Fuzzy Hopefully you’ll see a drop soon.
My area in the West Midlands (although we’re quite rural) was at 54 per 100k a month ago and by Tuesday this week it was up to 863 😳 Wednesday saw it at 837 and last night it was 796. Still frighteningly high but a little reassuring to see slightly lower numbers. Fingers crossed.

chri55ie · 15/01/2021 14:09

Nearly 280,000 doses administered yesterday!

chri55ie · 15/01/2021 14:10

Ooo just realised thats just for England too!

MoltenLasagne · 15/01/2021 14:14

Cases are still rising where we are but from a much lower base (nowhere near half London figures per 100k) and it seems like the rate of increase is slowing as well.

Frazzled2207 · 15/01/2021 14:34

Not necessarily good news for here and I think there are doubts about the Sinovac but I was astonished by this statistic (Guardian). Clearly one can get ones sh*t together when one is sufficiently organised.

Turkey has vaccinated more than 500,000 people against Covid in the first two days of administering jabs developed by Chinese biotech company Sinovac, according to health ministry data.Ankara launched the nationwide programme on Thursday, vaccinating health workers first, and inoculated more than 285,000 people on the first day. Around midday GMT, the total was 523,338, making it one of the world’s speediest initial rollouts. The government has said the rapid pace has been helped by a nationwide distribution of the vaccines at the start of the week, and also by digitised health records and hospital services.

FourTeaFallOut · 15/01/2021 14:43

That is a super fast pace from a standing start. Impressive.

FuzzyPuffling · 15/01/2021 14:57

Thank you lovelies.

In the middle of the night the other night, I was listening to the World Service (as I often do) and they were talking about Indonesia and their vaccination policy. Unlike everywhere else in the world, they are choosing to vaccinate younger workers first. (Controversial)

I shall be really interested to hear how they get on. I guess they're prioritising their economy over hospital admissions and deaths.

I was chatting (from the required distance!!) with my neighbour earlier who works at our large City hospital, she is usually doom and gloom about anything Covid but today even she was starting to be positive that things were turning a corner!

That small thing cheered my day!

DobbyTheHouseElk · 15/01/2021 15:18

Fuzzy I’m not far away from Cornwall and it’s similar here. Sending you love and hope. Stay tucked up a bit longer.

PoppiesinOctober · 15/01/2021 15:24

Placemarking. Have fallen down a dark hole lately and desperately need some positivity.

FourTeaFallOut · 15/01/2021 15:29

@chri55ie

Nearly 280,000 doses administered yesterday!
I can't believe how many they did considering all the disruption from the snow, surely that must mean we are over 300k for the UK? I'm guessing so but I'll wait for the full data later.

Yes, Fuzzy, I saw that Indonesia is coming at the problem from another direction. It'll be interesting to see how that goes.

Doh

You too Dobby. We've had our daily walk and the sun has been shining today, which made me think Spring is on the way. There'll be lambs soon!

Sadly, Zoe says cases up again and 14 of 15 ITU beds in Cornwall are full. But we go to Plymouth or Barnstaple anyway!

Frazzled2207 · 15/01/2021 15:53

Oops just realised this is old news. Sorry!

Truelymadlydeeplysomeonesmum · 15/01/2021 15:55

Just super positive news this morning isn't it. All that green is marvellous!

I know some of your areas are still rising but it definitely is like someone has already said a ripple effect. First lockdown it did that too.

Hadn't thought about the reporting system for vaccinations. Love the idea of some gathering up somewhere and we are then going to get a sudden bundle of then added Smile

BigWoollyJumpers · 15/01/2021 16:00

Loving the set up at the Guildford Superdrug - very well behaved olds all sitting in individual booths Grin.

FourTeaFallOut · 15/01/2021 16:07

Oh, oh apparently a watched pot does boil, just saw the dashboard update to 3,234,946 for first doses.

thatgingergirl · 15/01/2021 16:08

Those pictures are great BigWoollyJumpers. I wasn't sure that an average High Street chemist would be able to set up for the vaccination programme, but that all looks so well organised!

I read a story in the paper this morning of a woman born in 1919 and being found at one month old lying next to her mother who had Spanish Flu and was unable to look after the baby. She's just had her Covid vaccination. DH thought I was bonkers as I dissolved into tears reading it!

TeaInTheGarden · 15/01/2021 16:12

That’s officially more first doses than confirmed cases!

Whatever9999 · 15/01/2021 16:15

0.3 million people vaccinated yesterday, that would make 2.3million a week if it's kept up

louisejxxx · 15/01/2021 16:15

What a brilliant number of vaccinations given out in the last 24 hours - I really do hope the government are able to smash the target into smithereens.

More vacs than cases has just made me well up (it’s not hard at the minute)

TeaInTheGarden · 15/01/2021 16:17

We are taking the lead in this race for sure.

FuzzyPuffling · 15/01/2021 16:18

My friend just posted a picture of vaccinations taking place in Lichfield Cathedral. Fabulous venue for a jab.
