This is a continuation of the previous thread, www.mumsnet.com/Talk/coronavirus/4155962-10-million-people-vaccinated-already-brilliant

This thread is intended as a positive place to discuss our remarkable vaccine rollout as it progresses and to celebrate the ever increasing numbers as we go.

Polite notice: conspiracy theorists, doommongers and those looking for endless debate over vaccine efficacy, leave vs remain or anything else along those lines - this is probably not the thread for you.

So, to pick up from where we left off... a mind-blowing 16,875,536 people in the UK have now received their first dose of the vaccine - that’s 32% (or 1 in every 3.1) of all UK adults.

Every day, hundreds of thousands more people are gaining excellent levels of protection against this sodding virus. So, let’s keep jab jab jabbing our way onwards, upwards and out of this. Covid, we’re coming for ya!!!

@EasterIssland

does it? it asks me whether I had mine In the last 7 days and if so to insert the dates. and after that I get appointments for 12w+
I'll check again in case I misread something. It asked if I'd had a flu vaccine recently or if I have one booked iirc.
Bordois · 09/03/2021 17:04

Yes, I had misread 🤣 it came up saying "appointments over the next 5 days" but was actually for the timeframe my second jab was due - is misread May for Mar. So I'm all booked for my second now as well 😁

buttery81 · 09/03/2021 22:26

We’re officially over 22.5 million - waaahooo! Let’s get to 23 million now. The numbers normally start ramping up from Wednesday onwards! Grin

Also, the first of these threads was started two months ago yesterday on 8th Jan. At that point, 1.5 million people had been vaccinated with their 1st dose. Today, just two months later, that figure is 22.5 million! Smile

So today purportedly is the beginning of the big ramp up - anyone care to suggest what that means for numbers? I think we may see 2nd doses over 100K daily, then obviously ramping up as they pick up the increasing number of 1st doses from the start of January onwards. But I think they will cap 1st doses at 500K.

Shame we will have to wait till tomorrow to see.

@Truelymadlydeeplysomeonesmum

London's Science Museum will reopen as an NHS vaccination centre this week - enabling thousands of Londoners to receive their Covid-19 jab in the historic building Star
Right, that’s where I’m getting mine if humanly possible. Far easier to get to and more fun than the Excel Centre.
AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 10/03/2021 11:21

When I was booking through the NHS website they offered me a choice of several venues within about fifteen miles of where I live, so it might be quite easy to do. Crossed fingers for you!

herecomesthsun · 10/03/2021 12:04

DH is now added to the total. We dropped the kids off at their schools (!)and then rocked up to the vaccination centre with a load of Easter-themed Celebrations. Very well organised, it was.

AnnPerkins · 10/03/2021 14:37

The vax centre where I volunteer is ramping up from Monday 15th. They're going from 350/day 3-5 days a week to 700/day 7 days a week. They're only increasing opening hours from 8 to 12 hours a day so it's going to be much busier.

They're actually short of volunteers for next week's rota; up to this week they've had more volunteers than shifts available.

Dementedswan · 10/03/2021 14:55

I've had mine today Smile

Bordois · 10/03/2021 14:59

The one I volunteered at was only open on mon and tues if this week but will be opening 7 days a week 8am - 8pm from 15th

StarcourtMall · 10/03/2021 15:24

My DD with learning disabilities was vaccinated today! Now patiently waiting for DH and myself (47 and 45)

PuzzledObserver · 10/03/2021 17:08

Great to hear those plans for the 15th from @AnnPerkins and @Bordois. I’ll be patient a bit longer. Today’s was the highest 2nd dose total, though, wasn’t it?

DH has an appointment for his second jab next Thursday. He has to go to “Vaccine Centre Number 2” at Coventry University Hospital. Apparently it’s a portacabin in the car park, but vaccine centre number 2 sounds much posher.

DdraigGoch · 10/03/2021 17:32

217,301 1st doses.
72,922 2nd doses.
290,223 in total.
5% up on last week.
Best ever second dose count.

Bordois · 11/03/2021 15:16

From Hugo Gye

277,680 additional vaccine doses registered in England yesterday (206,720 1st doses, 70,960 2nd doses)

25,315 in Scotland

30,439 in Wales

So thats 333,434 with NI to come!

FannyCann · 11/03/2021 16:01

On line booking still saying age 55 or over.
DH 54 got a text from the surgery today and has booked appointment for 19th. Smile

FannyCann · 11/03/2021 16:02

Great progress being made.

EasterIssland · 11/03/2021 16:03

1st 243,887
2nd 97,162 whoop whoop

First dose total
23,053,716
second First dose total
1,351,515

EasterIssland · 11/03/2021 16:05

the 2nd doses are really ramping up, for a long time spain (where I'm from) was really ahead of us in full vaccination, and now we're just around 100k behind,

Frazzled2207 · 11/03/2021 16:12

@EasterIssland
We'll catch up quickly at this rate. My parents (early 70s) have had their 2nd today.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 11/03/2021 16:18

One of our local centers has put up a message about a big ramp up, next week with extended hours and jumping from 2 days x week to 5 days x week. Its exciting!

PuzzledObserver · 11/03/2021 16:23

I bet no-one will give me attractive odds on second doses exceeding 100K tomorrow. It's too much of a dead cert!
