NB Please don’t take this too seriously- it depends what vaccine delivery speed and uptake you estimate so it’s not written in stone.

My parents have had their jab today, both 66. We're in Nottinghamshire. Both had the Pfizer jab and had to wait 15 minutes before leaving.
I was surprised that they recieved a text as I'd heard Nottinghamshire was behind compared to a lot of other areas.

Just strayed onto the most recent schools thread. Why oh why did I bother?

louisejxxx · 11/02/2021 17:43

Today’s figures, which apparently are delayed until atleast 6pm due to technical issues.

extra 500,000 or so vaccines today - warning via Scotland of supply difficulties for Pfizer next week so may be some slowdown then.

I know. It attracts the worst of the worst doomers.

I should heed your advice.

Littlebelina · 11/02/2021 17:58

@starfish88

Suddenly wondered if that was outing! That I know some people in Wandsworth. Just as well I didn't tell you all about my DHs outing hobby!
It's cycling isn't it Grin
ACovidofWitches · 11/02/2021 18:06

Gosh the drop in cases/deaths today?! When I think back to late December and the fear being stoked around the new variant and the idea of hospitals being totally overwhelmed..... I know it's been very very tough for people working in hospitals but still it felt impossible to hope that things would start dropping this quickly. It's amazing watching it. I really hope those on the front line of the NHS feel better for seeing the numbers drop so fast.

tootyfruitypickle · 11/02/2021 18:45

Good to see the drop in deaths at last.

Gosh I've had a bad day today. I think a lot of us are hitting a wall this week aren't we .

Hoping spring comes early this year ! How much we could do with a March heatwave!

The temperature should be up about 10 degrees from Monday so that will feel a lot more pleasant
louisejxxx · 11/02/2021 19:01

Yes I’ve hit a wall today too (it’s always a Thursday) - I think today it’s dawned on me that I’ve spent weeks looking forward to half term because of not having to do any home schooling and the reality is this will actually just mean we’ve got anything to do and will probably spend all week snapping at each other.

TheCountessofFitzdotterel · 11/02/2021 19:02

If my sums are correct the case numbers are 65% of what they were a week ago so a fall of slightly more than a third.
We also only need one more day like this for the weekly rolling average to be below what it was in October, before the November lockdown.

Truelymadlydeeplysomeonesmum · 11/02/2021 19:04

Good the lower the rolling average is before 22nd the better. Might make Boris and co a bit more optimistic about their opening up plans

FourTeaFallOut · 11/02/2021 19:15

I might have to start my own school closure meltdown thread and return my optimism badge with the acting op if that doesn't happen @Truelymadlydeeplysomeonesmum

Me too

Though don't even think about putting the words School, Teachers, Education or Children in the title of the thread. Else you will be traumatised for life

MarshaBradyo · 11/02/2021 19:20

Lol Truely we’ve all been there. The brunt of it.

FourTeaFallOut · 11/02/2021 19:25

Sod it, I'll take it on the chin. It won't be my first mn burn.

MarshaBradyo · 11/02/2021 19:26

Four I’m sure I’ll contribute even with the inevitable pile on.

This is exactly how I feel! It’s bad enough filling the days with schoolwork
tootyfruitypickle · 11/02/2021 19:33

We just need to get to a week on Monday and then hopefully we can see the light at the end of the tunnel with the roadmap.

Pomegranatespompom · 11/02/2021 19:36

@FourTeaFallOut
If you mention ‘closed’ it will really kick off.

Work shy appears to be a trigger even if it hasn’t been said.

FourTeaFallOut · 11/02/2021 19:36

We'll go out like Susan Sarandon and Geena Davis MarshaBradyo.

MarshaBradyo · 11/02/2021 19:39

Four Grin that made me laugh you’re on

FourTeaFallOut · 11/02/2021 19:40

Oh man, I'm not dropping the workshy bomb, my kid's teachers have been awesome. But I have some firm opinions on other matters that I am sitting on because I am an optimist

Pomegranatespompom · 11/02/2021 19:43

I have a practised neutral face when my family/friends who are teachers discuss their lockdown experience.
