@Level75 well you beat me on the obsessive checking. 😆
I will be doing this from now until group 7 become eligible!
(I’ve also told my dad that when his wife does eventually get offered hers, that he must go with her and loiter round the car park, just in case!)

tobee · 12/02/2021 17:03

Just wanted to mention Dairy Drop for milk etc deliveries. I've not used them but my friend highly recommends them.

How Hancock doesn't stand on the podium holding up this October article in the one hand

And flicking the bird with the other - is completely beyond me.

This is gold Grin

@Brunt0n

Does anyone know if there’s an online booking link for Scotland? My mum is 63 but works with young children so I’d like to see if she’s able to book..
Haven’t seen a similar link for Scotland or Wales...
tootyfruitypickle · 12/02/2021 19:08

France is saying if you had covid before you only need one dose

That’s funny, considering they were so scathing of our 12-week gap regimen Hmm

Truelymadlydeeplysomeonesmum · 12/02/2021 21:20

😂 That was my first thought too

It would get them around not having enough vaccine and refusing their over 65s AZ too

We will have to see what Whitty and co say.

Worried1305 · 12/02/2021 21:45

An organisation I am part of are ploughing ahead with plans for a 50+ person conference in late August... any thoughts on whether it might go ahead? I am keeping my fingers firmly crossed!

Brilliantly positive article here in the New Statesman: www.newstatesman.com/science-tech/coronavirus/2021/02/how-uk-could-vaccinate-every-adult-mid-may-and-end-lockdown

Truelymadlydeeplysomeonesmum · 12/02/2021 22:26

Cracking article but now I want us to be doing 5 million a week

50 and under conference I would have no doubt would go ahead. 50+ not so sure if I am honest. Not until those Autumn booster jabs. I am no expert though.

tobee · 12/02/2021 22:29

Thanks for that New Statesman link Worried

TeaInTheGarden · 12/02/2021 23:03

Thank you so much for that @Worried1305.
How lovey to see common sense in black and white!! Based on where we are now, and what we know, that’s totally right. Why on earth would we stay locked down if people are not being hospitalised or dying?!

Why on earth so many people/the media (doom mongers!!) seem hell bent on assuming the absolute worst about variants is beyond me. Has this situation not been bad enough already?? If it ended this spring/summer I don’t think we will have got off lightly. There has been more than enough doom to go around already- surely we can just hope for the best now..?! Why would it be unrealistic to hope for an end to this nightmare..?! It’s like people have got so used to it, it’s become normal, and to think of our old lives is ridiculous and reckless.

Argh sorry, reading a sensible article made me realise how ridiculous most reporting is!! Rant over!!

tobee · 12/02/2021 23:04

A good positive piece from the Los Angeles Times reiterating stuff we've already covered about vaccines and variants:-

More good news from Israel.

www.timesofisrael.com/hmo-sees-only-544-covid-infections-among-523000-fully-vaccinated-israelis/

Furries · 13/02/2021 01:22

Good news for my area - have gone from being in the top 10 not that long ago for case numbers, to now being in triple digits!

Brunt0n · 13/02/2021 07:18

My doctors surgery has posted an update on Facebook to say that they will be contacted people in group 6 with appts for 16th and 20th of Feb. Such a relief to see them working through the local population like that (even though i’m down in group 10!)

RaggieDolls · 13/02/2021 07:30

I'm hopeful that by the time they reach under 50's we will have an approval and stock of the Janssen vaccine which is single dose. They could then whizz through the remaining age groups with no need for second appointments meaning they can get back to over 80's if autumn boosters are needed.

TeaInTheGarden · 13/02/2021 08:44

Also really hopeful for the J&J coming out in time to jab the masses in phase 2. Would really really speed things up!

TeaInTheGarden · 13/02/2021 08:49

What do people think chances are of a uk caravan holiday in the Easter holidays? Just about family bubble of course.... has anyone else got one booked?
When we booked it it seemed like it would be fine, so far away. Now I’m nervous. Well not nervous, but trying to be realistic. Not told the kids though so no huge drama if it gets cancelled/postponed....

TeaInTheGarden · 13/02/2021 08:51

The inews article seems to be the total opposite of the doom we hear from most places! Not sure if it’s based on anything or just guesswork though.

OrangeBananaFish · 13/02/2021 08:54

Thanks for the link @Shehz21

I think there will be lots of leaks over the next week of plans. It's the rule of 6 outdoors that I'm personally waiting for. Surely that cant be too far away. That means I can run in a small group and I can arrange to meet DD2s best friend and mum for a walk.

Really hoping parkrun can resume sometime this year too.

Weve got the first week of the Easter Holidays booked. Same as you, we've not told our son yet in case it gets cancelled.

We waver between it being cancelled and it being allowed to give the travel industry a boost at one of their peak times.

The NHS vaccine booking site is now booking appointments for 65+
My husband booked an appointment on it last night and is on his way to the centre now!
