Is there anything we can do to help our T cell immunity?

TeaInTheGarden · 10/02/2021 16:11

Cases down to 13,013!!
(last Wednesday 19,202)

TheChineseChicken · 10/02/2021 16:15

@TeaInTheGarden

T cells, T cells, come on T cells!! 🎉
Wow
TheChineseChicken · 10/02/2021 16:15

I feel weirdly protective of the Oxford/AZ vaccine for some reason

tootyfruitypickle · 10/02/2021 16:18

I've just caught up with the world at one on my walk and there was a very reassuring scientist on there basically saying things really will be getting back to normal from the spring . Definitely recommend it , I feel much better, and then saw the flash about the WHO and Oxford!

TeaInTheGarden · 10/02/2021 16:18

@TheChineseChicken yes I know what you mean. I can remember when I first saw them talking about it and thinking how amazing it would be if it worked. And I’ve stalked their progress ever since!
There’s sooooo much riding on it too, so for the WHO to say this is just fantastic.

Mablefly · 10/02/2021 16:19

@MarshaBradyo

Yes I saw this. I love The Flaming Lips, beautiful songs and gloriously batty Smile

TeaInTheGarden · 10/02/2021 16:19

And apparently today is the lowest Wednesday figure since SEPTEMBER!!
(Wednesdays normally quite high, so to get 13k today is amazing I think)

TeaInTheGarden · 10/02/2021 16:19

@tootyfruitypickle is this a podcast? Think I need to see/hear it 😁

TheChineseChicken · 10/02/2021 16:21

On Monday I had a big sobbing meltdown on the phone to my mum because everything felt so bleak and I was so bloody tired of being cooped up in the house, with little alone time (I'm a massive introvert so spending 24 hours a day with my family is tough). But today feels a lot brighter. I'm sure a doomsayer will be along soon to pop my bubble.

TeaInTheGarden · 10/02/2021 16:21

I hope Boris isn’t coming on to spoil my good mood. I want to hold on to this.
Anyone ill so what he’s taking about this evening?

tootyfruitypickle · 10/02/2021 16:25

@TeaInTheGarden it's radio 4's world at one, second item today I think. They were the programme who had John bell on that day talking about how we would be returning to normal by the spring, so I like to think the programme editor is one of us !

thatgingergirl · 10/02/2021 16:25

TheChineseChicken - I feel like that about the AZ too. And looks like Chris Whitty and colleagues vindicated re dosing strategy too!

He's better not piss on my chips! Although it's a 5pm-er, not 8pm-er so shouldn't be too awful
Crumpetycrump · 10/02/2021 16:26

My good news is that DH has been accepted onto the new trial mixing Oxford AstraZeneca and Pfizer vaccines! I’m still waiting for my call though....

TeaInTheGarden · 10/02/2021 16:28

@tootyfruitypickle one of us in charge of a radio programme can only be good!!

The deaths graph is looking like the steepest black run slope now and deaths appear to be coming down at a faster rate than hospital admissions...more signs of the vaccine working its magic?? 🤞

thatgingergirl · 10/02/2021 16:31

Well done for volunteering CrumpetyCrump!

I was just going to come on and post about the weekly deaths with Covid on the death certificate, weeks ending:

8th Jan: 6,594
15th Jan: 7,771
22nd Jan: 9,056
29th Jan: 9,010

Given what we're now seeing on the daily deaths figure, it looks like we are past the peak.

I would also expect to see the average (mean and median) age of a Covid death start to come down, as a direct consequence of vaccine priorities

tootyfruitypickle · 10/02/2021 16:39

I've just noticed that the BBC news website have written up that interview in a completely different way to how I heard it (ie negatively !) .

Sir John Bell always cheers me up will have a listen

indeed I think it's because monday for whatever reason seems to be the highest day for actual tests. Which usually follows that wednesday is the highest number for reporting as most of those results would come back on Tuesday. When you look at specimen dates for tests the mondays are ALWAYS the highest of the week. 13,000 for the highest day of the week is really good progress.
