This is a continuation of the previous thread, www.mumsnet.com/Talk/coronavirus/4129412-1-5-million-people-vaccinated-already-brilliant

6,353,321 people in the UK have now received their first dose of the vaccine - that’s 1 in every 8.3 adults. It’s a truly remarkable achievement to have reached so many people in such a short space of time.

Welcome to the new thread and let’s keep the positive vibes going! Grin

Great counter!

Gibraltar is set to have everyone fully done by the 4th of March.

@psychomath thank you! I've been looking for a website exactly like this.

DramaAlpaca · 24/01/2021 23:34

My elderly parents got theirs a week or so ago. They were delighted and I found myself getting very emotional.

FASDE1517 · 24/01/2021 23:39

That counter is brilliant ☺️

OhamIreally · 24/01/2021 23:49

@DownstairsMixUp

My nan has but second cancelled. I'm not feeling confident th government ignoring the timeframe between the vaccines. My nan is 83 and very vulnerable and sorry but she should of had her second vaccine ahead of a lot of other people I've seen getting it on my Facebook!
My mum's 82 and hasn't had her first yet. We're trying to be patient as there's a lot of people to get through and at least your nan now has some protection at least.
Oreservoir · 24/01/2021 23:55

@DownstairsMixUp. My df is 90 and I’m just grateful he’s had the first vaccine.

AuntyClementine · 25/01/2021 00:15

My 87 year old Gran had her first shot this week. She was initially left off the list by mistake but a phone call to the surgery sorted it and they saw her the following day. Really pleased about it and looking forward to her getting the second shot.

Lovely new thread! I can smell the hope and positivity [sigh]

FourTeaFallOut · 25/01/2021 07:14

6.3m, that's an awesome figure to start a new thread. Wonder what it will end on?

GeorgieTheGorgeousGoat · 25/01/2021 07:19

4 new mass vaccination centres open in London today.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 25/01/2021 07:19

I was close with my guess Grin I'd said 6 million for the new thread title, but not til Mon/Tues.

I expect the snow will slow things down a bit over the next couple of days. We mustn't worry, though it will be hard for any delayed people.

WetJan · 25/01/2021 07:21

Checking in. Feeling very protective of this little bubble of positivity. The "hide" function has been well utilised this weekend Grin

lovelemoncurd · 25/01/2021 07:23

Is that counter accurate? Do the day time vaccines exceed the night time. I guess it just evens out.

TryingNotToPanicOverCovid · 25/01/2021 07:25

I'm group 6 and have been avoiding shops/people etc. Ive been watching the vaccine counter get closer and closer as its sped up. And now I have it and no idea how. So close....

Im still thankful its going in the right direction!

GeorgieTheGorgeousGoat · 25/01/2021 07:30

@lovelemoncurd

Is that counter accurate? Do the day time vaccines exceed the night time. I guess it just evens out.
I think the counter just estimates based on the current daily rate and spreads it out across the day.
GeorgieTheGorgeousGoat · 25/01/2021 07:32

Although I’ve just looked and it already says 6.9 people?!

Pootle40 · 25/01/2021 07:33

Blue envelopes with appt times arrive for over 70s in Scotland from today-through the most heavily populated central belt !

FourTeaFallOut · 25/01/2021 07:38

That's first and second jabs.
BeakyWinder · 25/01/2021 07:42

The roll out of the first dose has been amazing, I will admit I am a bit worried what will happen when they have to loop back to do no.2, will 1st doses slow down or stop, keeping us in lockdown Sad

buttery81 · 25/01/2021 07:51

4 new mass vaccination centres open in London today

What wonderful news to wake up to! Smile

If they can continue at around 1/2 a million doses per day, we're looking at another 30 million people done before we reach the end of March and need to start looping round again. And hopefully by then we'll be getting even more doses done, so even if the rate drops for the remaining 20 million or so of the adult population it shouldn't grind to a complete halt.

And more good news - thank you!

People being fine thus weekend will be fully vaccinated by 17/18 April and 'safe' by a fortnight after that. The rest of the over 70s and younger CEV should be done in the next couple of weeks, so good protection of the most vulnerable by May is looking good.

It won't be that far behind that the CV are done - they're opening up categories 2 at a time before, so perhaps again?

There could be the most enormous difference by the Summer Solstice

And we are so far ahead of so many other countries (second globally?) - it's a real success story

movingonup20 · 25/01/2021 07:58

Brilliant, just wish my mum isn't insisting on holding out for the Oxford vaccine, my brother has promised to try and persuade her to book at her drs
