Has anyone in group 6 had any success using the NHS jab booking site?

I am group 6 and have been checking at least once a day. I feel the urge to check about once an hour now and I know it’s not healthy!

Has anyone in group 6 been able to use it yet? I think I want the answer to be ‘no’ because then I can hopefully get over my obsession and resign myself to waiting to be contacted by my GP.

Mine is one of the ones that won't answer questions about the vaccines.

But our area has too few vaccination sites and is very far from a mass hub (although I would still travel there if given the option) so the area is lagging behind all other areas, even more pressure on GPs.

When so many on MN in Group 6 say they have been vaccinated, it feels as though not having been vaccinated makes me a minority, but the pp saying it is only day 3 make a good point...

MadisonAvenue · 17/02/2021 21:43

I tried booking on behalf of my son on Monday and it said he wasn’t eligible. On Tuesday he was called by the GP surgery and booked in for tomorrow.

Same postcode, same house, I had a text last week so they definitely have my contact details correctly. I can only assume they are doing the list by medical condition, but it rankles when DS didn’t expect one and now has one booked, whereas I know for certain I am G6 as history of TIAs!

CrackOpenTheGin

I agree, but the receptionist that I spoke to today tried to tell me they hadn’t even started sending texts, despite both my DC having received them! Unfortunately I am getting more information from FB posts by other surgeries than from ours.

I find it annoying that there is disconnect across the country. DH has a colleague around 50, he has admitted that he has no reason to have one early, who has been called.

Just phone up again and cause a fuss. Ask to speak to the practice manager

@CrackOpenTheGin patient access will show you which conditions are coded on your notes. From that you can look at the list of groups and see what you would fall into, it's not rocket science.

dontbefatist · 17/02/2021 21:47

@ExpulsoCorona

Everyone is entitled to access their own medical records without clogging up phone lines. You download the NHS app (check your practice's website to see which one and how). Then feel free to check that your notes have the correct conditions coded. If they don't, write an email to your practice to update the records.

www.nhs.uk/nhs-services/gps/online-health-and-prescription-services/

We use the same phone lines to book GP/Nurse appointments, do telephone consultations and book Covid vaccines. We don't suddenly have a load more staff for this.

I had no idea about an app to see my medical records. Thanks for the link. I will investigate that now.

I think Group 6 is a nightmare for GP practices, which is why the initial idea to identify carers through their code and divert off to the national booking system seemed better.

Well it is rocket science because there is debate about which conditions are included in group 6. Some people in here didn’t even know members of their family were in group 6!! And someone’s conditions could all be listed but somehow they could have been missed off Group 6.

If I’ve learnt anything in my 45 years it’s to never trust those self appointed gatekeepers of the nhs, the grumpy receptionists. Always double check yourself. And if they won’t help you then go through to the practice manager and keep going up until it’s resolved.

ExpulsoCorona · 17/02/2021 21:50

@dontbefatist The carers group is a total minefield. So so many people are calling up and declaring themselves to be carers in the past few days. A lot of them will be genuine but not everyone. We haven't got the resources to police this.

Boulshired · 17/02/2021 21:52

ExpulsoCorona
To do that I need the login from my surgery, which would still mean contacting them and are stating 14 day for all admin correspondence that is not urgent.

If you have one of the conditions listed and it's not on your patient record, feel free to email the practice so that they can rectify.

Sophiesdog2020 · 17/02/2021 21:53

patient access will show you which conditions are coded on your notes.

Not on my patient access, the conditions section is locked and states that your Practice hasn’t enabled this section. I know that TIA is high on my notes, it was the first thing a GP mentioned in a recent telephone consultation. So I assume that will automatically code me?

But as a pp said, if I don’t get called, I then have to chase up, which is not right.

RosesRoundtheDoor8 · 17/02/2021 21:53

Online booking is for CE V only I think.

ExpulsoCorona · 17/02/2021 21:54

@Boulshired with respect, it's not urgent. None of us dreamt we would be on to group 6 by mid February. By the time the 14 days have passed, you'd probably have your invitation by then.

Yeah my friend with sleep apnea and a BMI of nearly 50 had to chase it up and hound the GP. It wasn't fair. It isn't fair to anyone in group 6.

As I said, it’s all a shambles. Every system is different. Some have everything on, some don’t. Just phone up and keep escalating it until they confirm it for you.
ClarasZoo · 17/02/2021 21:55

Will the hubs progress to group 7,8 and 9 shortly then as there are not many in group 5... and group 6 are being done by GPs?

ExpulsoCorona · 17/02/2021 21:56

@Sophiesdog2020, yes if they mentioned it then you've been coded properly. The aim is to do group 6 mid Feb - April I believe so yes, if you haven't heard by the end of March then it's reasonable to chase.

No thanks. I phoned them and would have kept phoning them until they confirmed my group. Biscuit

ExpulsoCorona · 17/02/2021 21:58

@CrackOpenTheGin it really isn't a shambles. The vaccine delivery in the UK has been an amazing feat. After really rocky management of this pandemic, this is one thing we can be so proud of.

ExpulsoCorona · 17/02/2021 21:59

@CrackOpenTheGin sure, keep clogging up the phone lines so that they can book the vaccines even slower Biscuit

Patient Access will only show you your medical notes if your GP practice have enabled that section for you. All I am able to do is make appointments and request repeat prescriptions. Nothing else is available to me. So not quite rocket science actually.

TheGoodEnoughWife · 17/02/2021 23:02

I get that group six is complicated but I would have thought many carers are getting carers allowance? I don't know a figure as to how many but am sure a significant number do. These people would be easy to 'verify' surely? And as such the hubs should be opened up to them?
Getting the hubs used and reducing pressure on GPs.

ExpulsoCorona · 17/02/2021 23:03

@Rollergirl11 fair enough, my practice has enabled it I was assuming everywhere had. I still think people are being very impatient though. Again I reiterate, we are on day 3 of group 6 with 7 million people. It is unrealistic for 7 million people to have been contacted in 3 days.

purplebatbear · 17/02/2021 23:04

I'm SO frustrated. The effing NHS booking thing says you can book if you have previously received. Shielding letter.

I have.
I was shielding most of last year.

It won't let me book...
