I know no one has a crystal ball but what order do you think boris will open up and in what order when he sets out his roadmap?
I was thinking obviously schools first which I'm hoping in March followed in April by non essential shops then possibly hairdressers/ beauty salons in may along with pubs/ restaurants and possibly other entertainment venues june/July as long as the vaccine program keeps on track.

OP posts:

On holidays they better not let the vaccinated swan off without quarantine while so many of us working and homeschooling won’t get chance to be vaccinated twice any time soon - it wouldn’t surprise me if they did kick us in the teeth though!

AfternoonToffee · 12/02/2021 17:53

Nods sagely at squishy whilst tapping nose and agreeing that the plan starts on February 31st.

I don't think they'll do that. It's too complicated surely for a start?

Coasterfan · 12/02/2021 18:10

I think similar to what the OP said, schools first as a priority but I m hoping things like theme parks, zoos and farms will open up early on in the roadmap as we have been home since xmas and it’s so bloody boring. These are our favourite things to do and they are outside so scarily safe with limited numbers.

DuchessofHastings1 · 12/02/2021 18:38

I dont care about his road map on the 22nd.

They won't stick to it.

Another zombie mutant deadly variant will emerge and we all have to exist, I mean live, like this god knows how long.

Beaniecats · 12/02/2021 18:39

Easy
New variants
No relaxation
Doom and gloom generally

Iheartbaby · 12/02/2021 18:44

Does anyone think year 6 will be the first ones back, after all it is an exam year with the SATS although I know they have been cancelled. Year 6 is important as it’s the last year before they move onto secondary.

NorbertMeubles · 12/02/2021 18:48

@Ilovegreentomatoes

Well hopefully boris will give us some clarity with his announcement even if it has to change due to any unforeseen circumstances.
Boris and clarity. That would be a first.

I think they know this will lead to riots tbh. Maybe come 2022 when everyone has had the opportunity to have it but not this year. At the moment there’s good will re waiting for a vaccine if you’re not vulnerable, but that could easily go to shit like the initial goodwill did over Barney Castle.

Tigger001 · 12/02/2021 18:56

I agree with others, schools will be the priority but only selected years and the rest will be after Easter. I can't see anything else changing, it will just be the schools.

Then they will look at opening schools up to all after Easter, I think the non essential shops will (well any that haven't been open throughout anyway) will open back up in May. Still social distancing and mask obviously

It would be nice if they could open up outdoor places in May, but last time social distancing remained an issue as people were ignoring it, so venues struggled, but hopefully they could do so.

The pubs will not reopen until May/ June and that will be back to outdoors only.

I don't think any indoor activities will reopen until the back end of Autumn, and the same with gathering in houses, not until late Autumn (if then)

Don't worry, its inconceivable that a uk scheme will be up and running & recognised by other countries in the next 6 to 8 months.

Politically, imagine saying to under 30s you can't go abroad but your parents can?

MummaPI · 12/02/2021 19:05

March 8th, some years back possibly like June last year, years rec, 1 and 6 plus year 10 and 11. After Easter all back in, 3 to 4 weeks later cases rises again because school staff won't be vaccinated in time but its alright because we can open the windows! 🙄
My husband is hoping barbers are first on the list! 😂

DonnaDonna01 · 12/02/2021 19:10

It’s all about Yr11 and Yr13 but what about Yr10 and Yr12, their still in their GCSE and A Level years. Yr11 and Yr13 aren’t sitting exams this year that’s been confirmed. I think Yr10 and Yr12 have the short end of the stick if they don’t go back in with the first group.

RedGoldAndGreene · 12/02/2021 19:10

Some schools years back 8 March (Reception, y1,y2, y11,13) with everyone else after Easter.

Retail 1 April, pubs and restaurants 1 May.

Y11/13 need to go back so there teachers can test them. Teachers need data on these kids to back up any CAG. Y10/12 doing practical subjects should be invited back from those lessons but that would be thinking about this problem educationally which isn't a forte for this governmentX
PumpkinPie2016 · 12/02/2021 19:17

I reckon it will be some school years back 8th March but not all. Possibly infants like Scotland and Wales. Then maybe 11/13 either 8th March or after Easter. Others back after Easter.

Shops/hairdressers from April. Maybe rule of 6 outside again.

Pubs/restaurants May depending on how things go.

All random speculation obviously!

Frazzled2207 · 12/02/2021 19:20
@ifonly4 they have already stated that hairdressers and beauty will not be last this time due to low transmission rates and all the PPE/ booking slots. Same with gyms and swimming.
I agree with this idea but has this actually been said? By whom?

InFiveMins · 12/02/2021 19:21

I really think the roadmap will be a load of crap and we'll be given some of our freedoms back and then whipped back again a month or two later because of 'rising cases' and 'new strains'.

DonnaDonna01 · 12/02/2021 19:22

@RedGoldAndGreene

I appreciate why Yr11 and Yr13 need to go back but Yr10 and Yr12 will be sitting exams next year and need to get back to class, online learning is not a replacement for in class teaching especially when you need this to pass the exams.

GertrudePerkinsPaperyThing · 12/02/2021 19:26

Surely got to be yr 7 after the exam years? Those poor kids missed the end of junior school, with every right of passage gone, and then taken away from their new friends after just knowing them one term, and should be cementing those relationships.

GertrudePerkinsPaperyThing · 12/02/2021 19:27

Primary school from youngest to oldest.

Why does anyone think next year will be better the vaccines are not getting us out ... Charles Walker made a lot of sense the other day .... if theatres etc have SD all year there will be nothing left !!! Vaccines stop you being ill I think things will go back to normal sooner than we think

10 million ppl suffering severe mental health , 1.5 mill under 18 you cannot keep ppl away for nearly 2 years !
