Hi,

I have a leaky heart valve and recess free flu jab each year. Pretty sure I’m in JCVI group 6 and so wondering if others in this group have been called up yet?

GP surgeries are supposed to be inviting us starting Monday I think? We're being done through the GP system, not the national booking system.

Akire · 14/02/2021 11:38

Some have started but very much post code lottery at the moment

whatsthatnow74 · 14/02/2021 11:39

@CrayonInThreeBits thanks, I read that somewhere too I think. Can’t wait to get the call/text!!

TryingNotToPanicOverCovid · 14/02/2021 11:40

Ooh monday!?

I can't wait.

RandomMess · 14/02/2021 11:42

My area has started know several people that have had invites including DH but I haven't got mine yet 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭

I am definitely in group 6 am not younger or older or even a different surname to DH so no idea 🤷🏽‍♀️

CrayonInThreeBits · 14/02/2021 11:42

I'm excited — and my group 5 parents have just booked jabs tomorrow 👍🏻

whatsthatnow74 · 14/02/2021 11:42

@RandomMess how frustrating!

Directionerforever · 14/02/2021 11:43

Have you tried to book online?

www.nhs.uk/conditions/coronavirus-covid-19/coronavirus-vaccination/book-coronavirus-vaccination/

Give it a go, if you’re eligible it should let you do it. Good luck!

CrayonInThreeBits · 14/02/2021 11:45

Doesn't work for group 6, I think because we're not being done through the national booking system but via GP surgeries.

whatsthatnow74 · 14/02/2021 11:46

@Directionerforever yes, I’ve tried that link but doesn’t work!

OP posts:
RandomMess · 14/02/2021 11:48

Nope doesn't work Sad

I may keep having mini sulks 😂

TryingNotToPanicOverCovid · 14/02/2021 11:48

Didnt work for me group6. I wonder if they'll officially move onto 5 and 6 after the 14th. Or 5 then 6...

RandomMess · 14/02/2021 11:48

Wonder if it will work from Monday?

Kitkat151 · 14/02/2021 11:53

Finishing off group 5 here....so group 6 to start next week....hope you don’t have to wait much longer

Scarby9 · 14/02/2021 11:57

My DB and DSIL, both CV so priority 6, are booked in for Tuesday in Berkshire, as is my 69 yearold friend up north - priority 5. Some places are slightly ahead of others.

unmarkedbythat · 14/02/2021 12:00

DH has just had his invitation. I'm unsure as to his group. He has thyroid disease and had an op on his heart in the autumn (not open heart surgery, the kind where you go in via the groin). He got a booking link from the gp.

whatsthatnow74 · 14/02/2021 12:17

Sounds like it should be soon then 🤞🏻 Hoping I’m in group 6, though hard to know for sure!

Iremembertheelderlykoreanlady · 14/02/2021 12:19

Me and OH are group 6. Got our invite on Friday. Vaccines booked for Wednesday next week.

Such a rush of relief when I got the text. I hope your wait isn't long.

Iremembertheelderlykoreanlady · 14/02/2021 12:20

Have you had a look at the green book to see if you are group 6? It's not as straightforward as receiving the flu jab (take a look at the asthma thread)

whatsthatnow74 · 14/02/2021 12:25

@Iremembertheelderlykoreanlady I’ve been searching online but not found a conclusive response. I have a leaky mitral valve which is classified as moderate in its severity. I’m pretty sure this comes under heart disease.

FlowersBlossom · 14/02/2021 12:41

I feel impatient too OP. I keep hearing of carers and group 7 being vaccinated as well as others like childminders stretching the definition of being social care workers whilst not really hearing much about when the clinically vulnerable group 6 are being vaccinated. Sorry that sounds bitter, I'm just anxious. I know every vaccine given is a good thing.

I also have a heart valve condition. The definition is simply a heart problem so I think it will cover everyone with a heart defect, their ambiguity makes me think that I don't think they will be picky over who qualifies when it comes to heart conditions, unlike asthma. British Heart Foundation have also not really posted anything about specificities regarding who qualifies for the vaccine. My condition does not impair me at all and does not give me any symptoms (thankfully) but I have seen on my medical records I'm in the CV/moderate risk group.

FlowersBlossom · 14/02/2021 12:44

The Green Book Chapter 14a says:

"Congenital heart disease, hypertension with cardiac complications, chronic heart failure, individuals requiring regular medication and/or follow-up for ischaemic heart disease. This includes individuals with atrial fibrillation, peripheral vascular disease or a history of venous thromboembolism."

Mine comes under congenital heart disease.

LemonTT · 14/02/2021 12:45

Vaccination centres, who use the national booking system, are doing most of cohort 5 and carers.

GP hubs who use a call system are doing at risk, clinically vulnerable. Gp hubs have more capacity to do this very very big group.

Not everyone can be called at once and not everyone can book at once. The plan covers 4 weeks till mid March.

HunterHearstHelmsley · 14/02/2021 12:48

@CrayonInThreeBits

It did work for my Dad. He had his booked through the GP day after I'd checked, but if they hadn't contacted I was going to book the following day. He 100% had that option. I tested with my details, I'm not in the priority list, and it didn't allow me.
CatkinToadflax · 14/02/2021 12:48

My mum and both PIL are in group 4 and all got their jabs yesterday. They are in the Home Counties area so maybe that area is a bit behind other regions.
