Why can't people just think of others!

Why can't people just follow the guidance and stay at home?
Seen it too much in the news about busy beaches, towns etc.
The sooner everyone does as they are told the quicker we will be out of this!
Trust me I'd love to take my family on an outing to the beach, could quite easily 'exercise' and go for a walk there but putting my family at risk is the last thing on my mind!
I'm protecting mine - please everyone protect yours too!

I concur! I’m getting cross that everyone thinks it’s someone else’s problem.. “I was at the beach today and there were people everywhere” huffs.

Erm you were at the beach too.. you’re part of the problem. Go the f home!

Sparklingbrook · 10/01/2021 21:11

Some people don't like being told what to do. Some people don't understand 'guidelines' and need things to be 'law' before they will comply. Some people just don't care about anyone else I suppose.

We just have to do what we can to protect ourselves and those close to us.

hamstersarse · 10/01/2021 21:15

When you see the deliberately skewed pictures of beaches and one-off cases of gatherings, is there any part of you that questions the extent of the problem?

Also, when you hear that most cases are contracted in hospitals or care homes...does that register as to how large this problem with people sitting on a bench is?

PurpleDaisies · 10/01/2021 21:16

You’re allowed out to exercise. If you’re local to a beach, crack on. If not, stay local to exercise.

It would be really helpful to have a clearer definition of what local actual means in terms of distance so the police can enforce the law without demonising people who aren’t doing anything wrong.

higglepiggley · 10/01/2021 21:17

I'm going to continue to go for walks.
It's important for my child to get some fresh air

PurpleDaisies · 10/01/2021 21:18

Why can't people just follow the guidance and stay at home?

Do you literally mean at home or stay local to exercise?

Vinorosso74 · 10/01/2021 21:21

So many people think their needs trump those of others. ILs have managed to get their eldest DC a school place as they can't work with them at home (youngest is in nursery). They're both able to work from home and it's a struggle for everyone!!! They don't see they're adding to the problem of more kids in school.
I'm sick of being at home, going for the same walks, home schooling and exciting trip out is to the supermarket or Boots.
It's people going on a family trip to the supermarket which gets me or a wander around the garden centre. I don't see the beach as big an issue as it's outside.

Aworldofmyown · 10/01/2021 21:23

Oh the irony 🙄

gooseygander88 · 10/01/2021 21:23

@PurpleDaisies oh no I don't mean stay at home I mean stay local. To which some people would be the beach which I wouldn't have anything against if they can walk there/not far to travel but it's seeing people traveling hours to go to the beach that's what annoys me!

@higglepiggley I'm not meaning stay at home, I'm implying people to stay local etc not mix in groups/going out for the day to the beach if you get me. I'm going out for walks with my family to, like yourself my children need it but I'm not putting anyone else at risk!

In our local area there's so many teens meeting up with friends, but that's another story!

Surely stay local local means, leave your house and walk or run or cycle for bit, not grab coffees and drive for miles to a local beauty spot, potentially endangering coffee sellers and others on the road, breakdown services or emergency services if you have an accident. Stay home and not spread the virus means that really. It's gobsmacking so many don't seem to understand this.

tatutata · 10/01/2021 21:26

I am. I also think people are catching it at work in the factories supermarkets and warehouses that ensure I can eat and buy stuff off amazon. We're all selfish ultimately.

gooseygander88 · 10/01/2021 21:26

@Avondklok that's my point exactly!!!

Oh ffs - “the sooner everyone obeys the sooner we’re out of it” comments are ridiculous!

Not true at all.

People are getting it in workplaces, care homes, schools, care homes and hospitals. COVID will not just suddenly disappear if we all stay home

secretllama · 10/01/2021 21:30

The sooner everyone does as they are told the quicker we will be out of this!

Not true.

hamstersarse · 10/01/2021 21:31

I wonder when people will realise they can’t control what other people do

Littlewhitedove2 · 10/01/2021 21:31

Have you grown your own veg and animals for meat OP? Do you source your own water, bury your waste? Do you provide your own light and heat? Are you totally self sufficient? If not, then you are expecting others to go out and put themselves in danger just to provide you with food, waste collection, water and sewerage, lighting and heat. Very selfish.

HermannlovesPauline · 10/01/2021 21:31

Care homes twice there but you get my drift

RufustheSniggeringReindeer · 10/01/2021 21:31

Stay home means stay home

Stay local means you can leave the house but stay local

People should stop saying stay home if they actually mean stay local

Its fucking confusing

I don’t know whether to be pissed at people! 😀

gooseygander88 · 10/01/2021 21:32

@secretllama so if everyone done what they wanted we would would we?

OP posts:
PurpleDaisies · 10/01/2021 21:33

oh no I don't mean stay at home I mean stay local.

Well, it might have been a good idea to say that in your op. Most people agree with stag local. Stay at home full time is a very different proposition.

HermannlovesPauline · 10/01/2021 21:33

Eh?!

I think you need to take a chill pill op

RufustheSniggeringReindeer · 10/01/2021 21:34
@secretllama so if everyone done what they wanted we would would we?
I didnt say that did I?

But by saying if everyone followed the rules we would be out of this is just simply not true. As much as you want to believe it.

gooseygander88 · 10/01/2021 21:35

Wasn't asking for an argument, just expressing all the drama you see on the news!
The government are asking people to stay home to save lives that's all I'm saying!
Understand people need to work - I caught bloody covid at work! I'm trying to protect others and express does a day out at the beach really justify it???
Yes if you live local by all means! But common!

I've been told: 'it's just a flu' 'it's blown out of proportion'.
