Endless Propaganda

I cannot believe the endless Covid propaganda on the news channels at the moment. There doesn't seem to be any challenge to the stay at home/don't kill Gran/crying nurses narrative at all.

I am pretty disgusted by the emotional manipulation and attempts at behaviour modification going on.

Or am I being unreasonable...

To all those says its about the NHS etc etc and the fact it's underfunded..... What sort of funding or NHS do they think we will have once the economy have been destroyed any more than it already has...

Even to get it back to its origionally poorly funded state they are going to be raising taxes, freezing pay rises.

I just looked up the original version of these

I really do avoid print and tv as hadn’t seen them

The originals are not effective

Every day 24 000 people die of hunger across the world. Not just in the last year but for many, many years. Every single day. About 50% of them are children.Yet we tolerate that. Nearly 9 million people dying every year from something that is preventable. And yet, life goes on as normal for most of us.

It's the hypocrisy I find difficult.

shamalidacdak · 23/01/2021 21:07

Good I'm glad it's been shoved down our throats because that's the only way to get people to obey the rules. We'll be in the same place this time next year if we're not careful. It's better than being welded into our homes like in Wuhan. Oh and guess what? Wuhan is Covid free now. Hmmm I wonder how that happened? The number of bloody whingers on here worrying about when they can next go on holiday is insane. If we all do our part and get vaccinated only then will we resume anything like normalcy.

MarshaBradyo · 23/01/2021 21:08

I find the replacement ones pretty hard hitting though

WiseUpJanetWeiss · 23/01/2021 21:11

AND WITH NO ECONOMY THERE WILL BE NO HEALTH SERVICE

The same is true in reverse. There’s a reason the NHS was created in the first place.

@ 99victoria I agree. 10,000 children die each day from hunger. I find that impossibly sad and unjust.

StrugglingICUnurse · 23/01/2021 21:21

@Remmy123

I am fed up with it - there is no balance!!

How about all the millions that have had covid and barely had a sniffle.

Don't get a takeaway coffee you will kill someone
Don't send your child to nursery as it will send nursery workers to ICU
Don't see your loved ones for a year

Ridiculous!! I'm not saying it isn't real but where is the balance ffs

But I am looking after nursery workers in ICU! It's undeniable.
GandTisgoodforme · 23/01/2021 21:21

YANBU.

To be honest, I lost interest after I discovered CCG'S were circulating guidance on allowing doctors to record on death certificates that someone died with / of COVID using just 'clinical judgement', without any form of COVID test being carried out, and that's apparently acceptable. Given that coughs, colds, fever etc are a common winter theme, how can a doctor confidently say it was COVID? I'd have thought in the midst of a global pandemic that accuracy of reporting COVID cases and deaths was paramount. (The deaths recorded this way are factored into the weekly ONS death toll if anyone's unsure)

Kendodd · 23/01/2021 21:21

One thing I think I've learnt for this is that there is no middle way. You either go ultra hard and fast and try to eradicate covid (my preferred option) or you let rip, bury the dead and get on with life. This middle way destroys both the economy and lives.

And I haven't seen any of the government adverts, does anyone have a link?

Pissedoff1234 · 23/01/2021 21:23

So going out of the house and passing joggers is passing the virus on and people will die but still elite sports people are ok to play and crush into a changing room.

grassisjeweled · 23/01/2021 21:24

But they're black kids, right? So they don't really count.

Old white people?? Stop the world.

Codswallop.

There are plenty of counties without health services which have decent economies. They may not be that equal, for sure, but the economy functions.

Economy first, health second. Coronavirus has killed an additional 0.1pct (vs the usual 1pct) of the UK population over the past year. Mostly old. A pandemic with that impact does not destroy an economy like the Black Death did (30-50pct of the entire population).

Name these plenty. Give some data.

Lastfreakinglegs · 23/01/2021 21:39

I actually think the media have blood on their hands for their constant peddling of fear and panic and dispair. They are not reporting suicide figures. They should be.
