This is a continuation of the previous thread, www.mumsnet.com/Talk/coronavirus/4155962-10-million-people-vaccinated-already-brilliant

This thread is intended as a positive place to discuss our remarkable vaccine rollout as it progresses and to celebrate the ever increasing numbers as we go.

Polite notice: conspiracy theorists, doommongers and those looking for endless debate over vaccine efficacy, leave vs remain or anything else along those lines - this is probably not the thread for you.

So, to pick up from where we left off... a mind-blowing 16,875,536 people in the UK have now received their first dose of the vaccine - that’s 32% (or 1 in every 3.1) of all UK adults.

Every day, hundreds of thousands more people are gaining excellent levels of protection against this sodding virus. So, let’s keep jab jab jabbing our way onwards, upwards and out of this. Covid, we’re coming for ya!!!

People on another thread are saying the booking system is letting 55 year olds book today 🥳

Moving quickly Grin

TheWoollybacksWife · 08/03/2021 13:08

My 55 year old DH booked his vaccinations this morning 🎉🎉🎉

limpingparrot · 08/03/2021 13:53

my 55 yr old mum booked today, whereas she couldn't yesterday :)

PuzzledObserver · 08/03/2021 16:19

164, 143 1st, making 22,377,255
20,241, making 1,142,163

Seems a bit low.... can anyone offer me encouragement?

DdraigGoch · 08/03/2021 16:23

@PuzzledObserver the ramp-up is supposed to start on Wednesday. Have patience.

EasterIssland · 08/03/2021 16:27

Mondays values have been low in the last few weeks I believe

buttery81 · 08/03/2021 16:27

Is that this Wednesday, @DdraigGoch?

@PuzzledObserver On days like this I remind myself that although the numbers are a bit lower than we’ve become accustomed to, there are STILL 164,143 more people than yesterday who are now protected (or very soon will be once immunity has kicked in). Which is wonderful when you think about it!

I have my second on Thursday and other half booked 1st for Saturday

35 times more people had their first jab than tested positive.

DdraigGoch · 08/03/2021 21:20

@buttery81 I think so

PuzzledObserver · 08/03/2021 22:46

Good one, @Duchesss! I also just noticed that on the Covidvax.live site, we have now passed 33.333% of the population vaccinated. We should see that official tomorrow.

I can be patient till Wednesday, @DdraigGoch

DdraigGoch · 09/03/2021 07:07

You may need to be patient until Thursday as that is when Wednesday's figures get announced.

PuzzledObserver · 09/03/2021 08:39

Nope, can’t do that, sorry.

(kidding!)

London's Science Museum will reopen as an NHS vaccination centre this week - enabling thousands of Londoners to receive their Covid-19 jab in the historic building Star

wow. Exactly a year ago yesterday we took the kids to the science museum. There was a strange mood in London that day - nobody quite knew what was coming. Other than a mini holiday by the seaside in August, it was the last time I actually went anywhere.
Bordois · 09/03/2021 14:10

So I goy my jab yesterday whilst volunteering 🥳

When would be the best time for me to call up about booking my 2nd jab? I was thinking in about 8-10 weeks time?

I saw that and I have to say I was wondering how I could engineer (;-)) my vax there! There is no chance given where I live, but...cool.

I've got the same doubt as I got it through volunteering as well :) my in laws had theirs at the same place beginning of feb so I'll see what they're being told. as I will do few more volunteering I'll ask anyway
PuzzledObserver · 09/03/2021 15:05

I think someone posted a while ago that there is a recall system for 2nd jabs. Don't call them, they'll call you....

I've just had my first jab & went on to the NHS site yesterday to see if I could book my 2nd - I could, for the end of May.
EasterIssland · 09/03/2021 15:26

Thanks @ScribblingPixie I can actually book as well!

Bordois · 09/03/2021 15:51

Ah, its letting me book too although it only has appointments for the next 10 days showing so I will check back in a few weeks 😊

EasterIssland · 09/03/2021 16:12

does it? it asks me whether I had mine In the last 7 days and if so to insert the dates. and after that I get appointments for 12w+

EasterIssland · 09/03/2021 16:12
