This is a continuation of the previous thread, www.mumsnet.com/Talk/coronavirus/4129412-1-5-million-people-vaccinated-already-brilliant

6,353,321 people in the UK have now received their first dose of the vaccine - that’s 1 in every 8.3 adults. It’s a truly remarkable achievement to have reached so many people in such a short space of time.

Welcome to the new thread and let’s keep the positive vibes going! Grin

buttery81 its my understanding that the letter is generated once a person becomes eligible on the booking system, so if they can book it means the letter is somewhere out there anyway.

buttery81 · 29/01/2021 10:53

Thanks everyone - I will let her know! May as well keep trying Smile

8 million tomorrow would be AMAZING!!!

Wouldn't it just!!!

My dad had a very positive experience after booking by the link @Gisbons, expected queues but sailed in and out. I'm very grateful to those who made me aware of it. And his didn't work to start so only became possible when he was eligible, no queue jumping!

I think people heard about the NHS staff booking links that were open to abuse and jumped to the same conclusion here

Was at the supermarket earlier and heard a few chats between older customers discussing their jabs, we are getting there!!

Babdoc · 29/01/2021 10:58

Sadly, I live in Scotland and we are running two months behind England for the same age group. I typed my details into the vaccine calculator, it’s late Feb for England but late April for Scotland.
The SNP couldn’t run a bath, but this is particularly crap even by their low standards.

LetItGoGo · 29/01/2021 11:03

I'm in Scotland too and I feel a bit bleak about my chances.

LetItGoGo · 29/01/2021 11:05

I googled and my age group have been promised end March in England end May in Scotland. Not bothered with calculator.

I love all these little anecdotes - it just goes to show how it's really getting out there!

If we can get past 7.6 million today (which I'm sure we will) that means just over 1 in 7 UK adults will have received the first dose of vaccine.

I find that so comforting - to think that if you're standing in a room with just 7 people, one of them will have had that first dose!

@Babdoc sorry to hear that, I really hope things speed up for you soon.

I know everyone says it but I really do remember when it was all fields around here. It's definitely got nastier. The nice 'pockets,' like this thread, are sadly becoming all too rare.

I've ventured onto a few other coronavirus threads and they're beyond awful. I think I will stick to this one only from now on!

How ridiculous to take down a helpful thread.

I used the link for my in-laws and couldn’t book the first time. Checked the next day and could book but MIL wanted to check it was all legit (doesn’t trust the internet) so called her GP surgery who urged her to book as it will either save them the job of sending out the letter or it’s already been sent out so will speed up the process. (They did then get the letter).

I agree about sticking to this thread. Venturing out yesterday gave my mental health a kicking. I just wanted more information on the EU squabble and was confronted with a mixture of hysteria and anger, eg ‘YOU DONT WANT TO SHARE OUR VACCINES BECAUSE YOU WANT OUR EU FRIENDS TO DIE’.

I won’t be leaving again Smile

Just placemarking as I love this thread!

buttery81 · 29/01/2021 11:45

Thank you for that Errol! An interesting read and it's not behind the usual paywall for some reason either.

I noticed the article says that fewer vaccinations will be given this week because supply has fallen by around a fifth. But then it goes on to say: 'Officials said that next week’s supplies would increase again as part of a “lumpy” delivery schedule.'

So it sounds like the numbers should be going up again next week!

You can read it because I'm a subscriber and can make a certain number of 'sharetoken' links which can be read by anyone.Smile

buttery81 · 29/01/2021 11:59

@ErrolTheDragon very kind, thank you! Smile

gisbons - Thank you for all the help you have given people to get jabs they or their loved ones are entitled too.

I have been reading your helpful posts and thinking what an amazing job you are doing helping everyone.

Hopefully mumsnet will realise that too. Also that you are right some posters seem to deliberately be causing vaccine anxiety or trying to blocking others getting help.

I used to visit a particular thread in first lockdown to calm myself with factual information. Nowadays this has turned into agenda riddled opinions rather than crushing numbers and exploring evidence. Not seeing mumsnet delete those posts.

Anyway sure most people are very grateful to you and you should be really proud of yourself Smile

Truelymadlydeeplysomeonesmum · 29/01/2021 12:01

1 in 7 today would be awesome Grin

HairyFloppins · 29/01/2021 12:06

My parents are finally eligible here to book in North Staffs.

They are early 70s and it's only down the road.

Thanks for sharing the link.

Ugh I got so excited and looked online to book for my parents but they’re in Wales Sad

Summerflowers101 · 29/01/2021 12:26

Today I got my vaccine! 31 CEV and my partner got his - front line social worker. Both Pfizer

CaveMum · 29/01/2021 13:48

Hurrah for all the jabs! My dad (72 and CEV) is being done imminently (1pm appointment!)

lurker101 · 29/01/2021 13:51

Mumsnet really needs a like button for all these fabulous vaccine posts 😂

mum2aanda · 29/01/2021 15:31

Thanks Gibsons
I posted on the other thread and got shot down for 'jumping the queue'!
I used the link to book for my 79 year old mum (her later arrived later!) at a mass Vac hub in Stevenage.
Told her elderly neighbors (75 & 78) who managed to book using the link so got their vacs the next day, they were waiting for a call from their GP / letter - the link said they were eligible and hence booked ! No jumping whatsoever.

I can't believe people disagree with using the link (it won't let you book unless you're eligible so what's the issue)

Anyway, love this thread and my year is full listening to people who are able to get their vacs and book for loved ones 💕
