This is a continuation of the previous thread, www.mumsnet.com/Talk/coronavirus/4155962-10-million-people-vaccinated-already-brilliant

This thread is intended as a positive place to discuss our remarkable vaccine rollout as it progresses and to celebrate the ever increasing numbers as we go.

Polite notice: conspiracy theorists, doommongers and those looking for endless debate over vaccine efficacy, leave vs remain or anything else along those lines - this is probably not the thread for you.

So, to pick up from where we left off... a mind-blowing 16,875,536 people in the UK have now received their first dose of the vaccine - that’s 32% (or 1 in every 3.1) of all UK adults.

Every day, hundreds of thousands more people are gaining excellent levels of protection against this sodding virus. So, let’s keep jab jab jabbing our way onwards, upwards and out of this. Covid, we’re coming for ya!!!

Dd who is 29 but CV has just called me to tell me that she has her vaccine next week. That means that my Dh, ds, dd, sil and I will have had our vaccines and only my ds who lives in Thailand won’t at the moment but I think he is less at risk there than here.

PilatesPeach · 18/03/2021 14:46

I am wondering if some of the 2nd jabs will be rearranged - not necessarily later but the hub where I had mine in January will be having some closures - no idea when yet but some time in the next 4 weeks so wondering if we might have to go there on a different day but within the 12 weeks still or go elsewhere on the same day as the 2nd dose is currently booked for. My 2nd dose is booked for 1st April, 2 weeks today.

@Paddy1234

We have an outbreak of 30 residents and staff in one of our facilities - ALL ASYMPTOMATIC - isn't that fantastic news. Proof that vaccination programme is working Smile
That's brilliant!

581,855 new vaccine doses registered in 🇬🇧 yesterday

Incredible!!!

Wow! doesn't that work out at almost 3% of the non-vaccinated population!

Racoonworld · 18/03/2021 16:20

I had mine yesterday, the vaccine centre was incredibly busy so not surprised it is a high number!

DdraigGoch · 18/03/2021 16:41

@Smoodle

Daft question but I'm presuming that those who are 49 at the moment will become eligible to book as soon as they turn 50?? Thinking of DH here who will be 50 in the middle of April which comes at the time when they've said they won't be doing as many 1st jabs.
Should work, a friend who was 59 went with his wife who was 60 on the off-chance and was turned away (to the annoyance of the nurses who said that they had spare doses). When he turned 60 his letter came through quickly.

It is fantastic, yes Smile

But also a reminder to the vaccinated that they still need to be careful with SD etc, especially around unvaccinated people, as there is some risk that they could pass it on, even though asymptomatic.

In other news, DH had his second jab today Grin

The gov covid dashboard now shows vaccine uptake - each square represents 1% and there's also a data table that shows exact percentages Smile

I like thatGrin
Motorina · 18/03/2021 22:33

I really like that.

I reckon it's entirely possible that tomorrow's figures will take us over the 50% mark for first doses. If not, then the day after. Amazing stuff.

@Bordois what a fabulous graphic, thank you!

Had my first jab today. Vaccine centre very busy, with a positive vibe. Relieved to have had it (and get a sticker!)

Dementedswan · 19/03/2021 10:18

I feel shortchanged as I didn't get a sticker 🤣 hope they give me one after jab two!

EasterIssland · 19/03/2021 10:32

WHAT!!! Where is my sticker!! I didn’t get one :(
UserEleventyNine · 19/03/2021 12:22

Were you vaccinated at a gp hub? I think they might not be giving out stickers. No-one I know who had it done via the gp got one. I wanted one, and didn't get one!

bathsh3ba · 19/03/2021 12:32

I was vaccinated at a national vaccine centre. They attached the sticker to the leaflet etc they give you. I've put it on my phone case!

Paddy1234 · 19/03/2021 12:38

I didn't get a sticker. I want a sticker. End of.

Truelymadlydeeplysomeonesmum · 19/03/2021 12:38

I can take just about the vaccine first doses slowing down next month. However if they run out of sticker we should protest outside parliament

bathsh3ba · 19/03/2021 12:39

The sticker is strangely effective...

Dementedswan · 19/03/2021 12:54

Ah I had mine at the local GP hub... might drop them a friendly email and ask for a sticker 🤣

SaskiaRembrandt · 19/03/2021 13:18

I had my first jab this morning - didn't get a sticker though, I feel cheated Grin

EasterIssland · 19/03/2021 14:00

copy this from the good news thread
‘Hugo Gye
@HugoGye
647,378 new vaccines registered in Flag of United Kingdom yesterday (ex NI)

Flag of England 451,465 1st doses / 104,609 2nd doses
Flag of Scotland 43,458 / 9,335
Flag of Wales 23,946 / 14,565’

Wonder how many of these people got stickers yesterday

Absy · 19/03/2021 14:07

I had my first dose this morning. It was super busy (vaccination centre) but they were super efficient and also when elderly people arrived they moved them to the trot of the queue. I think they were all getting second doses. I got quite emotional, this sense of relief and that it’s finally going to be over.
