NB Please don’t take this too seriously- it depends what vaccine delivery speed and uptake you estimate so it’s not written in stone.

...are dropping a lot!

2020CanDoOne · 02/02/2021 14:52

Oh wow @Noodle765 - and they haven't even started vaccinating to my knowledge.

2020CanDoOne · 02/02/2021 14:55

Also, I know schools are a contentious issue, but I'm so pleased for the parents /guardians/carers in Scotland.

Covid: Scottish schools to start phased return this month

Pomegranatespompom · 02/02/2021 14:57

@2020CanDoOne that’s great news for Scotland. Hopefully, we’ll follow soon - safety measures in place of course !

whataballbag · 02/02/2021 15:02

Just had an email from my doctors. They have agreed I can go into priority group 6.

I cried for a solid 45 minutes! (Happy tears)

whataballbag · 02/02/2021 15:03

And my lovely CEV dad had his vaccine this morning.

There was a bit of a hoo haa as he was getting the Pfizer jab and has history of anaphylaxis but they got a doctor to consult with him and said it was fine!

Truelymadlydeeplysomeonesmum · 02/02/2021 15:03

Primary schools at least on the 8th🤞

Lovely news❤

Really happy for you to be in the vaccination figures very soon 🥰

Frazzled2207 · 02/02/2021 15:18

i'm England but with Scottish and Welsh schools making moves to return after half term I really hope that bodes well for kids in England.

Manzanilla55 · 02/02/2021 15:19

So grateful that we have this Good News thread.

FourTeaFallOut · 02/02/2021 15:20

Yeah, I have my fingers crossed for March 8th.

MarshaBradyo · 02/02/2021 15:21

It’s good re Scotland and Wales

Might swing opinion more towards going back here too

1990s · 02/02/2021 15:33

@Truelymadlydeeplysomeonesmum

1990s

Your first option is right Smile

The 9% that catch it are still protected from serious illness or death 👍🥰

Thank you! I was trying to explain it to DH, and he was adamant that the remaining 9% were as at risk as if they’d not had vaccine.

He was surprised that I was right, I wonder how many others think the same?

FourTeaFallOut · 02/02/2021 15:37

This kind of misinformation is rife. It's really worrying. More should really be done to clear up the communication around this because it's clearly a factor people are using when weighing up their decision to be jabbed or not.

1990s · 02/02/2021 15:47

Completely agree FourTea. He was genuinely getting really depressed and saying even with the vaccines it would still be such slow process as some would still be going to hospital etc even when jabbed.

Once I explained he cheered up a lot! Definite good news.

Thank you all lovely people - I love checking in to this thread, especially as I am one of those people who can't help themselves but click on every doom mongering thread and read them all - it's like an addiction, It does me no good but nevertheless I just keep on clicking.....

FourTeaFallOut · 02/02/2021 15:54

My DH has the annoying habit of telling me "news" I told him a week prior, there's no help for that.

Meanwhile, this looks good

www.telegraph.co.uk/global-health/science-and-disease/one-vaccine-dose-may-enough-people-already-infected-covid-19/

Hold on, I'll cut a paste on the next post because switching between tabs is pissing off my phone.

FourTeaFallOut · 02/02/2021 15:56

In a study published online late on Monday, researchers suggested that people who have previously tested positive for Covid-19 should be given just one dose of vaccine.

“I think one vaccination should be sufficient,” Prof Florian Krammer, a virologist at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai and an author of the study, told the New York Times.

“This would also spare individuals from unnecessary pain when getting the second dose, and it would free up additional vaccine doses,” he added.

(Only tested with Pfizer and Moderna, but it is interesting)

whataballbag · 02/02/2021 16:01

Just spoken to my dad, had his vaccine this morning and has reported that 'nothing has fallen off yet' Grin

MarcelineMissouri · 02/02/2021 16:02

Some fab figures for the Oxford vaccine including what looks like 54% reduction in transmission.

twitter.com/coronavirusgoo1/status/1356632557325062146?s=21

Also my cv friend who is 37 had her first vaccine yesterday!

TeaInTheGarden · 02/02/2021 16:04

This is awesome!!

MissConductUS · 02/02/2021 16:06

Apologies if this has already been posted, but Pfizer announced that they will deliver US doses sooner than expected and that Sanofi will be manufacturing 100 million doses of their vaccine. There's no detail about when or where it will go, but surely this is good news.

Pfizer plans to deliver 200 million doses of Covid vaccine to U.S. by May, sooner than expected

My lovely 92-year-old MIL had her first Pfizer jab last week with no side effects.

FourTeaFallOut · 02/02/2021 16:06

First dose: 9,646,715 and cases down to a little under 17k.

FourTeaFallOut · 02/02/2021 16:08

Happy days! A 54% drop in transmission is brilliant.

Pomegranatespompom · 02/02/2021 16:10

So happy to see that figure @FourTeaFallOut
