@littleowl1

The www.covidmessenger.com table showing daily cases in councils in England is looking very green folks!

(green means falling cases)

Click the Week-over-Week (W-o-W) column and look at all that green!

156 councils with falling cases w-o-w
159 councils with rising cases w-o-w

That is very different than a few weeks ago when the whole table was red!

It wasnt long

I came on here to say exactly this. Was pleasantly surprised this morning to see just how much the “greens” had increased from a week ago. It’s given me a real boost this morning!

@BigWoollyJumpers

I suspect a great many more vaccinations have actually occured than officially counted at this time. There are continuing problems with all the different systems handling this data within the NHS (as always), so expect the actual number to be higher as time goes on, and the data catches up.
That’s a really good point BigWoollyJumpers. Maybe there will be high blips occasionally in the future where they find a few thousand more down the side of the sofa cushions.

Loads of positive charts and numbers for anyone who wants to watch the progress and see how it has sped up!

It shows how many have had at least 1 dose as well as how many doses have been administered.

Almost 5 percent of the country had been vaccinated as of the 13th! A couple of weeks ago it was less than 1 percent!

Thanks for making this place! Love knowing we are over the 3 million mark.

I dont often look on covid messenger, but just had a quick look. I'm in the north and my area is still rising. However, the other day they rose by 11, this morning it was 3. So looks like a steadying going on.

@SaveWaterDrinkGin - thank you for calming me down about the new strain. I know it’s what viruses do but I still panic when the media reports it the way they do!
Thanks @littleowl1 - for the stats - definitely a positive trend 😊

Me too Chinese Chicken. Hugs to you.

Cornwall made it onto sky news this morning with it's "rapidly increasing infection rate". My friends 99 year old MIL has still not been invited for vaccination. Sometimes I feel like I am living in a different country to most of the people on MN.

Sorry, feeling very glum.

@slidingdrawers but it will eventually massively decrease the risk. I know the flu vaccine isn’t anywhere near 100% effective, but I don’t not hug my mum each winter for fear of giving her flu. I use common sense, wouldn’t visit her if I were ill for example. And the COVID vaccination programme should reduce it to that level. Most of us will be vaccinated, it will be circulating in much lower levels than it is now and yes it will sadly still kill some people, the way flu does, but it won’t be impacting on our lives in the same way it has done for the last year. I don’t think there’s anything unrealistic about feeling positive about that.

Hang in there @FuzzyPuffling my area is still on the rise too (NW) but we will get there. The peak isn’t very far away. Be kind to yourself today.

Flowers I’m sure things will improve in Cornwall soon, following the pattern of other areas - it’s just that the last areas to be hit are the last to recover
Inastatus · 15/01/2021 13:43

@FuzzyPuffling - my area is still rising too (Dorset) but don’t forget it’s because we are a bit behind the South East and the North so haven’t quite reached the peak yet. I think we can take hope from what is happening elsewhere and know that things will start to stabilise in our areas very soon.
