What do people think chances are of a uk caravan holiday in the Easter holidays?

I think if you are the kind of cat to brave the roulette of British weather at Easter then your risk taking behaviour is definitely in line with chancing the easing of restrictions.

Shehz21 · 13/02/2021 09:03

If that article is anything to go by, Easter holidays within the UK will surely be going ahead 🥳

TeaInTheGarden · 13/02/2021 09:16

@FourTeaFallOut the risk of the weather has not even crossed my mind!! 😂😂
I think I’d just be so happy to be away, and at least if we are stuck in a caravan watching the rain it will be something different to moan about 😆

Good to hear, thanks for posting!

PuzzledObserver · 13/02/2021 09:23

@Mynxie that’s good news. Still not open to group 6, but it surely can’t be long. There are fewer than 3 million in group 5.

Motorina · 13/02/2021 09:28

@Mynxie

The NHS vaccine booking site is now booking appointments for 65+ My husband booked an appointment on it last night and is on his way to the centre now!
Thank you! I shared this with my book club and now 3 people are booked in :)
RaggieDolls · 13/02/2021 09:39

@OrangeBananaFish

Thanks for the link *@Shehz21*

I think there will be lots of leaks over the next week of plans. It's the rule of 6 outdoors that I'm personally waiting for. Surely that cant be too far away. That means I can run in a small group and I can arrange to meet DD2s best friend and mum for a walk.

Really hoping parkrun can resume sometime this year too.

😱 you've just brought the full horror of my boot camp starting again with the rule of six to my attention. We last met on December and I've done nothing but walking since. Can you be vaccinated against chronic lack of fitness I wonder? It's going to be brutal.
Frazzled2207 · 13/02/2021 09:42

I’ve not been optimistic enough to believe that uk holidays will be in By Easter but am sufficiently confident in may bank holiday to have booked. I think Easter could be doable but restaurants is the main not-sure. My friend with a holiday caravan in Wales is convinced she’ll be allowed to go.

PuzzledObserver · 13/02/2021 09:47

DH and I were discussing getting away yesterday - he’s got two weeks booked off end of Feb into March because he has to use his holiday up and we did bugger all last year. He had wondered about me booking one week off as well and us getting away, but it doesn’t look like it will be happening.

However, I pointed out that he is retiring at Easter anyway, so I can take a week off whenever things open up cos he can go any time. Plus, the weather might be a bit better!

Welikebeingcosy · 13/02/2021 10:00

I swear every morning I wake up in such a funk and this is the only place brightening me up right now. Thanks everyone for keeping it real.

OrangeBananaFish · 13/02/2021 10:19

@RaggieDolls I do outdoor bootcamp too. Looking forward to it starting again properly. They've been online, but I haven't joined in. I fully expect to have difficulty in walking once I finally do get back to them Grin

OrangeBananaFish · 13/02/2021 10:22

Now I have the Raggy Dolls theme tune in my head.

tootyfruitypickle · 13/02/2021 10:36

Allowing kids outdoor sport would be a real positive , I wonder if they can bring that in on 22nd?

tootyfruitypickle · 13/02/2021 10:40

Not convinced inews would be where the govt would leak plans to, but I'm cheered by the assumption in that piece that schools will fully reopen on March 8.

Welikebeingcosy · 13/02/2021 10:48

Needing motivation to get the washing up done the house tidy and the laundry on as quickly as possible before my 20 month old needs me because I want to get out in today's rare sunshine and make the most of it. Not used to doing much these days so it is hard for my body ha

TheCountessofFitzdotterel · 13/02/2021 10:48

I am really really hoping they will allow garden socializing again so I can get out the lovely awning I made last autumn. I am fully confident the weather will be nice in a month #blindoptimismthread.

Fourtea, never mind caravanning, I was camping the Easter before last, in Yorkshire no less, and it was LOVELY.

Mablefly · 13/02/2021 10:49

Thank you for sharing the vaccine link update. I shared it with my mum (66) and she has also just had her letter today!!! I am so excited, she lives alone and is in our bubble but we've been keeping our distance due to my husband's job. This will make such a massive difference to our family.

starfish88 · 13/02/2021 10:59

Thanks for that, I got my dad to book himself in for tomorrow. I have been quite worried about him because he is overweight although in the last year he has got his BMI from over 40 to just overweight. Still its good to know he will be vaccinated soon.
FourTeaFallOut · 13/02/2021 11:08

We went caravanning at Easter one year and we woke up to snow. It's not that it can't be nice, you just wouldn't want to bet your house or a tenner on it.

FourTeaFallOut · 13/02/2021 11:09

That was in Yorkshire too.

My DM, 67, has got access to a jab now!

RaggieDolls · 13/02/2021 11:33

@OrangeBananaFish

Now I have the Raggy Dolls theme tune in my head.
'Be like the right dolls and say I just don't care' 🎶🎶🎶

(Which is exactly what I will have to do with all the thinner, fitter people at my classes)

RaggieDolls · 13/02/2021 11:34

Right dolls? Raggy dolls! First someone steals the correct spelling as a mumsnet account and now I can't type it correctly.

DareIask · 13/02/2021 11:48

FebFrosting · 13/02/2021 12:01

Encouraging over 65’s can now book themselves. My elderly relatives now all had their first dose.

Really hope when Group 6 get invited to vaccines that improves hospital figures and lowers death rate and hospital figures.
