A question for you CEVers (too scared to ask it generally!) regarding the free Vitamin D. Has anyone had theirs yet, or heard anything about it? DH applied for his weeks ago and I thought it was supposed to be sent out in January?

(I know it's not the end of the world and we usually buy our own, but it would be nice! And might help to offset the high cost of grocery deliveries!)

I got a letter but I just ignored it. I prefer my vitamin d spray with a higher dose.

My cev Dh gets a vitamin d supplement (Alfacalcidol) as part of his meds anyway. Has done for a while as part of his dialysis meds.

Fuzzy I applied for some for me and my son. Like you, I usually buy it but seeing as we’re not getting anything else free I thought we might as well take up this offer.
Neither of us have heard anything since, let alone received any. I’m sure it said that there’d be an email reply once the details entered had been checked out?

Didn’t our friend Matt say he was working quickly to make sure that any CEV had a supply of it? 🤨

tobee · 09/01/2021 16:30

That's disappointing that you haven't heard back.

sashagabadon · 09/01/2021 16:39

Just read on bbc the Queen and Prince Philip had their jabs today. Great news!

TheCountessofFitzdotterel · 09/01/2021 17:37

My dad has a vaccine appointment for later in the week. Feeling a bit emotional.

tobee · 09/01/2021 17:52

👍

AlexandraEiffel · 09/01/2021 17:56

My dad (75) has his appointment for later in the week. Made me very emotional. My mum is 74 so has to wait a bit.

FuzzyPuffling · 09/01/2021 19:09

They haven't even started doing the over 80s in the community here yet. The surgery just put something on facebook saying "sorry, we've got another batch but it's not much and it's all going to care homes. Don't ring us, we'll ring you when we get some more. Don't know when that will be. Sorry".

I am coincerened at the postcode lottery of the vaccination programme.

There was a report on "localish" news yesterday about an area (or surgery, not sure) in Gloucester who proudly said, " we've done all our over 80s, we're starting on the younger age groups now and we'll have all the over 50s done in another month". That really doesn't seem in the spirit of the thing.

Sorry that's not very cheerful is it!

Fuzzy that can’t be right. I mentioned before mil had her vaccine 3 weeks ago. Not CEV or in a care home. Hail and hearty and fit.

My own DP’s haven’t had their vaccine, similar age. Health issues, but different location.

FuzzyPuffling · 09/01/2021 19:22

I wonder if it depends which surgery she's at/ (I did think of your MIL, Dobby)
Is she at the one named after the river or the one near the cottage hospital?
(It shouldn't matter as it's a group thing, but who knows?)

There s such a high proportion of older people here we probably need twice as much vaccine (proportionally) as London for example.

FuzzyPuffling · 09/01/2021 19:23

Ah, another thought Dobby...did your MIL get Pfizer? Maybe they used Pfizer for staff and community and now have some OxAZ which they can use in care homes?

Ooh that's exciting! That means they must have done everyone over 80 in your area. That's very good news. Whereabouts?

tobee · 09/01/2021 20:03

Just saw on YouTube an Evening Standard video of a huge socially distanced queue of people at GP surgery to get their jabs! 💉 👍

FifeQuine · 09/01/2021 20:04

We live in a smallish town in Scotland. (Clue in the username....) DH had to visit the doctor this week (he has shingles!!) and the doctor told him that all over 80s in this area will be done next week, then they'll start on the next group. They are ready to go. Very positive!!

FuzzyPuffling · 09/01/2021 20:04

See, that's lovely for individuals, but postcode lottery for other areas where the over 80s have scarcely been touched yet, and there's no further availability of vaccines.

What could the country do about the inconsistencies?

I wonder if they should do over 80s i areas, then stop and send any vaccines to areas where the over 80s haven't been done yet. Just so there is more equality country wide. I dread there being a north/south divide. (Or a SE/ everywhere else divide)

Pleased that they are powering through to the over 70s in some areas. It seems to vary massively but all going in the right direction..

Delatron · 09/01/2021 20:12

I don’t think they’ve even started on over 80s here! Next week apparently.
