This is a continuation of the previous thread, www.mumsnet.com/Talk/coronavirus/4145954-6-3-million-people-vaccinated-already-brilliant

This thread is intended as a positive place to observe our remarkable vaccine rollout as it progresses and to celebrate the ever increasing numbers as we go.

Polite notice: conspiracy theorists, doommongers and those looking for endless debate over vaccine efficacy, leave vs remain and one-legged trousers - this is probably not the thread for you.

So, to pick up from where we left off... a truly tremendous 10,021,471 people in the UK have now received their first dose of the vaccine - that’s 18.9% (or 1 in every 5.3) of all UK adults.

There’s no doubt about it - there is an unmistakable light at the end of this long, long tunnel and every day it’s getting brighter. Come on folks - let’s do this!! Grin

31,847 were vaccinated in Wales yesterday, they have now hit their target of offering jabs to all those in Groups 1-4.

InterfectoremVulpes · 12/02/2021 13:56

So thats 96,728 so far 😬

InterfectoremVulpes · 12/02/2021 14:00

This may be a stupid question, but where do vaccine numbers for Channel Islands and IoM get reported?

Frazzled6 · 12/02/2021 14:06

England about 387k...

InterfectoremVulpes · 12/02/2021 14:07

386734 first doses in England.

InterfectoremVulpes · 12/02/2021 14:07

483,462 so far.

Truelymadlydeeplysomeonesmum · 12/02/2021 14:19

Over 500k today then

InterfectoremVulpes · 12/02/2021 14:23

You think NI will do 17k?

Eccle80 · 12/02/2021 14:32

@InterfectoremVulpes IOM data is here covid19.gov.im/general-information/covid-19-vaccination-statistics/

They are using the 3 week gap for second vaccinations

That’s a good point! I’d guess they are counted in the England figures?

I found this link for the Jersey numbers but it is only updated weekly: www.gov.je/Health/Coronavirus/Vaccine/Pages/VaccinationStatistics.aspx

These are the Guernsey numbers, but not updated since the end of Jan: covid19.gov.gg/guidance/vaccine

Mumoftwoinprimary · 12/02/2021 14:42

@InterfectoremVulpes

483,462 so far.
We need 490k to get to 14 million!

And no matter what we have made the famous 13.9m.

But come on N Ireland - I’m getting greedy now - I want 500k just for today!

lurker101 · 12/02/2021 15:08

@InterfectoremVulpes they reported 20,099 first doses in yesterday’s update so fingers crossed

TheHateIsNotGood · 12/02/2021 15:46

Yay - got my invite via my GP today - booked for next week - Group 6 (unpaid carer) North Devon. So they're getting a move on round here now. I'm also 55+ so that Group will be smaller.

Just to note - I got my invite via text from my Surgery with a link. As I don't have a smartphone I tried the NHS Booking site first but not eligible. So I typed the link into my laptop and hey presto it worked!

14 million!!!!Shock

GeorgieTheGorgeousGoat · 12/02/2021 16:04

14,012,224 to be exact. Phenomenal!

buttery81 · 12/02/2021 16:10

14,012,224 to be exact. Phenomenal!

When the 13.9 million people by mid-Feb target was announced, some (understandably, perhaps) said it couldn't be done.

Today, not only is it done, it's three days ahead of schedule!

Woooooohoooooooo!!!!

503,116 enough for your appetite?

CaveMum · 12/02/2021 16:19

Fan-bloody-tastic!

Goal smashed! Well done and thanks to everyone who has been a part of this well-oiled machine. Let’s hope we can keep the momentum going to get everyone done as quickly.

Parkandride · 12/02/2021 16:23

Yessss! Come on 15 million Grin

Also a friend who works in health care has just finished isolation and didn't test positive / have symptoms. They had their first jab about a month ago, and due to the nature of their work weren't in proper PPE and worked closely with a positive patient all day. Nice to see a real life example of the jab doing its thing!

Frazzled6 · 12/02/2021 16:27

I'm guessing we could see numbers jabbed rise significantly now that it's a younger group being vaccinated. More people, I assume will be happy yo go to the mass vaccination centres. Could we see over 600k tomorrow?

Truelymadlydeeplysomeonesmum · 12/02/2021 16:27

So that extra million to get to 15 million

Will it take us 2 days or 3 days?

Truelymadlydeeplysomeonesmum · 12/02/2021 16:30

600k capacity would make me say yes but I think this week a lot of places have still not fully achieved their best because of snow

DdraigGoch · 12/02/2021 16:31

On the basis that the next two reports are usually higher than the Friday one (for Thursday's vaccinations), we should smash through 15 million by the end of the day tomorrow (and have it announced on Sunday).

If groups 1-4 account for 88% of deaths, we assume that the vaccine does indeed prevent all deaths and serious illness, and we take the uptake as 85% (seems a reasonable figure looking at the data published so far), then roughly 75% of potential future Covid deaths in the UK have now been prevented.
