NB Please don’t take this too seriously- it depends what vaccine delivery speed and uptake you estimate so it’s not written in stone.

A 99 would be great with your vaccine. I believe some places are giving out stickers. I’ll take either if offered... but I’ll settle for the jab itself.

Wherediditgo · 13/02/2021 21:32

In not so good news, I tried to give my 3yo a hair cut today. He now looks like an ex-con. I’m expecting a visit from social services Grin

I trimmed the front of my 1 year olds DS’s hair and he looks like a member of the Monkees

@carlywurly

Fab thread, just what I need with a dp overseas I haven't seen for ages and really want to go visit Sad

2 colleagues vaccinated yesterday. 65 year old called yesterday morning to see if he could book a jab and was done by lunchtime. 35 year old asthmatic also done - she wasn't shielding, just got the text.

I feel quite emotional knowing they're all getting protected.

I know how you feel. My parents live on an Island that is currently banned in the UK. And for me to go there I'd have to be clear of 14 days of being in the UK then another 14 days in hotel quarantine on the island. Absolute shite but right now I'm concentrating on all the good stuff happening around me in the UK. Some things are just out of our control and it's heartbreaking for those of us with loved ones outside the country but I'm positive that the quicker things get back to normal within the country, some time this year international travel will be given the green light 🤞🏼
tobee · 13/02/2021 21:54

That reminds me I've got to give Dh another haircut. 😬

2020CanDoOne · 13/02/2021 22:28

DD’s haircut is pending. She has ASD and hates her hair cutting at the next of times, so I’m lining up the best that Disney+ can offer before i open up my salon.

PuzzledObserver · 13/02/2021 22:36

I need a haircut soon. I bought proper hairdressing scissors in first lockdown. I mainly use the thinning scissors to lose the weight, trim around ears and get DH to do the back.

DH bought some clippers and did back and sides himself, allowed me to do the top with scissors.

I don’t think either of us will win any prizes, but we won’t get arrested either.

alreadytaken · 13/02/2021 23:42

article in the Times says an ONS survey shows only 1% turning down a vaccine when offered. It does vary slightly with age but I cant read the whole article so I dont know if they allowed for people ttc or advised not to take it.

So for anyone who cant have the jab good prospect of herd immunity being reached.

tobee · 14/02/2021 03:38

That's great to have good uptake!

Desperate to get my hair cut; it's so long, thin and straggly, and it makes me hot!

tobee · 14/02/2021 05:16

Meant to post this yesterday:-

TheChineseChicken · 14/02/2021 07:47

Excellent news. I think it needs to be done.

Although something in that article caught my attention - you’re currently only allowed to meet someone outdoors while standing up?! I hadn’t heard that Grin I suppose it makes sense but just sounds funny

TheChineseChicken · 14/02/2021 07:51

Ugh, the rest of the plan sounds so painfully slow. Golf or tennis with one other person by end of March? Who gives a crap. And hospitality probably not until end of May? Sad

An antiviral coating for masks that will kill viral particles in an hour at most. Wonder if you can spray on anti-vaxers Grin

FourTeaFallOut · 14/02/2021 08:04

Sorry, I only read the first few paragraphs and went off in to a giddy tailspin complete with emergency longer school trouser spree before the rush. The rest does look very slow but the do say the will review fortnightly. Maybe the vaccines will provide good leverage for early reopenings?

FuzzyPuffling · 14/02/2021 08:06

The news this morning says that CV group can book their vaccine from tomorrow. I'm all excited. ( But with reservations...we shall see if it actually means it!) 😉

All the technology in the world and now we have good old salt chipping in to the effort? Brilliant.

Zogstart · 14/02/2021 08:16

Ooo does that mean CV can book online? Do you have a link pretty please?

Level75 · 14/02/2021 08:26

Does anyone have the brainspace to work out what deaths, cases and admissions are likely to be in 8 March if we continue with the same decline as recently?

Level75 · 14/02/2021 08:38

OK I've just done some really crude calculations.
I've taken 25% off the figures for 3 weeks. Current rate of decrease is about 27-27%. That give the following on 8 March:
5, 475 average cases per day
261 deaths
717 hospitalisations.

Hopefully it'll actually be lower than that as vaccinations kick in.

Inastatus · 14/02/2021 09:27

@FourTeaFallOut - fantastic schools news 😀😀😀 🤞🏻

Blessex · 14/02/2021 09:30

Wowowow for schools!!! Can’t wait!!!! Off to the garden centre today to spruce up the garden for spring. There is light at the end of this horrible tunnel!!! Daffodil

Wonderful if the kids all can go back in 3 weeks.... but contemplating august for hospitality? Leave it that long it'll never reopen...

I can’t see how it would be - it opened earlier last year and we locked down later and didn’t have a vaccine
