@Truelymadlydeeplysomeonesmum - 😂

FourTeaFallOut · 12/01/2021 21:53

I need to stay here, in my happy place, before I am jettisoned from MN altogether.

flameprincess · 12/01/2021 21:54

Thank you for this thread, I'm really struggling with the rest of Mumsnet at the moment!

SaveWaterDrinkGin · 12/01/2021 21:59

I left Mumsnet during the March lockdown as I just couldn’t deal with the muppetry. Only just returned and would have been off again pretty sharpish of it wasn’t for this thread. I’ve got it bookmarked and don’t even look at the main boards now. My mental health isn’t worth risking!

chri55ie · 12/01/2021 22:10

@SaveWaterDrinkGin I am exactly the same. Won’t find me anywhere else now! I actually think people enjoy telling everyone that the end is nigh

Peggyslantern · 12/01/2021 22:16

Did people see the Mail article today about how a smaller proportion of young people are dying with this peak (so far. I know things might change). It has gone down from about 5% to around 3% I think. I can't now find the article but it was there this morning.

tobee · 12/01/2021 22:18

Do you think those doom muppets are genuine people? I sometimes wonder if some troll comes on (or even a bot) and then people get swept up in the frenzy. Even if you're stout of heart (Grin), like us on here, it can induce a little wobble.

Feel like any trolly eyes lurking 👀 on here would love that above sentence. I hate it on Mumsnet when you become aware that posters are checking up on a thread.

tobee · 12/01/2021 22:19

Although having said that, the endless and repetitive hysteria make you become inured.

BolloxtoGender · 12/01/2021 22:26

I think many seem to enjoy being hysterical in public in a perverse sort of way.

But yes, bots. It’s psychological warfare meant to send the west deranged.

BolloxtoGender · 12/01/2021 22:29

I like hanging out here and feminist chat.

I absolutely think people do it for a reaction/fun. One I’m thinking of who I mentioned before was appalling....CD.

Btw how can you see if someone is reading the thread? X

FourTeaFallOut · 12/01/2021 22:30

I just can't sit on my hands. I just can't bear that shit to go unchallenged. It's like seeing a landmine and worrying some poor vulnerable bastard will just step on it.

Yes I saw that too

Very good news

sashagabadon · 12/01/2021 22:34

Yes I do think some are “professional”. You see some names over and over with the same gloomy message relentlessly then they are gone. Some are genuine of course too.
You see it with regards to pushing lockdown, wanting schools to close, the Oxford vaccine ( in particular) spreading doom and then they vanish.

BolloxtoGender · 12/01/2021 22:37

Conspiracy theory trigger warning.

FourTeaFallOut · 12/01/2021 22:39

Have you noticed how quickly everything recedes once it happens though?

The moment lockdown is called as is no longer in doubt then all the "look at the economy you muppets - we just have to live with it' crowd disappear and then up pop the "the schools will never open again" crowd to take the next shift? Yeah, obviously some are still around but where are all their mates from two weeks ago filling whole threads in hours?

Truelymadlydeeplysomeonesmum · 12/01/2021 22:39

I think it is mostly posters that get some kind of a kick worrying people.

Some bloody miserable posters that will never find happiness in anything and always see the negative.

And I have definitely spotted at least two poster that I think are furry hat vodka drinkers. On here to cause public unrest.

Oh and the odd journalist after fanning up a lazy story.

sashagabadon · 12/01/2021 22:47

Don’t look now but a new one has just popped up about long Covid!
It’s the night shift clocking on Grin

HalfDutchGirl · 12/01/2021 22:58

@sashagabadon I just saw that thread, I retreated very quickly as my fingers just wanted to respond by telling her to fuck off back to the deep dark hole that she'd obviously just emerged from. Happy days!

chri55ie · 12/01/2021 23:00

I think that thread must be a wind up....

MarshaBradyo · 12/01/2021 23:04

Ah it’s bad on here. Sometimes I engage to try and divert but sometimes not. Trouble is the site is so skewed as people post more doom.

Pomegranatespompom · 12/01/2021 23:05

Definitely some posters aggressively pushing an agenda with a few mates that gang up on anyone vaguely positive. Tbh I don’t know why they do it, people stop engaging and I don’t think it makes anyone really change their views.

FourTeaFallOut · 12/01/2021 23:06

It's a banned poster, it's getting pulled now.

I was just coming on to post about that! Turns out they're a previously banned poster and it's being taken down.

Honestly people get their "jollies" in a very strange way. Or else it pays extremely well.

X post!

Noticed threads are leaking more and more out of the coronavirus boards! Hmm
