This is a continuation of the previous thread, www.mumsnet.com/Talk/coronavirus/4145954-6-3-million-people-vaccinated-already-brilliant

This thread is intended as a positive place to observe our remarkable vaccine rollout as it progresses and to celebrate the ever increasing numbers as we go.

Polite notice: conspiracy theorists, doommongers and those looking for endless debate over vaccine efficacy, leave vs remain and one-legged trousers - this is probably not the thread for you.

So, to pick up from where we left off... a truly tremendous 10,021,471 people in the UK have now received their first dose of the vaccine - that’s 18.9% (or 1 in every 5.3) of all UK adults.

There’s no doubt about it - there is an unmistakable light at the end of this long, long tunnel and every day it’s getting brighter. Come on folks - let’s do this!! Grin

We will roar through 13.9m today (in fact it was yesterday Wink). Today we will actually be roaring up to 14.5m Star

Probably - nothing beats seeing the official figure on gov.uk though (saddo that I am! Grin)

I really hope they get a wriggle on and get to the under 50's. We are the most mobile and arguably the most vulnerable when it comes to contracting and spreading the infection.

(Even if I can count the number of different places I have been where there are other people on one hand and have fingers left over)

Frazzled6 · 12/02/2021 10:10

I think the waiting is difficult, I know my GPS were texting over 65s at the start of the week. I cancelled work appointment in Bristol today( 260 mile round journey). I'd much rather wait to resume client visits once I've had my vaccine but its not always possible to defer. I'm Group 7 so not too long to wait. When I looked at county population and vaccines per day it looked like it would only take in total 4 months to do the whole county (if vaccine available and thats assuming 100 percent)

Oblomov21 · 12/02/2021 10:25

In Surrey, they are doing group 7, the over 60's. This is impressive. In other parts of the country they are further behind and haven't done some of the 75 year olds.

Frazzled6 · 12/02/2021 10:36

That's great @Oblomov21. My county was a little slower at the start because of bumpy supply. I know supply has been good this week. Im hoping maybe last week of February first week of March as best case scenario. My ex hasn't been contacted yet and I'm assuming hes group 6 because he was in the first shielding group.

(Lurker sticking head up...thankyou all so much for the sanity on this thread, it’s a lifesaver sometimes, my before bed reading)!
Can anyone let me know how you find regional vaccine figures? I know they are out there somewhere, but google doesn’t help! It’s Devon I’m after, if it makes a difference. I think Devon did well to begin with, but then had slowed down, but can’t find proper data now....

I am in need of this thread’s daily dose of positivity today.

Sage are reminding me of my fun sponge colleague Yvonne. She can suck anything dry of positivity, eg a young colleague had saved for a long time to buy a car she’d always wanted and Yvonne responded to her excited announcement with the stats on how many deaths her particular model had been involved in that year. She also calorie counts what we we eat. Piss off Yvonne.

NI have just extended online booking eligibility for CEV (until now they have been contacted by GPs for vaccine as part of GP rollout) to book at mass vaccination centres, and telephone booking will be extended to this eligible group from Monday. Should hopefully be some good numbers from NI this weekend

Sevensilverrings · 12/02/2021 11:09

@Frazzled2207, thankyou! Will trawl through now!

Sevensilverrings · 12/02/2021 11:09

Oops. Wrong frazzled! Sorry!

Frazzled2207 · 12/02/2021 11:25

No prob you’re not the first

Flossie44 · 12/02/2021 11:56

So excited!! Was sent a link to a pharmacy 15 miles away that are wanting to vaccinate group 5 ASAP. They gave a number to text. I’m group 6 but text anyway. The pharmacist called and I have my vaccine this afternoon!!

He said he has 95 vaccines to give today!!

Amazing!!

JohnMcCainsDeathStare · 12/02/2021 12:10

Hmm, that means I am in Group 10. Or possibly Group 11 if over 45 is a thing.

whenwillthemadnessend · 12/02/2021 12:25

Lord Yvonne sounds awful.

thatgingergirl · 12/02/2021 12:29

Oh, and DH got his vaccine invite letter this morning - he's 68! He wants to wait until mine arrives so we can book together, but I've told him not to be so daft.

thatgingergirl · 12/02/2021 12:31

Sorry - that was meant to be an add on to a post on another thread (but it fits here anyway!)

A friend got her jab by going with her older partner and asking if there was any chance of getting one too - they had some excess they needed arms for. She was apologetic about being cheeky but they said no, it was helpful! Her tip was to take along your NHS card to make it easier for them.
thatgingergirl · 12/02/2021 12:51

ScribblingPixie - thanks - I thought that might be a possibility on appointments late in the day. I don't mind waiting though - it would mean an extra 'escape' from the house! 😄

PuzzledObserver · 12/02/2021 12:55

I really object to the approach of shepherding people to adopt different behaviours through misleading them. It leads to all sorts of unintended consequences.

Yes, I can see your point - treating people like children etc. I can also see the other side - so many people think “advice” and “guidance” can be ignored, and it’s not only themselves they are putting at risk.

Fortunately I don’t have to make the decision about national policy.

gingeristhenewblack43 · 12/02/2021 13:09

@thatgingergirl my DM went along with DF and got offered her jab too as there had already been some no shoes that day.

Defaultname · 12/02/2021 13:33

So she was a shoe-in?

CaveMum · 12/02/2021 13:38

Scottish Health Secretary reporting 64,881 people were vaccinated in Scotland yesterday (no mention of how many were first or second doses).

They are on target to hit Groups 1-4 by 15 Feb and anticipate all over-50s to have had their first jab by end of May, subject to supplies.
