@Truelymadlydeeplysomeonesmum

Drive-through centres, which allow motorists to be vaccinated without leaving their cars, have been set up in St Albans, Hertfordshire, and at Queen Margaret University near Edinburgh, can do 720 jabs a day, 7 days a week Smile
My aunty is having her jag at that site on Monday!
TeaInTheGarden · 11/02/2021 11:18

Drive through vaccinations sound fantastic for those that have been shielding. Could be quicker too?!

louisejxxx · 11/02/2021 11:26

I know this can be a bit of a source of anxiety for some so my apologies in advance for asking the question - but does anyone know what category their general area/county is now contacting to book in? Is it safe to say most will probably be on the dregs of over 70s and getting in touch with group 5 now?

Shehz21 · 11/02/2021 11:34

I'd want to know that too.. MIL 67 in 2 weeks is anxious for her vaccine. She has asthma, dementia and is epileptic but not classed as CEV. I have been trying in vain to book her through the online vaccine link but it won't let me book her for now Sad

Welikebeingcosy · 11/02/2021 11:35

Checking in for the positive vibes

starfish88 · 11/02/2021 11:37

My parents are in rural Suffolk and in their late 60s but haven't been called yet. Their friends nearer Ipswich have started to get called in the 65+ category so even by county I think it's on a smaller scale. Friends in London have been called in their early 60s but they say it's a younger area so quicker to get through the older age categories.

Shehz21 · 11/02/2021 11:41

Ahh Starfish would you know which part of London?

Our GP practice is full of rude receptionists at the best of times and I don't want to call and bother them with asking when would MIL vaccine be due..

I'm in East London (Redbridge).

Suddenly wondered if that was outing! That I know some people in Wandsworth. Just as well I didn't tell you all about my DHs outing hobby!

Frazzled2207 · 11/02/2021 12:26

@TeaInTheGarden

Urgh did anyone watch itv, Robert Peston’s interview with the sage guy? Utterly depressing- avoid!!

I listened to world at one and that was better. I actually got emotional listening to Charles Walker ranting- it’s a relief to know at least one MP knows how stressed we all are and how much we need hope and something to look forward to!

I heard about that on another thread and on twitter. I usually watch Peston and am very pleased I didn't last night. But my take on it is that he is seeing it from a scientific pov. I do think the government at least tries to see the bigger picture especially the economy but also what people will and will not put up with. So they listen to what Sage has to say but that doesn't necessarily do what they say. Which can be good and bad.

My parents in Hampshire are group 5 and getting theirs Tuesday and childminder in Hertfordshire same group and getting hers tomorrow.
BunsyGirl · 11/02/2021 12:49

My area (in Essex) is moving on to group 5 next week.

mrsjoyfulprizeforraffiawork · 11/02/2021 12:58

@Shehz21 and @ILookAtTheFloor

I'm registered with a Redbridge practice (I am 66 so Group 5) and got a text yesterday inviting me to book appt and have just had it done this morning - they were whizzing through LOADS of people - I was in and out of the Vaccination Centre in under 10 mins (including 2 mins shuffling in being checked and 3 mins sitting waiting for vaccinator to be free). They had dispensed with making the newly vaccinated rest for 15 mins as there was nowhere to put us.

FuzzyPuffling · 11/02/2021 13:07

mrsjoyful I just want to say how much I love your username...as any fule no.

FuzzyPuffling · 11/02/2021 13:10

I am early 60s and CV and although nowhere near being vaccinated yet here, I did ask our PCN (through the medium of facebook) how they would prioritise Group 6, which appears to be a huge and ever increasing group.

They said they are waiting for instructions from PHE, so I am assuming someone, somewhere is thinking about it, rather than having a massive free for all. I live in hope...

Truelymadlydeeplysomeonesmum · 11/02/2021 13:11

St Albans 65+ Two friends been done
Enfield 50s Lots of people getting jabs
Waltham Forest Still doing CEV group

Mynxie · 11/02/2021 13:23

I had mine this morning, group 5 Bristol. I was told no waiting afterwards if you’ve had the AZ as long as you’re feeling ok.

alreadytaken · 11/02/2021 13:24

Two good Israeli drugs in trials now. www.timesofisrael.com/feeling-better-in-2-hours-covid-drug-for-critically-ill-starts-phase-3-trials/

I hear different things from around the country - some areas are doing 65-70 now and the government figures on how many 70+ have been done suggest they should be starting on them everywhere.

FuzzyPuffling · 11/02/2021 13:28

Our PCN has just done a FB post saying they are still doing group 4, with no news as to when they will be able to move on to group 5.

It seems to be random even when people in the same area.

MIL and DM both 66, MIL had hers last weekend nothing at all for DM yet. They live in the same town.

Just to say I know this is oblivious to most but make sure doctors practices have an up to date mobile number

My husband's didn't. Good thing I checked 🤦‍♀️ No idea how he thought they would contact him as house phone is buggered.

I found this article immensely heartening.

zeynep.substack.com/p/why-you-should-take-any-vaccine?utm_campaign=post&utm_medium=web&utm_source=copy

The fully whammy of the message is in the second half.

Iamclearlyamug · 11/02/2021 15:06

@TheKeatingFive what a great article 😍😍
