@NeedingCoffee

Another amazing vaccination stat; yesterday over 1% of the population received a vaccination in a single day.

How’s that for mind bogglingly good Grin

@Truelymadlydeeplysomeonesmum that's such a fantastic explanation thank you!

And wonderful news on the vaccine numbers, 1% is amazing.

I don't want to be the thread police on here but can we try and be careful about bringing bad news/doom mongering rumours over here to discuss?

Totally understand, but I think it can help to analyse these gloomy posts with more rational people without having doom mongers about and taking it down to their level of doom and gloom. A lot of posts are people not reading beyond a sensational headline.

Not saying I think they should be discussed, but saying this thread feels like a safe place to discuss something that might make us feel down and we can get picked back up here.

Hope I make sense. If I see something I do try to avoid mentioning it here, but I could personally use a positive perspective on these stories at times.

tobee · 31/01/2021 16:35

Sorry only just come back to this thread but to answer your much earlier question @FuzzyPuffling it's called St Austell Healthcare

FuzzyPuffling · 31/01/2021 16:38

Thanks tobee.

I think I agree with OrangeBananaFish - we can discuss things in a very measured way here, and there's usually someone with some "good news evidence" to reassure wobblers. And we all wobble at times!

InterfectoremVulpes · 31/01/2021 16:38

Essex has turned blue 🥳

Very promising data coming out of Israel www.theguardian.com/world/2021/jan/31/israel-covid-vaccination-data-offers-hope-exit-pandemic

FourTeaFallOut · 31/01/2021 16:57

Would the second dose even have kicked in yet? Confused Or does it not take two weeks to generate the immunity boost in the second dose?

Yeah completely see your point. I just find I see stuff mentioned here that I hadn't even considered then it sends me spiralling into a panic and that's the whole point of me being on this thread and avoiding the rest 😅
Truelymadlydeeplysomeonesmum · 31/01/2021 17:05

Fabulous news from Israel 🎉🎉🎉🎉

I think second dose would only have kicked in the very first lot that had the vaccine tops.
We already now from there data that after three weeks just before second dose cases and hospitalisation had dropped massively for the 80+. So that is a good indicator that even without the second good results can happen.

FuzzyPuffling · 31/01/2021 17:10

TJ17 I think you'll get some far better discussion here and plenty of reassurance too. You won't get dragged down the Doomy rabbithole. Stick around!

(Having said that, I've take a break or two, even from this thread, when it's all got a bit much)

FourTeaFallOut · 31/01/2021 17:10

Brilliant. I guess it's all wait and see from this point. The MRHA will be doing a well deserved victory dance if what they are seeing is simply the immunity building from the first shot.

Yes, sometimes it’s helpful to have a wobble on here so I can get a kick up the arse from the rest of you Grin

That news from Israel is an absolute belter. It's more than fingers crossed...it's a real light in the darkness.

I have just shed a few tears reading this about the operation in Newcastle (and I don’t even live there) what an amazing set up.

www.theguardian.com/society/2021/jan/31/industralised-vaccine-behind-scenes-at-newcastle-covid-operation

FourTeaFallOut · 31/01/2021 17:23

Best Guardian article since this time last year!

TheChineseChicken · 31/01/2021 17:30

That article about Newcastle was wonderful
oops - second bit is a promising antibody science.sciencemag.org/content/early/2021/01/22/science.abf4830
They observed this in Australia and NZ as well. Personally I think masks and hand sanitizing on public transport and shops etc during the winter months wouldn't be a bad idea from now on.

2020CanDoOne · 31/01/2021 17:48

I’m a total wobbler but I really love the science based positivity on here.

NothingIsWrong · 31/01/2021 17:51

I will never wear a mask inside unless I actually have symptoms. I find them claustrophobic and they steam my glasses up. I've tried many different types. I think mandating them wouldn't work, although I hope there is better acceptance of those who want to.

You wouldn't be allowed in our village shop then. No mask, no entry!

I'm a glasses wearer too and it is deeply annoying steaming up, but better than the alternative.

@BBCONEANDTWO

Oh my goodness! I have just noticed you linked to my website www.covidmessenger.com in the chat summary.

Thank you SO SO SO much!

I very much appreciate that! Smile

I am also DELIGHTED to share that we now have.... wait for it....

310 "green" councils in England (falling cases week-over-week) and just 5 "red" councils (rising cases week-over-week).

Isn't that good news?!!!

You can see all the individual councils and their daily cases and latest rate per 100k on the table on the www.covidmessenger.com homepage.

Click the county column to sort by county and get a super fast snapshot of the situation across your county.

TBH I expected more "noise" in the data, and didn't expect we could get quite such a great "green result"!

I am beginning to wonder....

......perhaps we really can get to an all green table on the www.covidmessenger.com homepage. Maybe this week.....

Wouldn't that be super!!
