@TheChineseChicken

I think we need a similar photo when George Clooney gets his
Rather than when Boris gets his.

@FourTeaFallOut

Did you think he was all, "I didn't think this through - I should have worn a short sleeve" or "You're welcome Wink"?
I think he knew exactly what he was doing... let's hope Boris has an undervest!
theotherfossilsister · 19/01/2021 09:49

Checking in please

Happy birthday Ginger girl.

Molten, I too follow dawn and dusk times near obsessively at thisvtome of year. Apparently civil/civic(?) twilight means dawn or dusk so enough light to see, be outside, have a run.

TheChineseChicken · 19/01/2021 10:06

@TheCountessofFitzdotterel why would you put that image in my head?!

sashagabadon · 19/01/2021 10:11

That photo has really cheered me up Grin
I can’t think of a single British politician I’d like to see getting his jab with his shirt half off. Maybe Keir? Actually on second thoughts no Grin

The Omnicalculator vaccine estimator has been updated so it no longer tells you not to be so silly if you change the vaccination rate to 4 million a week Grin

chri55ie · 19/01/2021 11:25

It defaults to 2 million now as opposed to 1million which is good. My estimated time to get vaccine has gone from March to April now and I can’t work out why?

LetItGoGo · 19/01/2021 11:42

Good news all round.

TeaInTheGarden · 19/01/2021 11:42

Zoe new cases have dropped just under 40k 👏🏻🎉

clarexbp · 19/01/2021 11:48

I've just been on the vaccine calculator again. What do we all reckon uptake will be? It's got 70.6% as the default, but I reckon that's on the low side.

On the one hand, I hope it's really high. But on other hand, the lower it is, the sooner I get mine Grin

chri55ie · 19/01/2021 11:53

I reckon uptake will depend on age. The older you are the higher the uptake...be interesting to see if that’s the case.

PuzzledObserver · 19/01/2021 11:55

The Zoe team have done a video about how they're going to work out how well and how quickly the vaccines protect from infection, which is great.

I've just emailed them to ask if they are going to analyse the data to see how well you are protected from reinfection after having Covid. They must be able to do it - and they have far more data than that SIREN study.

This really made me smile on a very bleak Tuesday 😂 so thank you.
FuzzyPuffling · 19/01/2021 12:13

DH and I have been wondering about vaccination songs. We're going for Mick Jagger ( for you Scottish folk) singing "I can't get no...vaccination"

Sevensilverrings · 19/01/2021 12:14

(Lurker popping in)
The omni calc also pays no attention to age if under 50. I know this because I checked for my son, and it spouted the same dates as for me, and I’m almost 50. I think this is good news for those of us in our 40s, or even 30s, because it should mean we are at the closer end of the estimate it gives (although obviously behind whoever they next prioritise). I like to celebrate the tiny wins...! (Although I think it’s quite a blunt tool really isn’t it)!

FuzzyPuffling · 19/01/2021 12:16

Are vaccination taking longer at the moment because all the older people have to take off seven layers of anoraks before being approached with needles? ( Not that I blame them, especially waiting in outdoor queues)
In warmer weather, arms will be pre exposed.

Flipping heck, I can’t believe how much it’s jumped with regards to my estimate - that has made me really happy this morning!
TeaInTheGarden · 19/01/2021 12:21

Great news the omnicalcualtor is now accepting up to 1,000,000 per day. Imagine that!

2020CanDoOne · 19/01/2021 12:32

From the Guardian:

Schools are likely to see a phased reopening, based on region, rather than in one fell swoop with a lifting of lockdown, according to England’s deputy chief medical officer Jenny Harries.

She told MPs on the education committee that where infection rates were already dropping in areas like London schools were likely to reopen sooner than elsewhere in the country, depending on infection levels.

There was also lots of good evidence on the disastrous impact of school closures on children’s health and wellbeing, a strong defence of the role of lateral flow tests in schools and a call for schools to be allowed to gradually reopen, while the rest of society remains in lockdown as soon as infection levels allow.

This is good news I think in that at least some schools should start opening earlier than the after Easter predictions, (which have not helped my positive outlook one bit).

2020CanDoOne · 19/01/2021 12:33

I’m in Hampshire so I don’t think we’d be in the first round, but any open schools is good new for me!

Brunt0n · 19/01/2021 12:35

If the southern schools reopen before the north I’ll have to come off social media, cant take any more whining about southern bias!
