Menstrual changes after AZ vaccine?

NLM20 · 18/02/2021 19:56

Has anybody had any changes in period dates after their vaccine?
Mine came two weeks after the first!
Could be stress I suppose and was just wondering if anybody else had it? It’s not a listed side effect so I’m assuming it’s unrelated!

Mine hasn't turned up either. I had the AZ jab 2 weeks ago , period was due 4 days after vaccination.

VenetoResident · 31/03/2021 11:39

I started bleeding a week after the jab (had only just finished a period) so around the time I usually ovulate. This next period seems to have turned up about 10 days early so perhaps my cycle has reset. I've also had a lot of 'old blood' when I've wiped throughout the last few weeks.

I'm also low carbing, increasing my exercise levels and moving house. All issues which have historically affected my cycle dates. I'm also bedding in a new coil - 4 months old.

38, almost 39 and ttc dc1, history of mc and autoimmune issues so not risking the vaccine for now. I am also avoiding covid as well! I am interested in this as plan to have it after (hopefully) pregnancy but would like a second DC if it is possible.

Veneto Funny you should mention old blood.
The first day mine was black, I've never had that ever.

Darker menstrual blood can sometimes indicate an anovulatory cycle.

Update; my period lasted 18 days in the end. Usually it’s 4-5 days.

I’m going to yellow card it.

therestissilence · 01/04/2021 01:55

My mum (many years post-menopause) has been bleeding since having AstraZeneca. Could just be a crazy, if unsettling, coincidence of course.

Magic1231 · 01/04/2021 22:13

Also not sure if I mentioned, but along with coming on early after the vaccine, I came over really faint and had to shout out to my mum for help. This was 4 days after the vaccine, so whether it was a bad combo of side effects and pms I dont know, but I cant even remember the last time Ive come over like that xxx

I'm on day 9 now, usually 3-4 days.

I’m 31 and had the AZ vaccine. Mine came 6 days late and heavier. Definitely to do with vaccine xx

bathsh3ba · 02/04/2021 10:10

Mine came at the usual time, give or take a couple of days

Todaytomorrowyesterday · 02/04/2021 10:26

Bodies are weird things I had a brain haemorrhage when I was in my 20’s my periods stopped & didn’t return till around 6 months later- it was if it it knew it would be pointless! I remember being terrified if I did have a period as I initially had limited mobility but my body just paused.
I wonder if it’s similar the body reacts in a certain way? Mind you everyone told me if you breastfeed you periods would be delayed......4 weeks post birth I realised they lied!!!

I’ve not idea! I had the AZ and everything is on time for me !

fizbosshoes · 02/04/2021 10:31

I'm early 40s and after having no period for 3 months during lockdown last year, now they seem to have a mind of their own - and they nearly always come "early" so my cycle is more like 17-21 days now Confused.
But I have read another thread on MN where women reported their periods came early after having the vaccine.

EnglishRain · 02/04/2021 10:39

This is so interesting. I'm breastfeeding snd haven't had a period since having DD. Wonder if my vaccine will have affected that in any way...

TheSmallAssassin · 02/04/2021 11:37

I've had my period early too. Mine have been getting further and further apart, from being 28 days regular as clockwork. Previous period (after 51 days) started the day I had the jab, and then another one yesterday, after 23 days. Feels like it's heavier than usual, but difficult to tell as I couldn't be bothered to use my Mooncup.

ConquestEmpireHungerPlague · 02/04/2021 15:36

@therestissilence

She should get that checked out, as it could reasonably be unrelated. Post menopausal bleeding can be an indication of more serious issues.

Itisasecret · 03/04/2021 08:30

I’m late. I have pains like my period wants to start but it just won’t.

39 and sterilised I have had my tubes clipped for a decade so I don’t think I’m pregnant.

Bugsy73 · 03/04/2021 16:59

I think I pretty much missed a period following my vaccine, (8 weeks between them), went on to have a really heavy one, 4 weeks on now and have started my period today and it seems pretty normal.

PinkSparklyPussyCat · 03/04/2021 18:33

Is anyone who is having problems with their cycle on the pill? If so, do you just carry on taking it as normal (I run 3-4 packs back to back) and have your next break when it's due? I get so ill when I have my period that I'm worried I'll end up with a messed up cycle and more periods!

BoKatan · 03/04/2021 21:54
  1. Had no periods for months (Morena). Got jabbed a week ago. Aunty Flo turned up today.
BoKatan · 03/04/2021 21:56

Mirena. No idea who Morena is.

SusannaMorvern · 03/04/2021 22:05

Women's cycles have been going to hell during lockdown, even without the vaccine.

AmongTheMultitude · 21/04/2021 19:42

My period came as a shock, being period-free for 10 months plus being 50 years old. It came - with a vengeance - 11 days after my first jab (AZ). It was heavy and longer than usual. I also experienced emotional side effects (thankfully only for the first 1-2 days) such as despair and hopelessness - which is out of character. I felt like I was hit by a truck. It was fascinating in that it was very intense but I knew it would pass. It certainly gave me a deep sense of compassion for people who struggle with depression regularly. Not sure the dark emotions were linked to my spontaneous and heavy period - that happened after my jab - but I can't think of another good reason. I certainly don't feel that way normally, not even throughout lockdown, and I also didn't get my period until after the jab. As far as I'm concerned, I'm menopausal. So hmmm. 🤨 Not feeling confident about getting my 2nd jab till someone figures this out - clearly there's a pattern emerging but the people in charge aren't talking about it.

Dm is reporting a study will be done related to this
