I think that today is JVT's 57th birthday. According to my cousin.
Happy birthday !

Truelymadlydeeplysomeonesmum · 03/02/2021 21:37

Happy birthday JVTSmile

I would have put him at early fifties

Frazzled2207 · 03/02/2021 22:02

@DayBath
Just read on Twitter

Paul Hunter, a professor of medicine at the university of East Anglia, has said his team is releasing a paper later this week which shows the Pfizer vaccine has an efficacy of 91% 21 days after the first dose.

scotlandg · 03/02/2021 22:27

Preliminary results of a study conducted by the Ministry of Health in Israel - Pfizer's vaccine is as effective against the “UK variant” as against the original virus discovered in China.

DayBath · 03/02/2021 22:29

That's great Frazzled I will keep an eye out for that. Also thanks scotlandg that's brilliant news!

TeaInTheGarden · 03/02/2021 22:31

@Truelymadlydeeplysomeonesmum she says care home staff where she is are getting done at the moment, so maybe they will be done soon?
I keep badgering her about it but she’s not particularly keen on getting the jab (but says she will when it gets to her) so not sure if she’s chasing it up.... 😳

TeaInTheGarden · 03/02/2021 22:34

Is anyone else a little worried about vaccine passports?
For us as a low risk family who have home schooled for months on end.... both of us are in our 30s so a while off a vaccine, kids won’t get a vaccine.... it will be mightily unfair if the vaccinated can go abroad before we can. Particularly as my brother and niece are abroad and I’ve not seen them for over a year. And our kids missed their holiday last year, and are missing another one this Easter.

Can anyone possibly reassure me this won’t happen??

Frazzled2207 · 03/02/2021 22:39

@TeaInTheGarden
I think it will eventually but only when everyone will have been offered a vaccine. Children will be exempt I reckon. Iceland are already doing it.

TeaInTheGarden · 03/02/2021 22:45

That’s what my sensible head says @Frazzled2207 and I really hope you’re right.
But with everything that has happened in the last year I panic thinking that literally anything could be possible. Boris opening pubs before schools will never ever leave me 😢

Furries · 03/02/2021 22:50

Watching Peston at the moment, hoping for some sensible discussions.

Frazzled2207 · 03/02/2021 22:50

Well @TeaInTheGarden
He won’t do that again. I can’t abide him but was quite encouraged the other day when he seemed to be quite clear that schools were definitely going back first but more to the point that he firmly believed that education was more important than anything else after health. So we’ll see.

TeaInTheGarden · 03/02/2021 22:55

@Frazzled2207 I actually think he would have got them all back for a month if the unions had not going against him.
But that’s history, I hate even thinking about it!
But it’s that sort of thing that’s scarred me and leaves me terrified he will do something else totally unfair.
Basically I have zero trust left, which is awful.

tobee · 03/02/2021 23:22

That would make sense @MissConductUS and I did wonder if it was a different company. Nonetheless I still hear it my head. I listen to a lot of US podcasts so that's probably where I've heard it?

tobee · 03/02/2021 23:35

By the way, to answer @Truelymadlydeeplysomeonesmum from way up thread: I didn't think restaurants would actually be open in March!! I just meant a birthday meal out with my sister would be lovely one day!! Grin

Truelymadlydeeplysomeonesmum · 04/02/2021 00:12

Ok thought you were getting a bit ahead of yourself thereGrin Would be good thoughWine

tobee · 04/02/2021 01:53

Weren't they going to trial different first and second doses anyway. That is what is happening with AZ and Sputnik now isn't it. They started that one a while ago. To try and see if it made the vaccines more effective.

Suppose it makes sense to do it with other brands too. Definitely good to have that evidence as well.

Didn’t realise this had already started, that is good news.
Frazzled2207 · 04/02/2021 08:27

Yes I heard about an az/Sputnik trial ages ago. But it could well be that a mixture of different vaccines produces a better result. It’s apparently totally normal for vaccines to end up working best this way. We didn’t pay attention in the past did we as to what exact brand of vaccine we were jabbed with.

TeaInTheGarden · 04/02/2021 08:35

Zoe data is looking positive. So hopeful that the next few weeks change things enough in hospitals to allow stuff to re start in March.

IncludeWomenInTheSequel · 04/02/2021 09:01

Taking refuge back on here! I've stepped out of the other long-running thread I was on, the group there is just so low-key negative about almost everything, and it was beginning to mess with me.

So, hello again Smile

Mousehole10 · 04/02/2021 09:06

I do read the other threads on here, and The last few days I’ve noticed a big difference in the tone of some of them. It used to be all doom but now there is a lot more positivity around. Just a few of the same doommongers going on about the same things. So I’m taking that as a good sign that people are staring to feel we are in a much better situation and things will get better soon.

starfish88 · 04/02/2021 10:30

I've been trying to spam positivity everywhere the last few days since I've had the strength. I've had some really 'up' days and want to use them to best effect!
