For all your vaccine news, treatment development stories and other positive things to make you feel there is hope for the future!
Good news only please!

Useful websites we are referring to a lot:

Government daily statistics

Worldometer for international case number comparisons

Covid Messenger for local authority figures, thanks to LittleOwl for all her hard work!

OurWorldInData international vaccination figures

Omnicalculator vaccine queue calculator NB Please don’t take this too seriously- it depends what vaccine delivery speed and uptake you estimate so it’s not written in stone.

The BBC report about the saliva tests:
Covid-19: No-swab saliva test finds symptomless cases www.bbc.co.uk/news/health-55840547

Florelei · 28/01/2021 18:32

Thanks @TJ17 it’s a very stressful time for a lot of people so I didn’t want to add to that burden!

I just saw this. Very promising. We really need simpler accurate tests that don’t have to be sent off to a lab. LFTs are clearly not up to the job for asymptomatic cases.
And a spit test is going to be so much easier especially for kids

EekThreak that was me. Yes, a lot of blue and some green in the county now, and if you have been watching the local data over the last couple of weeks there was a massive spike in over very rural area with hardly any people in it that also happens to have a prison so reckon we had a prison outbreak which kept the county purple a bit longer than it would have been otherwise.

HE'S GOT IT BOOKED!

Saturday week. Coincidentally, the same date as he had his stem cell transplant. For those that asked. He's 55 and CEV.
I am so relieved. And bless him, he just said " but we need to get you yours".

chri55ie · 28/01/2021 19:24

Oh well done @FuzzyPuffling that’s great news!!! Congratulations! X

Did he get a text/ phone call/ did his slot open up via the online booking?

FuzzyPuffling · 28/01/2021 19:30

He got a text from the GP surgery with a link to book. He picked the absolutely first available slot. It's at the nearest PCN hub, so not a 3 hr round trip.

So many people posting on threads about jabs or appointments today😊
