@feelingverylazytoday - wow, amazing news!

HopelesslyOptimistic · 13/02/2021 18:54

Virgin to this threat, intrigued & my glass is usually half full. Cheers

Shehz21 · 13/02/2021 19:01

My MIL mid 60s who had the vaccine yesterday (Astra/Zeneca)didn't have a single side effect! Not even a sore arm.

TJ17 · 13/02/2021 19:17

I see our security measures are just as effective guys 😂

I didn't get involved this time as I already have a caution from last time 😅
I read it and thought oh bore off and then came back later and we'd full blown let the dogs out 😂😂

Amazing news about possible new 1 size fits all vaccine!

TJ17 · 13/02/2021 19:18

Welcome @HopelesslyOptimistic you sound like our kinda person SmileWine

HopelesslyOptimistic · 13/02/2021 19:20

Clearly this thread is not a threat, message to self, check before sending. I really must learn, because I've got myself into many pickles sending messages to SIL when intended for my lover. 😉

TheChineseChicken · 13/02/2021 19:22

Welcome @HopelesslyOptimistic to the best thread on mumsnet

HopelesslyOptimistic · 13/02/2021 19:23

Thanks TheChineseChicken - I spend far too much time chuckling at tag names.

FuzzyPuffling · 13/02/2021 19:24

Several over 65s in our village got vaccinated today. (They did have to schlep to the nearest hub 45 miles away, but worth it.)

HopelesslyOptimistic · 13/02/2021 19:30

My mother who is 73 had a pretty sore arm for 48 hours, however, my MIL with Parkinson's, had a pretty scary reaction. She is now refusing to have the second dose. As a family, we are hopeful, just like child birth, she forgets about the side effects. This vaccination roll out is bringing me joy.

Namechangeforthewin · 13/02/2021 19:32

That's my cev brother vaccinated today and my mum who's 65 in Scotland. Dad got done last week. Only me left to do. No side effects so far.

Yiayoula · 13/02/2021 19:32

My GP’s surgery has buddied up with three nearby practices, and this afternoon posted a photo of the 10,000th person receiving their vaccination.
Big thank you from me, had my jab on Friday ( over 65’s cohort ). 💐

Truelymadlydeeplysomeonesmum · 13/02/2021 19:43

We have a message sent out from local GP hub saying government has told them to move to cohort 6 now. As well as finishing off previous groups.

I know other areas are still doing earlier groups but think it is just a younger population here and bad take up amongst the London black, Asian and a lot of European people.

At a guess the general strategy for London now is get as many people jabbed as possible from priority list. Whilst working on the groups that don't want it. To change their minds. Only way forwards to keep everyone safe really.

DobbyTheHouseElk · 13/02/2021 19:46

Fuzzy it can’t be much longer for you. I’m sending you positive thoughts. Is George ok?

Have been dipping in and out recently. Need a good news boost. I’m group 10 so wondering if ever I’ll feel safe to go to a shop again.

carlywurly · 13/02/2021 20:04

Fab thread, just what I need with a dp overseas I haven't seen for ages and really want to go visit Sad

2 colleagues vaccinated yesterday. 65 year old called yesterday morning to see if he could book a jab and was done by lunchtime. 35 year old asthmatic also done - she wasn't shielding, just got the text.

I feel quite emotional knowing they're all getting protected.

FuzzyPuffling · 13/02/2021 20:18

Thanks Dobby. My guess is at least another two weeks for me...depends how they organise the group 6ers. (PCN unable to tell me when I asked!)

George is not too bad - he has a large lump on his back but it's not bothering him. He's got another couple of days of antibiotics to take. He's eating well and going out, but it still very nervous and likes to hide under the table. Poor traumatised boy. We make him sit with us in the evenings!

Welcome to you! You won’t regret it - once you join this pack, you’ll never go back Wink

Oh look, a vaccine bus:

"New vaccine uptake plan published - GOV.UK" www.gov.uk/government/news/new-vaccine-uptake-plan-published

Do you think it's too late to submit my ice-cream van idea, complete with garish music so people can get to the doorstep when they hear the van coming?

Level75 · 13/02/2021 20:39

Love that Times article @tobee

FuzzyPuffling · 13/02/2021 20:52

A vaccine bus? WOW...we don't even have ordinary buses round here! Bring it on.

(Although I like the idea of getting a 99 with my vaccine)

amicissimma · 13/02/2021 20:54

@TheCountessofFitzdotterel

Another set of excellent figures today.

Cases 13308 from 18262 last week

Deaths 621 from 828 last week

1741 hospitalisations, don’t know where to find last week but at least it’s now comfortably below 2000

Vaccinations over 500k for the first time on a Saturday.

2460 hospitalisations on 6th Feb.

That’s one potential advantage of the 12 week gap I suppose...

45 miles ShockShockShock
FuzzyPuffling · 13/02/2021 21:25

countess, all healthcare is that far away...that's the distance to our nearest hospital too.

We once got asked why we didn't use public transport to get to DH's hospital appointment on a Monday...the answer is, we would have had to start off the previous Wednesday!
