Nadhim Zahawi is saying that schools will definitely reopen on March 8th. None of this tweaking the goalposts malarky.

There is still room in his statement for mucking around with the return to school in dribs and drabs but I think those of us who have young kids will be in. If secondaries return later then I'll still have my two eldest at home a while longer but it's a hopeful start.

God I hope so!
Blerg · 04/02/2021 11:05

I really hope schools do go back, and that it is safe to do so. This one is taking a toll on us all in my house. I can definitely cope until March 8th and having a date in mind really helps.

FourTeaFallOut · 04/02/2021 11:09

Yeah, I'm hitting my limit on homeschooling now. I'm utterly depleted in whatever quality it is that allows me to jolly ds3 along to do things he'd rather not in normal times.

@IncludeWomenInTheSequel

Taking refuge back on here! I've stepped out of the other long-running thread I was on, the group there is just so low-key negative about almost everything, and it was beginning to mess with me.

So, hello again Smile

If it is the one I am thinking of then. I know right 😶
Truelymadlydeeplysomeonesmum · 04/02/2021 11:13

@starfish88

I've been trying to spam positivity everywhere the last few days since I've had the strength. I've had some really 'up' days and want to use them to best effect!
Good for you 😊

Spread the positive news and the facts🥰

LetItGoGo · 04/02/2021 11:13

Well it was started as a thread to commiserate so it's hardly surprising!

LetItGoGo · 04/02/2021 11:14

Both sorts of threads have their used.

LetItGoGo · 04/02/2021 11:15

Uses, even!

Truelymadlydeeplysomeonesmum · 04/02/2021 11:21

Don't think I know anyone that isn't struggling with home schooling this time. Before is was a mixed bag. Everyones kids seem to be more affected too.

It will be great to get my primary school one back in school. However he really is not to bad to be at home

My 14 year old is really struggling with the online learning and lack of socialising though

Even if only part time I hope the teenagers get some time in school. The teen is worrying me. Plus his gcses next year will be mucked up

louisejxxx · 04/02/2021 11:22

Thursdays are always a struggle for us on the home learning front...today is a particularly bad one Sad

It is not the one I am thinking of then 😂

That one was supposed to be informative but now is just doom

starfish88 · 04/02/2021 11:24

And running back here to hide. There is no reasoning with some people.

MarshaBradyo · 04/02/2021 11:27

Starfish I think there are some stalwart worst casers on here.

Sometimes it’s easier to let someone else pick up the responding baton Grin

Truelymadlydeeplysomeonesmum · 04/02/2021 11:31

Sometimes they just twist everything around to gloom again don't they. I give facts, my opinion and try to reason.

However depending on my mood or how ridiculous they are being I just prat about. Crack jokes and post pictures. It isn't the response they are after which is good.

Inastatus · 04/02/2021 11:31

@starfish - I was on the same thread I think you are talking about and also had to duck out (not before calling out the doom monger who told the poor OP who was looking for reassurance that we wouldn’t be back to normal until 2025!).

Truelymadlydeeplysomeonesmum · 04/02/2021 11:32

Agree a relay race of responses

Oh for christ sakeAngry

starfish88 · 04/02/2021 11:42

You can criticize the UK for a lot but the vaccination campaign isn't one of those things.

Mousehole10 · 04/02/2021 11:46

2025! Some people are going to be a bit shocked aren’t they when we we go back to normal this year. Considering the vaccine rollout and the politicians now arguing whether we should keep lockdown for a few more weeks or not it’s not going to be 2025 is it (or even as late as 2022).

PuffinShop · 04/02/2021 11:46
@TeaInTheGarden
I think it will eventually but only when everyone will have been offered a vaccine. Children will be exempt I reckon. Iceland are already doing it.
Icelandic regulations allow people to be exempt from the border quarantine if they can present a vaccination certificate (or if they can prove they already had COVID and recovered). It doesn't permit you to travel to Iceland if you were not already allowed to! Isn't that what people mean by vaccine passport, something that will allow you to travel on condition of having had the vaccine?

I cannot wait for the messaging to flip so we are urged to go out and spend

PricklyPawPear · 04/02/2021 11:47

@starfish88

And running back here to hide. There is no reasoning with some people.
Some of them don't want to be reasoned with. Honestly, I believe some people are enjoying this and will be genuinely sad to see the end of it because they'll have nothing to occupy themselves with and no reason to sit barking orders at and shaming other posters. I don't know why they are enjoying it, but I believe they are.

Honest to God, the day I never have to read 'its a pandemic' in response to every single thread whether it's relevant or not on here will be up there with the best. It's intolerable and whilst there are genuine reasons for concern and sadness of course, I can't stand the smugness and superiority that is the real reason behind a lot of these comments and threads.

I'm primed. Although honestly, after a year of online shopping with Tesco I'm itching to wander into Lidl and pick up some cheap flowers and a fresh pasty.

(If Lidl have stopped doing pastries please can you not tell me)

starfish88 · 04/02/2021 11:55

Asos and H & M had better be ready!
