I’m confused Confused

MarshaBradyo · 19/01/2021 18:04

@herecomesthsun

I didn't want to say on this thread as it is rather sad. Are you talking about me *@MarshaBradyo* perhaps?

I really don't think of myself as afraid, rather as someone who follows the science and takes the situation seriously.

And is looking forward very much to vaccines changing the current situation.

No I’m really not but there’s a name changer who uses it a lot after saying really outlandish stuff. A fair few posters have commented on it
1990s · 19/01/2021 18:09

Please, please can we just stop it Sad

It’s not hard. Think - is what I’m about to write good news. If it’s not, please don’t write it here.

Sorry herecomesthesun but I include your recent questioning posts in that.

Pomegranatespompom · 19/01/2021 18:12

@littleowl1 I have shared your website with friends and it’s is so cheering - thank you very much.

FourTeaFallOut · 19/01/2021 18:18

I mean the thread title is apt. We're going to have some many animals on this boat to settle this shit down it's going to be a feeling ark.

FourTeaFallOut · 19/01/2021 18:19

Fekking

Sorry, but this is a discussion board and we are allowed to disagree with people.

Although I have not written anything that was not true and realistic and actually what I have said is generally positive Smile

Pomegranatespompom · 19/01/2021 18:27

Does anyone have the link for the vaccination real time numbers? Really worth posting again if anyone has it please.

thatgingergirl · 19/01/2021 18:32

Do you mean this Pomegranatespompom? coronavirus.data.gov.uk/

Or is there something somewhere ticking up 140 times a minute?! (Actually, that might hurt my eyes!)

herecomesthsun · 19/01/2021 18:33

Nice positive article about vaccines here

Why is it a discussion thread when you have your pointing finger out but when anyone else is less than angelic in the face of being told how to be positive, apparently it's a support thread?

TJ17 · 19/01/2021 18:36

Oh bloody hell where's that little pony again...

InterfectoremVulpes · 19/01/2021 18:40

This is a thread to discuss positive news.

Its pretty rude and disruptive(and verging on trolling) to come on a thread to post off topic stuff and then pull the "its a discussion board" shit.

Thank you @thatgingergirl someone has previously posted a a chart which seemed to show real time increases. Lovely to see the 4.2 million on the link you posted.

Agreed. There are many many places on MN to have a discussion.
herecomesthsun · 19/01/2021 18:50

Erm, I respectfully don't think so. The thing is, I think we need to respect the gravity of the situation - saying that the rest of the board is not "sane" might be too dismissive of this - while looking for the positives.

I think it is healthier to be carefully balanced in that way.

Given that we need to be careful and keep ourselves safe.

While waiting in hope for vaccines, re-opening of shops, Easter, music, cinemas, cafes.

MarshaBradyo · 19/01/2021 18:53

Overall I think this thread does respect the guidance

I don’t know for everyone but one reason I stick to here rather than the AD one is that I think it’s counterproductive to not follow rules and even more so to post about it - due to behaviourial reasons re public

So yes we can limit to the positive whilst being really good about rules. The two are not mutually exclusive

MarshaBradyo · 19/01/2021 18:54

So I don’t see the need for anything other than good news on this thread. At all. Even retracted statements.

MarcelineMissouri · 19/01/2021 18:55

@herecomesthsun no one on here is pretending the bad things aren’t happening, it’s precisely BECAUSE they are happening that it is nice to have a thread where that’s not what we’re talking about? There are a million other threads discussing death rates and long COVID and government fuck ups and I doubt there is a poster on here who isn’t aware of these issues. Indeed it’s precisely because I am so aware of the crap that I like to come on here and try and focus on the positives so I don’t go insane and I’m sure that’s the case for most. Having a thread where we’re not talking about it isn’t the same as pretending it’s not happening.

Daydreamsinglorioustechnicolor · 19/01/2021 18:56

I've only just found this thread after stopping going on the AD ones as I found they veered too far the other way for me.
From what I've seen no one is not respecting the gravity of the situation, they just don't want to talk about it, or even read about it here.

InterfectoremVulpes · 19/01/2021 18:56

Theres a whole board out there to discuss the gravity of the situation. THIS is a thread to discuss good news.

Stop derailing and taking it off topic.

Pomegranatespompom · 19/01/2021 18:59

Yes we need to be balanced but often that isn’t happening, for example there was a lot of anxiety 3 weeks ago from a tweet where a nurse said wards were full of children. Several Paediatric consultants spoke out and stated this wasn’t true - yet some posters continued to believe the nurses narrative and berated anyone with a different perspective.
That’s not being balanced - it’s choosing to believe something that suits your opinion/agenda.

herecomesthsun · 19/01/2021 18:59

I'm not taking it off topic.

I was pointing out a couple of comments that concerned me, as cautiously and politely as I could Smile. While also discussing good news.
