I am sceptical as well but giving it a go in a few pilot places seems like a reasonable idea. I cynically think they know it won’t work and are only doing it to shut up the critics but it’s one of those things where being proved wrong would be great!

FourTeaFallOut · 20/01/2021 14:35

We’ll have to wait and see. I actually think people will book night time slots if it’s advertised as getting vaccinations done quicker and getting back to normal sooner. I certainly would

I agree, I would too - I didn't mean to put the mockers on it. I think it's good they are trialling it, it's worth having a little faith in people rather than just assume it will be more trouble than it's worth and not even bother. We'd never do anything new if we needed a guarantee of it working before it even started.

carolinesbaby · 20/01/2021 14:48

Place Errrrr marking in a happy place.

Truelymadlydeeplysomeonesmum · 20/01/2021 14:55

@FourTeaFallOut

It'll be interesting to see how that goes. I know some people seemed highly sceptical about the use value in a 24/7 vaccine hub concerned that people won't book a night time slot or they won't turn up on time. It's one of those things that just has to be tried to find out.
Your right.

I am definitely sceptical about if it will work out withe the first 4 priority groups. However think it a good idea for the younger groups. So as it doesn't effect staffing levels during the day of course.

Sebw · 20/01/2021 14:55

Wow love this Smile

Thanks

herecomesthsun · 20/01/2021 14:59

Vaccination rates looking promising then.

starfish88 · 20/01/2021 15:00

That's good to see we are on track, hopefully it continues and gets better. I'm having a really down day and went over to the bad place. I know logically it will get better, I mean I've already had my first vaccine (not in the UK, I got the sinopharm if anyone is interested) so globally things are looking up. But it doesn't always feel that way. I need Marzipan!

Truelymadlydeeplysomeonesmum · 20/01/2021 15:01

Oh don't you love some positive mathsSmile

That is very good to hear

Thank you

Glad to see this thread is still going - and very quickly too! Found out yesterday that I'm getting the vaccine tomorrow! (I work in social care). Anxious about side effects but realistically I know that most people are fine and I'm focusing on the long term effects. Will give me some peace of mind as, although I'm not in a vulnerable group, I've certainly been feeling more anxious over the last couple of months, probably more than I need to be.

Sister and nearly all my grandparents have had vaccine too - was surprised how quickly we all were called!

MarcelineMissouri · 20/01/2021 15:48

Re: 24 hour vaccinations, I wish they could do priority groups during the day and younger non-priority but key worker eg school staff and police overnight. So coming at it from both ends so to speak. Probably too risky from a supply perspective though

TheChineseChicken · 20/01/2021 15:52

Is Novavax two jabs or one?

TheChineseChicken · 20/01/2021 15:53

That was super lazy - have googled

theyips · 20/01/2021 15:58

Hi, I’d like to join the thread Smile
My good news is that a disused theatre near me has started as a vaccination centre, walked the dog past there today and I was so excited to see the car park mostly full and people going in and out. Felt like a great big beam of hope on a grey drizzly day.

Definitely makes perfect sense if they do have the supplies
Delatron · 20/01/2021 16:03

Just heard in the news they are trialing 24 hour vaccinations at some hospitals in Birmingham. Mainly for health care workers. Sounds good though

Delatron · 20/01/2021 16:04

Sorry. Seen that’s already been discussed! I

LetItGoGo · 20/01/2021 16:05

My life is so dull I'd go watch a local vaccination site in action! It would cheer me up no end.

...from afar naturally😄

TheCountessofFitzdotterel · 20/01/2021 16:09

If it wasn’t for consent issues someone could set up a vaxcam!
