This is a continuation of the previous thread, www.mumsnet.com/Talk/coronavirus/4129412-1-5-million-people-vaccinated-already-brilliant

6,353,321 people in the UK have now received their first dose of the vaccine - that’s 1 in every 8.3 adults. It’s a truly remarkable achievement to have reached so many people in such a short space of time.

Welcome to the new thread and let’s keep the positive vibes going! Grin

I’ve just got home from a shift volunteering at our vaccination centre and we all commented today how the average age of patients was noticeably lower then even a couple of days ago - we’re definitely getting there!

buttery81 · 31/01/2021 14:41

That is wonderful to hear, @KittyMcKitty!

I and many others like me were vaccinated today at our local health centre.

Apparently they have been so efficient they're now onto 'the flu jab list' for which I am enormously grateful.

It was an incredibly slick operation, I'm not at all surprised they're doing so well.

Frazzled2207 · 31/01/2021 14:51

@buttery81
Yes indeed I’m getting confused between England and Uk figures.

Surely there’s a chance that the 10 millionth will actually happen today as I understand there is 1-2 day lag in reporting.

nevertakeabreak · 31/01/2021 14:54

Just finished my first shift as a vaccinator. Our clinic got through several hundred this morning. Everyone so grateful. No immediate side effects. Lovely to tick off boxes!

MiraWard1 · 31/01/2021 14:56

Enormous thanks to all the vaccine volunteers. (Sending individually wrapped chocolate biscuits to my local vaccine centre tomorrow)

I didn’t think of it like that - very exciting! We’re so tantalizingly close now.

Thanks to all those involved I have applied to help as a volunteer but apparently no spaces to train me at present

MaddieElla · 31/01/2021 15:00

Holy crap at today's number!! 😳

Bam bam bam!

CaveMum · 31/01/2021 15:06

Whoop whoop! I might even get my prediction of 12.8 million by the time this thread finishes!

Frazzled2207 · 31/01/2021 15:09

Lewis Goodall just pointed out on Twitter that at these numbers we’re about 1% of the uk adult pop per day. Putting aside what we’ve done already that suggests 200 days to do everyone twice.

Londt · 31/01/2021 15:12

Goodness me! That is an incredible figure!

I am so impressed by these super jabbers.

Once this is all over, can we move them on to something else? Like filling potholes? The UK would be pothole free in an hour Grin

It’s incredible. The numbers definitely seem to speed up as we head into the back end of the week and weekend.

Truelymadlydeeplysomeonesmum · 31/01/2021 15:37

😯 Holy cow. I wanted more than 500k a day but this is even better than I hoped 🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳

PuzzledObserver · 31/01/2021 15:41

@Frazzled2207

Sorry 540,000 but is easily highest ever and first dose totals nearly 7.8m
Where is 5is published, please?

Is that group 6? Which part of the country are you in? I’m still not sure if I fall in that group or not as a flu vaccine eligible asthmatic!
Eccle80 · 31/01/2021 15:49

It is great to see the numbers going up so fast, I hope it starts to have a real impact soon on preventing hospitalisation and deaths

gingeristhenewblack43 · 31/01/2021 15:50

@Mumoftwoinprimary it's worth a chance. My DM went along with my DF today for his vaccine and they offered DM it too even though she's the wrong side of 70. She was ecstatic.

Tell you DM to take her NHS number too so they can generate an appt for the 2nd dose. My DM didn't have hers with her so hasn't got an appt for her 2nd dose.

MiraWard1 · 31/01/2021 15:55

@Eccle80 yep, flu jab asthmatic here. In the SW (but the man receiving everyone went to pains to point out that the next region over aren't doing nearly so well! 😂 so it's quite variable here too!)

Eccle80 · 31/01/2021 16:03

@MiraWard1 that’s great, I’m glad you have been done! It’s positive to hear of a flu jab asthmatic being vaccinated as it seemed very confused as to whether we were eligible or not. I’m in one of the counties near the top of the lists for percentages vaccinated and our town seems to be one of the furthest through locally so I will stay hopeful of hearing something before too long!

CaveMum · 31/01/2021 16:05

@PuzzledObserver the Government data is published here, though they’ve not updated the figures today yet: coronavirus.data.gov.uk/?_ga=2.154613688.1816750437.1612023235-440513932.1611609206

You can find today’s data if you scroll to the bottom of this page and click on the Excel spreadsheet for 31st Jan www.england.nhs.uk/statistics/statistical-work-areas/covid-19-vaccinations/

MiraWard1 · 31/01/2021 16:05

Fingers crossed for you @Eccle80!

Where do I find out the local/regional stats? (No, I confess I haven't rtft)
