NB Please don’t take this too seriously- it depends what vaccine delivery speed and uptake you estimate so it’s not written in stone.

Relieved, as we border a “ mutant town “ - not that we’ve been told which postcodes in said town are affected ....

Truelymadlydeeplysomeonesmum · 05/02/2021 18:56

My area is only a short way from one of the SA variant STAY HOME places. It has definitely made more people wear masks walking outside. Probably now half the people I see on my dog walk. Before only the odd person did.

Personally I hate masks but wear them in shops etc. Outside I would wear if in a crowded place. Not in the local park or forest though. Wouldn't want to go out if I had to do that.

I love the Tracey meme. Please endeavour to put it on all doomy threads!

And on George news... he's spent the day at the vets, having observations and tests. The lovely vets think it's a general infection caused by a puncture would they found on his back ( poor thing. He never fights usually) Ultrasound didn't show up anything in his bladder, except he is in too much pain to per. He's home now having lots of cuddles and fuss. DH is just doing a hot water bottle for him! Attached, photo of Sad George.

@JemimaPyjamas. Just watched this, sums up this current lockdown perfectly.

Pearl97 · 05/02/2021 19:59

Have you seen areas are now allowing walk ins for over 70’s and CEV. I think there must be a good supply for this to happen Smile

tobee · 05/02/2021 20:25

@louisejxxx I do have access to the full article. Unfortunately, I don't know how to do (or understand share tokens). I tried to screenshot the article but it's quite long.

JemimaPyjamas · 05/02/2021 20:38

It’s fab!

U.S. Nursing Homes See Covid-19 Cases Fall as Vaccines Roll Out

Snippet:

Covid-19 cases in U.S. nursing homes continue to decline, new federal data show, a fresh sign that vaccinating vulnerable residents is starting to help.

There were 15,154 new cases reported among nursing-home residents in the week ending Jan. 24, according to the latest data from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services. That is a steep drop from the previous week and the fifth week in a row nursing homes have reported lower new-case counts.

Revisions in future data releases are likely to push the most recent tally higher, but recent revision trends suggest the fall in case counts would remain intact. Nursing homes saw more than twice as many new resident cases in mid-December, when infections topped 33,000 for two consecutive weeks.

Blah! Sorry!
You mucked up the thread. Get your posts sorted🙈😂😂😂😂😂
Truelymadlydeeplysomeonesmum · 05/02/2021 23:23

Anyone have a prediction of how many cases we will have a day by 22nd February

I think that will dictate the opening up plan. Along with hospital admissions of course

Truelymadlydeeplysomeonesmum · 06/02/2021 00:55

The i newspaper says the UK is on track for every adult to get a coronavirus jab by the end of June. Pharmaceutical company AstraZeneca has told ministers it can deliver 100 million doses on schedule, with enough to give a first dose to all adults and a second jab to 15 million people in vulnerable groups, the paper reports, although it says supply disruption is still possible.

Lol!

louisejxxx · 06/02/2021 07:26

@Truelymadlydeeplysomeonesmum I’m going to go for maybe around 8000 a day cases by then, purely because I think the new Kent variant will mean the “resting rate” is higher than the old one was. I hope it will be less than 5000 a day by then.

Zogstart · 06/02/2021 08:21

This came from hearing good news so I’m including it here- I now have Bob Marley’s Jamming stuck in my head but instead of jamming I’m singing jabbing GrinGrinGrin

Pearl97 · 06/02/2021 09:16

Our local hub is allowing walk ins for over 70’s, so they must have done most of them!!! How good is that?
