Menstrual changes after AZ vaccine?

NLM20 · 18/02/2021 19:56

Has anybody had any changes in period dates after their vaccine?
Mine came two weeks after the first!
Could be stress I suppose and was just wondering if anybody else had it? It’s not a listed side effect so I’m assuming it’s unrelated!

I had the Pfizer vaccine, ovulated around that time and no change except I've had a chemical pregnancy this week. I assume it's just a coincidence, nothing to do with the jab, I implanted late and it wasn't a goer. Back to TTC!

I had long covid, and had unusual bleeding about 2 months in, which I had to get tested for. Not sure if that is relevant to this thread or not.

lightand · 20/02/2021 09:52

Should have added I am past menopause, so it was concerning at the time. It hasnt come back since, thankfully.

lightand · 20/02/2021 09:53

Sorry, should also have added that I have not had any jab. I am not old enough and have no underlying health conditions.

My periods went like that aged 40. Was perimenopause and I had early menopause. Hopefully yours will return to normal soon and it’s just stress or something.

Thankyou. I will look into it and ask what checks I can do as I’m hoping to ttc after my second dose of vaccine!

How are people doing on this thread now?

Msmcc1212 · 27/02/2021 08:27

Please report the changes. Your GP will report it for you you should have been given information about reporting different side effects. All the information the developers can get helps. Even if it’s only to put it on the list of possible side effects so others don’t worry. Smile

How weird you all say this - I had my AZ jab two weeks ago , my period came a couple of days later , about ten days early. Does make you wonder .

lightand · 28/02/2021 07:36

Wonder what will happen next month.

Mumof3andlovingit · 28/02/2021 07:43

I had the Pfizer vaccine on Friday and periods came a week early. Very unusual for me to be early.

Thimbleberries · 28/02/2021 09:14

On the other hand, I've had almost no periods for several months now, or very sporadic bits of bleeding, and have felt perimenopausal.

My first proper period in ages started on Friday, about half an hour before I had my first dose of the vaccine. If I hadn't noticed then or it had been slightly delays, I might have assumed that it was something to do with the vaccine. It wasn't. It could have been stress, relief, or some other factor, I don't know, or just total coincidence.

WendyTestaburger · 04/03/2021 11:07

I've had the Pfizer 10 days ago and thought I had zero side effects. Now I'm 5 days late for my period and suffering horrendous pmt. I don't know whether it's related or whether it is the start of peri menopause (I'm 40).

Magic1231 · 07/03/2021 22:40

I was just about to post about this, not sure if just a coincidence but I've come on my period very early. I had the vaccine on Wednesday xxx

anappleadaykeeps · 08/03/2021 00:37

Yes, mine came about 4-5 days early, after AZ jab.

MangoM · 10/03/2021 22:00

This is all very interesting, and the first time I've heard about the covid jabs affecting the cycle ... I'm booked in for my jab in two days time (Friday) and am due my period next Wednesday so I'll report back if anything unusual happens.

mrsnw · 11/03/2021 07:45

Had my vaccine last months and my period is now a week late. I'm usually pretty regular but take hrt. Who knows!

AbsentmindedWoman · 11/03/2021 19:26

I had Moderna just over a week ago and now my period is early. I'm NEVER early!

HadaVerde · 15/03/2021 22:32

Had the Pfizer vaccine. Period was 4 days late a week after the jab. Longer and heavier and 5 days after the end of it I am having spotting like lochia.

Greyingmumto3 · 15/03/2021 23:04

This is interesting. I had my jab (AstraZeneca)just over a month ago . I had my normal period shortly after but then another one two weeks later .
I am 45 and have a lot of peri menopause symptoms so I was putting it down to that

Bluenightowl · 16/03/2021 01:25

I wonder when this is rolled out to under 40s will it affect those TTC?

Girlmama3 · 16/03/2021 06:01

For those with period changes following the vaccine, are you yellow carding it? I would think that’s a side effect they need to know about?

HadaVerde · 16/03/2021 15:10

I’m going to see how it pans out before I do. To give a full picture.
ConquestEmpireHungerPlague · 16/03/2021 16:00

This is so interesting and the sort of data that would be really hard to gather anywhere except MN. It's as if the immune response is having the same effect on hormones as, say, the morning after pill. I would definitely report it, because if it affects a significant number of women then it has implications for any use of the vaccine in pregnant women. Clinical trials are very rarely geared towards gathering data specific to women, so this is an opportunity to demonstrate how much safer it would be if they were.
