Are they incredibly quiet now in lockdown or fairly ok?

Pretty normal where I am. Most shops in town are shut but still a fair few people wandering about. Supermarkets are quieter than usual though but they have been for a long time now.

cadburyegg · 07/01/2021 22:29

I haven't been out of our village since Monday but locally it's definitely much quieter than usual

User647647 · 07/01/2021 22:31

Haven’t been I’m out but live next to a road that is pretty busy in one direction in the afternoon with people driving back home from work and it’s as busy as always.

Aroundtheworldin80moves · 07/01/2021 22:33

I had a conversation with a squirrel earlier. That was the nearest I got to seeing another person bar my own family today.

It appears I live in a ghost town at the moment. I'm venturing to the supermarket tomorrow, so that will be actual real people.

Definitely quieter here.

TitInATrance · 07/01/2021 22:39

Quieter - I live in a city. Some traffic on the main roads at commuting and school times, only a little during the day.

The parks are heaving with pedestrians though.

Glitterblue · 07/01/2021 22:40

I've not been out all week but people on Facebook have said it's been ridiculously busy.

DoThePropeller · 07/01/2021 22:41

Pretty busy, certainly not noticeably quieter. Live in suburbia.

mynameiscalypso · 07/01/2021 22:42

Not as many cars about but probably the same number of people out and about on foot. It's definitely not like the first lockdown not least because people don't seem to look so terrified at being out of the house as they did at the start.

percheron67 · 07/01/2021 22:44

Very quiet. Like the first lockdown. Buses running - arriving and leaving empty. A few people exercising and being very polite and careful when meeting others on the street.

MossandRoy · 07/01/2021 22:45

No idea, not been out since Sunday!

Theunamedcat · 07/01/2021 22:47

Busy as soon as he announced lockdown the cars flooded onto the roads then it snowed more cars flooded out Iceland was emptied literally no broccoli in the dam shop 😳 actually even now I can hear streams of traffic going past ive no idea why! The shops are open there is food there people are acting like locusts for no reason

HibernatingTill2030 · 07/01/2021 22:47

Went out to Tesco earlier and streets were really quiet- much less traffic. Tesco also fairly quiet (although v high amount of people not observing any social distancing- eg coming to stand right next to me instead of waiting for me to pick up my cheese and move on first drove me mad!)

Theunamedcat · 07/01/2021 22:47

Im not on a "main" road as such and its usually really quiet late at night

HibernatingTill2030 · 07/01/2021 22:48

Oh, and I live in a pretty large and normally busy commuter town into a city (relevant as the vast majority here are WFH)

QueenOfTheDoubleWide · 07/01/2021 22:48

I live in a seaside town and think we are as busy, if not busier, than usual. I suspect that people are driving to walk on the beach or promenades

480Widdio · 07/01/2021 22:52

I live in the Midlands near the A 38,it is as busy as normal.Went for a Covid test today and the town was busy, loads of shoppers at the Retail Park.

scrivette · 07/01/2021 22:59

There seems to be lots more people, particularly families, out walking but the roads seem pretty quiet.

Superstardjs · 07/01/2021 23:04

Had to go out for Click and collect- 2 mile journey took me 40 mins, tho admittedly was rush hour (London). No change here!

CarpeVitam · 07/01/2021 23:04

Road traffic pretty much the same-wouldn't know we're in lockdown 🤷‍♀️

crimsonlake · 07/01/2021 23:27

I am really shocked at my area as it does not seem like lock down at all.
Same amount of traffic as usual really when I travel to and from work and yes I am a key worker and cannot work form home.
Friends who are teachers are really struggling with so many childen turning up at school. In my North West area at least I am really concerned that this lockdown is being ignored and things will get worse.

Em777 · 07/01/2021 23:28

Really quiet. It hasn’t been this quiet since the first few days of lockdown one. I’m in a town in Kent with a very high death rate, I think maybe the penny has finally, finally dropped.

HeronLanyon · 07/01/2021 23:35

I went outside yesterday (previous Saturday!) and was surprised how many people were about. In groups chatting - looked like work colleagues not eg family groups. Central London. I actually thought ‘bloody hell ive been inside for days and this has been going on?’

Murinae · 07/01/2021 23:41

Our main dual carriageway into the city centre is busier than first lockdown but not as busy as it was before covid.

caringcarer · 07/01/2021 23:44

I love in large village 3 miles from town and in our road hardly any traffic. My son said he only saw a handful of cars whilst driving home from work. He is sometimes caught up in traffic. I think I've the cold and ice encouraging people not to drive unless essential too. Plus less parents driving to schools.

TheGreatWave · 07/01/2021 23:49

DH had to go to the hospital to take some clothes for his Mum, he said the roads weren't too bad despite having to drive in the direction of the coast. Mind it has been freezing cold and raining all day so not a day for the beach.

We had to go down to her house yesterday to get the said clothes and the roads were quieter than usual especially given it was usual rush hour time. Also Tuesday I had to pop up to work and the roads, though busy were not as busy as usual.
