This is a continuation of the previous thread, www.mumsnet.com/Talk/coronavirus/4155962-10-million-people-vaccinated-already-brilliant

This thread is intended as a positive place to discuss our remarkable vaccine rollout as it progresses and to celebrate the ever increasing numbers as we go.

Polite notice: conspiracy theorists, doommongers and those looking for endless debate over vaccine efficacy, leave vs remain or anything else along those lines - this is probably not the thread for you.

So, to pick up from where we left off... a mind-blowing 16,875,536 people in the UK have now received their first dose of the vaccine - that’s 32% (or 1 in every 3.1) of all UK adults.

Every day, hundreds of thousands more people are gaining excellent levels of protection against this sodding virus. So, let’s keep jab jab jabbing our way onwards, upwards and out of this. Covid, we’re coming for ya!!!

@InterfectoremVulpes

231002 first and 44001 second doses given in England yesterday
❤💉💉💉
Comefromaway · 04/03/2021 15:36

Just over 40% of residents in my town have been vaccinated.

NHS England weekly stats published to 28th Feb. 1st dose has gone to:

95% of over-80s

100% of 75-79
95% of 70-74
85% of 65-69
21% of under-65s

93% of frontline NHS staff
88% of clinically extremely vulnerable
91% of older care residents
71% of care staff

Amazing stats 👏 👌 🙌
PuzzledObserver · 04/03/2021 15:47

They are amazing stats.

Just hoping that more care staff take it in time. I’ve seen what can happen in a care home when the virus gets in Sad. I know 91% of care home residents are vaccinated, but that leaves 9% who aren’t.

That is very impressive ❤
Truelymadlydeeplysomeonesmum · 04/03/2021 15:59

Yes the care home staff numbers are a little worrying. I do think they will improve in time. People wanting to visit family or holiday abroad etc

Germany is approving AZ for all ages and changing policy to a 12 week gapGrin

PuzzledObserver · 04/03/2021 16:04

Looks like we could pass 1 million 2nd doses tomorrow. Worth a fanfare, I think.

EasterIssland · 04/03/2021 16:27

todays seconds doses are higher than yesterday! 68k

Imfedupwithallofthis · 04/03/2021 16:27

The official dashboard gives first doses as 278,956, second doses as 68,450.
Fantastic!

EasterIssland · 04/03/2021 16:29

and we should do 30m tomorrow! seems like we have done the 20m group quite quick despite the low numbers

Do you mean 21m? I don’t think we’ll do 9m tomorrow however optimistic! Grin
Mumoftwoinprimary · 04/03/2021 17:14

Yes - tomorrow is going to be a great day with 21m first doses and 1m second doses!

We will also almost certainly fall below 1750 for deaths in the last week which means less than 250 per day.

And if that doesn’t give us all “Friday feeling” I don’t know what will!

CaveMum · 04/03/2021 17:42

Fantastic numbers so far, but we’re greedy and WE WANT MORE!

Sorry not having the best days so my maths are out of the place @GeorgieTheGorgeousGoat. I was so surprised about doing 30m Grin

Group 8 (55-59) just opened up in my area of Somerset. Wouldn't let me book yesterday but today offered me appointments from Tues 16 March onwards. Yippee!

So it's worth checking regularly.

That’s so cool! I’m in Bristol so wonder whether it’ll open here as well. Congrats
Truelymadlydeeplysomeonesmum · 05/03/2021 10:29

It definitely shows that people should keep checking regularly

I keep checking for myself ... and I’m only 36. Wishful thinking Grin
User27aw · 05/03/2021 10:34

Does anyone know whether they open the booking system to the next age group on a national level , by council area level or by surgery?
Im late 40s and very keen to have my jab!

If this happens in my area and I am allowed to book, would I get problems if my letter didn't come before vaccination appointment? I don't want to get turned away.

WombatChocolate · 05/03/2021 11:05

No, you don’t need a letter. If the system lets you book it’s fine. Chances are that as most bookings via national system are up to 2 weeks off, you’ll have letter by then anyway, but the letters lag being able to book by a few days to over 10 days it seems.

lurker101 · 05/03/2021 11:12

Silly point here - everyone that is regularly checking for their slot to open on the national booking site - please remember to clear your “cache” or use your browser’s incognito setting. This will avoid you being told you’re not eligible from a previous visit that is being retrieved from cache and not refreshed, if you are now eligible.
