Menstrual changes after AZ vaccine?

NLM20 · 18/02/2021 19:56

Has anybody had any changes in period dates after their vaccine?
Mine came two weeks after the first!
Could be stress I suppose and was just wondering if anybody else had it? It’s not a listed side effect so I’m assuming it’s unrelated!

Very unlikely to be related

MrsTerryPratchett · 19/02/2021 02:40

Peri-menopause did that to me.

Just saying.

Yup. Same here. Went from clockwork to craziness. And it got worse.

NLM20 · 19/02/2021 07:15

Thanks. I had Gynae checks recently which didn’t show anything sinister. I just asked as when I googled apparently in Israel, some women have reported it

I guess time will tell if it’s just me or if any other woman reports it!

Everyone is different. My normal flu vaccine for last few years has always trigger my period early by 7-14 days and my cycle is usually heavy. Next cycle goes back to normal.
Haven't got covid vaccine yet so can't comment.
I do normally suffer from hormonal disorder so I have always assumed this to be behind my usual flu vaccine side effects.

It’s weird I’m group six and was able to book through the nhs link and I told some family it was working, and it has worked for some too. Not sure why or why not.
They should really state when group six can self book

Sorry wrong thread!

I know two women who said covid changed their period. Maybe the vaccine would have similar side effects that covid have had on them.

Kathy2020 · 19/02/2021 20:49

That’s strange you mention that; I got the AZ vaccine on Tuesday and my periods arrived today 4days early
(I know it’s only 4 days but my periods are regular as clockwork)

Jemtully · 19/02/2021 20:51

I had az last Friday & came on on Wednesday, 2 weeks early!!

Frankinmachine · 19/02/2021 20:56

Covid completely changed my cycle for months, so it may be that the vaccine also has an affect?

JS87 · 19/02/2021 21:01

Not necessarily a reliable source but it makes sense immune system changes can affect your menstrual cycle. The covid vaccines seem to induce quite strong immune responses based on lots of people having side effects so it makes sense that it might temporarily affect your cycle. Hopefully it will be back to normal next month.

ViciousJackdaw · 19/02/2021 21:02

Maybe the body just thinks 'Eek, virus! Best not waste energy on eggs and/or linings this month'

Mwnci123 · 19/02/2021 21:15

That's interesting. My period came early after Pfizer jab.

DenisetheMenace · 19/02/2021 21:17

Sorry, no polite way of asking this. How old are you?

Bear in mind that Israel is pfizer so a completely different vaccine to yours

I had the pfizer and bled for 3 days, starting the day after the jab, for the first time in over a year (on the pill).

Microwavingramen · 19/02/2021 21:40

A change of water can trigger your period. I always had it when I visited my grandparents. They must have thought there was something wrong with me. So I think this could totally happen based on my anecdotal, evidence-based research.

DenisetheMenace · 19/02/2021 22:48

Thanks for answering my rude, personal question!

Was going to say if you were older probably coincidence but at 40, nothing whatsoever to add 😊

Bugsy73 · 19/02/2021 22:57

I had the AZ 3 weeks ago and my period is a week late! I'm 47 though so had assumed entering the next phase of things Shock, but maybe the vaccine has knocked things off kilter? I did have some side effects and felt off it for a bout a week afterwards.

lockdownconfused · 19/02/2021 23:03

I had my jab Az last Friday my period arrived Wednesday 8 days early I did wonder if it was linked?

This sounds logical! I mean I’m not bothered about an earlier period due to it, I just I wonder if others are like me and thinking what happened there.

Same timing as me and OP I've reported it as a side effect on yellow card.
