This is a continuation of the previous thread, www.mumsnet.com/Talk/coronavirus/4129412-1-5-million-people-vaccinated-already-brilliant

6,353,321 people in the UK have now received their first dose of the vaccine - that’s 1 in every 8.3 adults. It’s a truly remarkable achievement to have reached so many people in such a short space of time.

Welcome to the new thread and let’s keep the positive vibes going! Grin

I must say, we really are doing so well. 10 million is very much within our sights now! It’s fantastic.

Does anyone know if children will be done in any of the groups? It's such a great role out, I'm seriously impressed.

Afaik none of the current vaccines have been approved for underage people.
CaveMum · 30/01/2021 21:43

The vaccine is not approved for the under 16s, however at a recent press conference JVT did say that for those children that are extremely clinically vulnerable a conversation can take place with the child’s consultant to weigh up the risks of having the vaccine.

Truelymadlydeeplysomeonesmum · 30/01/2021 21:58

Yes. CEV children may be able to have vaccine of label. That means though it isn't currently approved to have it under 18.

It is a matter of their consultant weighed up the risks.

PuzzledObserver · 31/01/2021 09:19

I like following the live vaccine tracker. The last 1-2 days are only estimates, but I believe we are going to surpass 9 million people jabbed at some point today. We will reach 10 million on Wednesday, I think, though it won’t be in the official figures till Thursday.

Imagine that! 1 in 5 adults jabbed!

Mumoftwoinprimary · 31/01/2021 09:50

@gisbons Thanks for the link. Dad is now booked in for 12:45pm tomorrow. Mum is ironically “the wrong side of 70” (aka 69 and a half) but will be driving him in short sleeves just in case.

Frazzled2207 · 31/01/2021 12:58

My 74 year old parents are booked in in Wales for Thursday. Weirdly they weren't able to get appointments together and one is at 9am and one at 4! I have suggested my dad sit in the car while my mum gets hers and my mum asks nicely if they'll see my dad given that he's on the list for later that day anyway.

But it's not a huge journey for them (20 minutes each way) so if they end up doing it twice that day but both get it done, we'll all be very relieved.

Worth a try, apparently missed appointments are more likely to be morning ones. People from the same household can often be seen together too, no need to clean between patients.

1 in every 6.3 UK adults has now received their first dose of vaccine

The recent ONS estimates were that 1 in 8 people had had covid in England by the end of December, and slightly fewer in the other countries. Assuming this is accurate, more people in this country have now been vaccinated than have ever had covid, including in the first wave where most people couldn't get tested, and also including asymptomatic and mild cases where people likely weren't even aware that they'd had it.
Frazzled2207 · 31/01/2021 14:23

Nearly 560,000 more now in England only!!! Highest ever

Frazzled2207 · 31/01/2021 14:24

Sorry 540,000 but is easily highest ever and first dose totals nearly 7.8m

buttery81 · 31/01/2021 14:26

I hope so - that’s exactly what I predicted on the last thread! Grin
