Has anyone in group 6 had any success using the NHS jab booking site?

I am group 6 and have been checking at least once a day. I feel the urge to check about once an hour now and I know it’s not healthy!

Has anyone in group 6 been able to use it yet? I think I want the answer to be ‘no’ because then I can hopefully get over my obsession and resign myself to waiting to be contacted by my GP.

"It would be really difficult for the national booking system to know who is group 6 and who isn't"

Those who receive carers allowance (around a million people) could be done through hubs because it is clear who they are and GPs don't need to get involved in that.

@Piggywaspushed

DH was told 'well you certainly aren't going to be this week'. So, that's him told!
On Tuesday I was told at my surgery it would be a few weeks yet due to their older demographic. I understood and just asked if I could be added to a 'happy to accept last minute' appointments as it would be nice to have it before I went back to school. One receptionist said they only had one if in group 5 but another one said 'oh I've got a short one here for group 6, ready to use when we can' so she added my name.

On Wednesday, yesterday, I got a phone call. Got told I'd been bumped up the list (they didn't say why hy and I didn't ask) and I'm booked in for next week.

Worth calling and asking if they have a last minute list perhaps.

Piggywaspushed · 18/02/2021 11:10

Trying to be patient and just stay at home.

Hmmm... not very easy f you are a teacher and Boris, love him, is about to have his 'big bang'...sigh.

TheGoodEnoughWife · 18/02/2021 11:38

Completely agree @Sockwomble that is a big chunk of group 6 that could ease the pressure on GPs.

I have submitted it as a question on the gov website but am sure they get many many questions a day!

And not just carers allowance. Many carers have a diagnosis code on their medical records, which was intended for use with the national booking system but they have not gone with that
TheGoodEnoughWife · 18/02/2021 12:01

@rightbacktothestart yes, this too.
Seems entirely possible to shift this database over to the national booking system. I don't know why they aren't.

Rollergirl11 · 18/02/2021 12:21

Yes I agree, surely once the records have been flagged in the system then it should be simple enough to push to the National booking system.

In an ideal world I would like mine before my teens go back to school in March but the reality is that I’ve survived this far and I’m just happy to be getting it any time soon. 😌

Bluebolt · 18/02/2021 12:29

I was informed by GP I am not registered as a carer. I asked why I had a carers medical, access to early/late appointments, home visits and telephone appointments and the flu jabs for the last ten years. I am down as a carer but not coded as a carer. If I had not emailed then I would be none the wiser and I had to wait for forms and now wait for the GP to code me, I get carers and he gets high rate care/mobility and he is a patient there. DS2 has been placed on a list that social services are aware that they have no suitable placement in county should we as a family no longer cope/become ill, he could be placed anywhere. For the first time I feel anxious. I am not expecting a invite anytime soon.

DarceyDashwood · 18/02/2021 12:40

It does feel like a bit more communication/information could be forthcoming/helpful about Group 6 and how it is all going to work! Does the fact that it is GP-led mean you have to have the jab at your GP’s for example, rather than one of the bigger hubs? If so, surely that means there might be empty capacity at the hubs as they are now doing the over 60s?

There seems to be a lot more uncertainty about how Group 6 is going/will work

Rockbird · 18/02/2021 12:47

I get that it's a massive group and they're trying to find their way through it, but the lack of information or communication regarding one's own medical circumstances is shocking.

Piggywaspushed · 18/02/2021 12:55

My GP doesn't do covid jabs at all so everyone ends up at the same hubs anyway!

GertrudePerkinsPaperyThing · 18/02/2021 12:58

I’m group 6 and my GP surgery have told me they are still on group 5 and also still doing CEV

Frazzled6 · 18/02/2021 13:01

I'm in the 'not knowing' situation too. I spoke to my GP practice about reregistering my Dd a few weeks ago (uni student but at home). I was told I was on their list and would be contacted shortly but I'm not sure what list (could be group 6, or my age group 7).

Im trying to work from home as much as possible but I am expected to complete visits where I can.. Keyworker but not covered within preferance groups. It would be nice to know what group, it would also be nice to know if there are spares available I would be contacted. I realise that they are doing an amazing job and I'm incredibly grateful that that we are a lucky nation to be doing so well with roll out.

GertrudePerkinsPaperyThing · 18/02/2021 13:06

I’ve put the nhs site on my favourites now though!

Abraxan · 18/02/2021 13:21

My surgery is sending me to a church hall in the next but if the city. Not far away but not a vaccine hub or medical centre. I was surprised, I'd not really realised the alternative locations they were using. I'm assuming I'll be having the Oxford vaccine there as it's not a medical centre.
MadisonAvenue · 18/02/2021 13:28

Abraxan In our area all different places are being used, a museum being one and even the Cathedral in the neighbouring city.
In our immediate area a group of GPs are using the restaurant in a local hotel as a vaccination centre and both Pfizer and AZ are being used there, it just depends on what has been delivered as to what you get when you go.

ItsA1WayStreet · 18/02/2021 13:32

I'm group 9 (I assume) and have had a text from my GP today with the booking site URL. Booked in for 8 days time.

Very confused as I am 53 with no underlying health issues

ClarasZoo · 18/02/2021 14:15

What area of the country is that?

rightbacktothestart · 18/02/2021 14:25

Who is responsible for all the different venues. I am a bit envious of all of you with so many different venues. There are 2 venues in my very large town and we are too far from a mass site if that 45-minute drive thing is still stopping people booking there.
So it's no surprise the town has not yet started on group 6.
Surely government should be looking out for anomalies like this and trying to rectify them.

Bluebolt · 18/02/2021 14:54

I am the same with venues, sandwiched between 2 cities with hubs, group 5 in the cities are using the hubs, whereas the group 5 here are using the GPs. In fairness to them why travel for 30 minutes when they can have it on their doorstep. The cities are miles ahead of us. They have not started group 6 here.

Bluebolt · 18/02/2021 14:55

Sorry last sentence should say we not they

QuestionableDanceMoves · 18/02/2021 15:30

I’m group 6 due to my bmi - I’m working on it- our local trust has said that you can book group 6 appointments online before you receive your letter. I can get an appointment tomorrow, my bmi is fairly apparent but will they ask for further proof? I haven’t received a letter or a text saying I can book an appointment

TheGoodEnoughWife · 18/02/2021 15:36

I didn't think group six was in any of the categories that meant you could book with the national hub online? Unless that has recently changed then lots from this thread will be off to book?
(Or have you booked through a link from your GP? If so then yes you will be fine for this)

QuestionableDanceMoves · 18/02/2021 15:39

My local trust announced it this morning that group 6 can now book online

MyBossIsATwat · 18/02/2021 15:41

@QuestionableDanceMoves

Do you mind saying what your local trust is please?
