois · 20/03/2021 14:08

Wait, it doesn't include NI so is likely to be over 700k 😲

Tiktokersmiracle · 20/03/2021 14:10

Yes it was DHs birthday, we went to the pub and played pool and I said "I bet we won't be able to do for a while"
And here we are today on his birthday and he now has to have it in lockdown. He just escaped it last year

PuzzledObserver · 20/03/2021 14:13

Should the new thread reference Bon Jovi?

Bordois · 20/03/2021 14:18

Sorry I did the new thread as we were so close to the end. Happy if another is started referencing Bon Jovi Grin
