This is a continuation of the previous thread, www.mumsnet.com/Talk/coronavirus/4155962-10-million-people-vaccinated-already-brilliant

This thread is intended as a positive place to discuss our remarkable vaccine rollout as it progresses and to celebrate the ever increasing numbers as we go.

Polite notice: conspiracy theorists, doommongers and those looking for endless debate over vaccine efficacy, leave vs remain or anything else along those lines - this is probably not the thread for you.

So, to pick up from where we left off... a mind-blowing 16,875,536 people in the UK have now received their first dose of the vaccine - that’s 32% (or 1 in every 3.1) of all UK adults.

Every day, hundreds of thousands more people are gaining excellent levels of protection against this sodding virus. So, let’s keep jab jab jabbing our way onwards, upwards and out of this. Covid, we’re coming for ya!!!

Also a big milestone: 50% of adults having had one jab.

Then we get to repeat our countdown through various milestones for jab 2.

It's great :)

Motorina · 24/02/2021 20:38

Two weeks ago, we had just crossed the 20 vaccines/100 people threshold. All those will have their immunity kicking in in the next few days at the latest. 20% of the population (and the most vulnerable 20% at that) is now effectively safe from hospitalisation and death due to covid.

PuzzledObserver · 24/02/2021 21:12

@chocolo I think the next big milestone is all of groups 1-9 done, for which the target is 15th April.

Karmatime · 24/02/2021 21:18

DP and I got a text from GP today asking us to book at mass vac centre. We are 56 and 55, not CV or carers so group 8! Big surprise, we are booked tomorrow, hope it’s not a mistake......

❤Brilliant

My husband is 54 and got the text to book this week. So you should be fine.

This shows vaccinations so far. Total percentage of population includes children. So not accurate for the current schedule but a lovely visual Smile

Thanks Countess.

That's interesting. Hopefully the vaccine calculator will reset my timing for first jab back to April again once deliveries of vaccines improve.

buttery81 · 25/02/2021 07:22

That’s lovely Truely, thanks!

@PuzzledObserver Am I right in thinking there’s 32 million in total in groups 1-9?

For me the next major milestone is the big 20 million. I remember being ecstatic when we hit 10, and now 20 is well within in our sights! Grin

Also, if we didn’t start vaccinating in really big numbers until early January, I suppose that means it’ll be early April by the time the second doses need to really start ramping up?

PuzzledObserver · 25/02/2021 08:31

@buttery81 if you add up the numbers in groups 1-9 it is just shy of 32 million, but some people are double counted, or even triple counted - a healthcare worker over 50 with diabetes, for example, is in groups 2 and 6 as well as their age group.

herecomesthsun · 25/02/2021 10:46

oh ok. I probably add up on at least 4 different counts then. The people who gave me the vaccine did seem a bit surprised at the number of boxes they were ticking!

Boulshired · 25/02/2021 12:13

I have to drive past the closest hub every Tuesday and Thursday and the queues and the parking problems are back. It was a rare occasion that I was glad to be stuck in traffic unlike Tuesday when it was empty.

psychomath · 25/02/2021 13:27

My mum is getting hers today! 🎉🎉 Thank you @PuzzledObserver for telling me she could book online! I want to know which one she's getting, but only for curiosity because I know both are really good.

Now I can start the countdown for my dad Smile He's in Group 7 so shouldn't be too long.

Frazzled2207 · 25/02/2021 13:43

@richard on Twitter has just posted this useful chart of how Az is rapidly catching up in terms of cumulative administered doses. Will overtake Pfizer in the next few days

And thanks very much for this Boulshired - a small but significant detail! Smile

Last night In the news they said SW is 35% vaccinated or so.
A colleague close to my age (middle 30s) has had his today, apparently the rollout in Bristol is going faster than expected so they've started vaccinating under 65s .

Cant wait for my call!

AllAroundTheWrekin · 25/02/2021 14:17

The NHS link still says over 64.

Why on earth are they not updating it if the over 60's are being cleared to apply? It's so confusing.

moonlight1705 · 25/02/2021 14:20

I'm in group 6 and have mine booked in for tomorrow morning. DH is a teacher and 10 years older than me, he is gutted that he won't have his for a while.

bungobango · 25/02/2021 14:20

I went to my gp surgery to be positively surprised how many people they were jabbing. It looked really efficient. I was expecting quiet surgery and AstraZeneca vaccine because of small surgery. I got Pfizer and was in and out in 20 mins.

TheWoollybacksWife · 25/02/2021 14:24

This is such an oasis of positivity. All of my siblings are vaccinated now - just me to go in Group 9.

Can I ask a logistics question please? It looks like the NHS site is allowing bookings for Group 7 and Group 6 is being coordinated by GPs. Does that mean that the NHS site will in time open up to Group 8 while Group 6 is still being done by GPs or will the two groups run in parallel until G7 is complete and then the hubs will pick up bookings for G6? Looking at the G7 numbers they could be through them in a week or so.

AllAroundTheWrekin · 25/02/2021 14:26

It's terrible. He should get it now. Can't understand why not. I do hope he gets it soon.

AllAroundTheWrekin · 25/02/2021 14:27

I'm in group 9 and feel very strongly that teachers & police etc should get it ahead of me.

buttery81 · 25/02/2021 14:30

Over 400,000 vaccinated yesterday

Wowowow! Thanks @AlecTrevelyan006. Looking forward to today’s official figure even more now!
