This is a continuation of the previous thread, www.mumsnet.com/Talk/coronavirus/4129412-1-5-million-people-vaccinated-already-brilliant

6,353,321 people in the UK have now received their first dose of the vaccine - that’s 1 in every 8.3 adults. It’s a truly remarkable achievement to have reached so many people in such a short space of time.

Welcome to the new thread and let’s keep the positive vibes going! Grin

The estimate on the counter reckons that 10% of all of the doses in the world have been administered in the UK.

Not bad for a small island.

@Parkandride

Come on 7 million!

My dad is being done today, thanks to those who posted the link. 2 days ago it said he wasn't eligible then he heard his local area were moving onto his age group and tried again yesterday with success. Gives me a lovely optimistic feeling today Smile

Wonderful

There are some really well informed and helpful posters here aren't there 😊

gingeristhenewblack43 · 27/01/2021 09:42

@Parkandride that's fantastic news 🎉

PuzzledObserver · 27/01/2021 09:48

I like checking the live vaccine counter at intervals through the day (yes, I know it’s an estimate) and willing it up to the next .01% of population.

buttery81 · 27/01/2021 09:59

They are the figures from the day before. So Sunday and Monday figures are in fact Saturday and Sunday figures

It seems it’s the Sunday and Monday figures (reported on Monday and Tuesday) that are the lower ones though, unless I’ve misunderstood?

I cannot wait to get over the 7 million mark today. 4pm is genuinely becoming the highlight of my days! Grin

Very impressive!!

And that’s wonderful news @Parkandride - congratulations to your dad!

A few exciting milestones to look forward to:

7.6 million: over 1 in 7 UK adults will have received their 1st dose of vaccine

8.4 million: if we were vaccinating the first 4 priority groups in exact order, the top two groups plus the 75-79 year olds will all have had their 1st dose of vaccine

8.9 million: over 1 in 6 UK adults will have received their 1st dose of vaccine

10 million: it’s 10 million, what more can I say!!! Grin

10.6 million: exactly 1 in 5 (20%) of UK adults will have received their 1st dose of vaccine

11.7 million: if we were vaccinating the first 4 priority groups in exact order, the top 3 groups will all have had their 1st dose of vaccine

13.25 million: exactly 1 in 4 (25%) of UK adults will have received their 1st dose of vaccine

13.9 million: we’ll have vaccinated the top 4 priority groups!

Great list @buttery81 Smile

thatgingergirl · 27/01/2021 10:43

Loving the enthusiasm buttery!

The snow has all gone from my area - I'm hoping that means more vaccination appointments are available and filled today and the numbers are high!

Great news! Normally I love the snow but not this year. It's all melted where I am too!

@buttery81 love the list.

Highlight of my day is the approx 4pm data update on the vaccinations 😁

Truelymadlydeeplysomeonesmum · 27/01/2021 11:49

buttery81 - Fabulous stuff

I can't believe be 15th February we should have 25% of the population vaccinated

That is mind blowing 😯

Blessex · 27/01/2021 12:47

Reports that the J&J jab is due to publish stage 3 trial results very shortly. We can trust the MHRA will be already looking at those results and gearing up for approval. And that is one dose!

psychomath · 27/01/2021 13:21

@DdraigGoch

The figures from Sundays and Mondays (published on Mondays and Tuesdays) have been showing significant troughs compared with the rest of the week for a while now. Odd that it's Sun/Mon rather than Sat/Sun but perhaps Mondays are lower as this is when the deliveries come in after the weekend and the doses have to be prepared.
I was thinking this too, and the fact that someone thinks they saw the vaccine being transported on a Monday supports that. Also Mondays don't seem to be troughs in Northern Ireland, and it would make sense if they were on a different delivery schedule to the rest of the UK.

Of course we don't know if it really was the vaccine that the poster saw and there's not enough data yet to say whether the Monday dip is a pattern or just a coincidence. But if it is, my money's on what you said as the explanation.

NI have announced that further details on an online appointment booking platform will be released this week for those aged 65-69. This should be a speedy process and reduce anxiety and “wasted appointments”

I'm so pleased that my elderly parents, two elderly aunts and my parent's neighbour were all vaccinated last weekend - the relief is wonderful.
And our area is opening further vaccine nubs to roll out the AZ soon.
All good news.
We need this thread, amongst all the doom and gloom, so thanks OP, your enthusiasm and positivity is like a breath of much needed fresh air.

And more good news - I know some of us love JVT - he's on the press conference tonight. Grin

lurker101 · 27/01/2021 14:47

Fantastic! @SophieB100 did you see his mum got her vaccine last week? I bet she’s so proud of her “Jonny”
