Menstrual changes after AZ vaccine?

NLM20 · 18/02/2021 19:56

Has anybody had any changes in period dates after their vaccine?
Mine came two weeks after the first!
Could be stress I suppose and was just wondering if anybody else had it? It’s not a listed side effect so I’m assuming it’s unrelated!

I have a coil and although my period was just finishing when I had my jab (8 days ago) I seem to have restarted along with ovulation pain today. I'm not normally still bleeding when I ovulate.

Roonerspismed · 24/03/2021 09:52

Please please report these symptoms as it’s so hard to gather data for women.

Mwnci123 · 25/03/2021 11:26

Roonerspismed have done yellow card this morning at your behest. You are right- important to understand female specific side effects.

Sjc21 · 30/03/2021 04:01

My period is now over a week late since having the vaccine and still not showed. They are now running research to find out reports of changes to menstrual cycle in vaccinated women and women that have had covid.

whatswithtodaytoday · 30/03/2021 04:52

Being ill always messes up my cycle - I'd always assumed my body thought it wasn't safe to have a baby so chucks everything out to start again. I've just had a nasty fluey cold and my period arrived a week early, a day after I started to get symptoms.

Definitely report it though, it's so interesting that others say the same.

mrsnw · 30/03/2021 08:39

I've completely missed mine this month. I'm due end of next week so will see if it shows up.

Throughabushbackwards · 30/03/2021 08:50

This is really interesting. I haven't been vaccinated yet but I've had messed up periods (every 2 weeks, then a normal one here and there, then a few 2 more week ones) since I was very ill with COVID a year ago. I've seen the GP for a full examination who said it's not likely to be peri as there are no other signs. I have never had an irregular period in my life until I had COVID so I'm convinced it's something to do with the massive immune and hormone response.

FlyingBurrito · 30/03/2021 08:56

Interestig that there have been a number of threads about this. Ime if it's being discussed on here it's quite likely to be a thing that needs looking into. I don't know who you'd report to but I wouldn't be at all surprised if this becomes a recognised side effect in time

In a few months when there's more data from younger women it will become clearer

TakeYourFinalPosition · 30/03/2021 09:00

I reported that my ovulation was delayed by 5 days after AZ. They investigated but said there’s no evidence of AZ causing any issues with fertility or menstruation and I should investigate other potential causes.

I’m 30, TTC and have tracked my cycle for over a year, it’s basically clockwork at this point, so I know it was AZ.

Ihopeyourcakeisshit · 30/03/2021 09:01

AZ last Wednesday, period arrived a week early the day after jab.

ConquestEmpireHungerPlague · 30/03/2021 10:59

This is so rubbish. Of course there's no evidence, because no one's gathering it!

Roonerspismed · 30/03/2021 11:22

This is what pisses me off. If the side effects are dismissed the data looks great! The safety data is only as good as its underlying quality

If women are undergoing IVF or TTC then they should be given the full picture

TakeYourFinalPosition · 30/03/2021 11:23

@ConquestEmpireHungerPlague @Roonerspismed I know, I properly raged over it. Especially as they requested a LOAD of information, to essentially then dismiss it all...

Arrrgghhh.

Boringlynormal · 30/03/2021 11:55

Do you think it’s linked to blood clotting? I know nothing about biology so could be talking garbage but if it’s true that it’s mostly pre menopausal women having the clotting side effect then surely there’s a link...?

knocke · 30/03/2021 22:18

.

perfectpanda · 30/03/2021 22:26

And another one. AZ Saturday and period here today 5 days early. I'm never early.

allmychristmasses · 30/03/2021 22:27

The r/covidvaccinated subreddit is literally rife with reports like these. Also reports of peri-menopausal having their first heavy period in months

Keepthechangeyafilthyanimal1 · 30/03/2021 22:33

This is interesting to read I’m in my 30s so haven’t had my jab yet but am possibly TTC in the next year and this is putting me off having the jab Confused

laurynlouu · 30/03/2021 22:57

had az last wednesday two days early and i’m normally very irregular

heythereiamback · 30/03/2021 23:02

Has any irregularity happened to you ladies only for one period? That is, the one straight after the vaccine? Has anybody had more than one cycles since? Just curious. I had the jab and then my period arrived 3-4 days early which is very unusual for me. I am not due the next one yet but just curious as to whether I should expect some strangeness again this cycle round. I will definitely yellow carding this.

Covid carries particular risks for pregnant women though. I would balance that against having to suspend ttc for one cycle. (Accepting that the whole point of this thread is that we don't know the extent of any impact on hormones and fertility, and also that I don't know your circs, of course.)
Smoodle · 31/03/2021 10:47

After reading this thread, I'm going to do a yellow card report too. Period arrived about 10 days early, a week after 1st AZ jab. Now on day 9 of very light bleeding. Really odd. I'm never early.

Heathermary1995 · 31/03/2021 10:49

I don't believe blood clotting is an issue relating to missed periods but given the hundreds of women Ive read on here missing periods with concerns over fertility I will not be taking the vaccine. I find it hard to believe all these cases of missed periods are coincidence and stress related

Roonerspismed · 31/03/2021 10:56

Someone on here said they yellow carded it but were told it wouldn’t be investigated as they couldn’t see a link why

This bothers me most. Surely the system is only as good as the data?
It is being looked into on Israel and seems common to all jabs including Pfizer

Witchesbelazy · 31/03/2021 11:05

My period isn’t here after having the vaccine it’s now very late I’m not pregnant and I’m quite worried about my fertility. No where near menopause age
