This is a continuation of the previous thread, www.mumsnet.com/Talk/coronavirus/4129412-1-5-million-people-vaccinated-already-brilliant

6,353,321 people in the UK have now received their first dose of the vaccine - that’s 1 in every 8.3 adults. It’s a truly remarkable achievement to have reached so many people in such a short space of time.

Welcome to the new thread and let’s keep the positive vibes going! Grin

@gisbons Add another to your total - my early 70s CEV mum used the link Monday and got jabbed Tuesday. Text from GP saying to book in on Wednesday Grin

She is very pleased because she got a confirmed date for her second jab, whereas friends who went via the GP route have not.

buttery81 · 29/01/2021 15:41

I can't believe people disagree with using the link (it won't let you book unless you're eligible so what's the issue)

Exactly @mum2aanda and no, neither can I! Fabulous about your mum and her neighbours - congratulations to all!

@lurker101

Mumsnet really needs a like button for all these fabulous vaccine posts 😂
Agree 👍😆
ErrolTheDragon · 29/01/2021 16:00

I must have missed something... so, there's a link to a site specifically designed to enable to book their vaccination (presumably to reduce NHS admin burden?) and some people think it shouldn't be used? Confused

buttery81 · 29/01/2021 16:02

@ErrolTheDragon bizarre, isn’t it? There’s more info here: www.mumsnet.com/Talk/coronavirus/4150020-Vaccine-link-thread

Thanks for your nature thread earlier by the way - it’s just the soothing tonic I need!

I'd like to see some form of way of being called at short notice where it does not exist already, to make sure absolutely no doses are not used.

Motorina · 29/01/2021 16:25

@gisbons I shared teh link on my village FB group, and a number have reported successfully booking. Thankyou.

Brilliant news!
From Guardian live feed:

Government data up to 28 January shows of the 8,369,438 jabs given in the UK so far, 7,891,184 were first doses - a rise of 443,985 on the previous day’s figures.

Some 478,254 were second doses, an increase of 1,956 on figures released the previous day.

The seven-day rolling average of first doses given in the UK is now 358,297.

Based on the latest figures, an average of 418,166 first doses of vaccine would be needed each day in order to meet the government’s target of 15 million first doses by 15 February, PA reports.

FourTeaFallOut · 29/01/2021 17:00

Are they saying 15m again? I thought it was 13.5m and that is presuming 100% uptake? I wonder why this figure keeps changing - you'd think, among the hundreds of briefings, someone would have nailed it down by now?
