I totally agree with a PP, right now we are, I believe, in the eye of the storm, but oddly, I'm starting to feel slightly more optimistic about things. I'm hopeful that two weeks from today things will be looking quite a bit brighter.

I'm tired of people comparing this lockdown to the last one and that the public aren't so compliant. So much has changed since then. I believe that a lot of the public are being compliant but a lot of companies have gone back to office based and also so many stores offering click and collect and also takeaways all now being open (remember the queues at McDonalds when they eventually re-opened). It seems we're a little stuck between a rock and a hard place.

On a brighter note, I'm an area coordinator for our town's isolation group. In March we were inundated with people wanting assistance - shopping, prescriptions, food parcels etc etc. My little team of volunteers are ready and raring to go for this lockdown and as yet (fingers crossed) we have had no requests for help :)

The Covid Zoe app is reporting reduction in cases two days in a row in England 🤞

Thank you for this thread.

For my sanity I've pulled up my anchor from 'the other threads' and have sailed here for hope and positivity.

My positive news is that my FB feed is full of posts from ex colleagues who've had their vaccinations (HCP). They deserve this so much.

tobee · 09/01/2021 15:07

The Queen and Prince Philip vaccinated today

tobee · 09/01/2021 15:14

Yay and my parents got Pfizer this lunchtime.

I expect HMQ and Duke of Edinburgh are saying to themselves how special that they got their vaccine on the same day as tobee's parents! Grin

TheChineseChicken · 09/01/2021 15:15

Lots of posts on our local FB page today talking about their / their relatives’ positive experiences at the local vaccination hub. Feels encouraging to know that local people are being ‘done’!

chri55ie · 09/01/2021 15:17

@tobee

The Queen and Prince Philip vaccinated today
No idea why but that makes me feel happy!
tobee · 09/01/2021 15:18

It's great publicity at the very least @chri55ie !

So who's going to audition for Eurovision and who for Love Island? So many decisions! 🤔

Inastatus · 09/01/2021 15:19

Talking to my group of 5 friends on a group chat and all their elderly parents have now been vaccinated 😊.

An extended stay in a fancy villa in the sunshine does sound pretty tempting right now..!
TeenPlusTwenties · 09/01/2021 15:23

I'm thinking it seems quite late for HRHs to be done. I'm wondering whether they said to be held back until at least 90% of their age group were already vaccinated to ensure there weren't accusations of being pushed forwards.

chri55ie · 09/01/2021 15:26

Yes I thought the same- it’s a good message to send that they haven’t queue jumped

Yes I think this too.

Anyway they now may have a nice badge or sticker with a crown on Grin

Lovely

FifeQuine · 09/01/2021 15:33

I actually enjoyed Eurovision more in 2020 when they did a sort of quieter version.

In other news, I've just been told off on another forum for going to buy milk and bread. Apparently we should only be going out for hospital appointments and to visit the chemist. Guess I'll have to starve then. Grin

My 93 year old Mum is still waiting for her first jab 🤔
tobee · 09/01/2021 15:42

I was reading last night that it is a bit patchy (roll out). Something about Hampshire doing well for some reason.

🙄 What is the point of these posters going so over the top and winding up as many other people as they can?

MadisonAvenue · 09/01/2021 16:05

@tobee

Yes, it certainly is patchy in my area of the West Midlands. My parents (87 and 85) are still waiting for their first appointments, and they’re registered at different surgeries to each other, while another GP surgery in their small town have now been giving their over 80s their second vaccinations.
Inastatus · 09/01/2021 16:09

@tobee - that explains it, I’m in Hampshire!
@Jaffacakeinmypocket - I hope your mum gets hers soon. It must be so worrying. I no longer have my mum and dad around sadly.

MushMonster · 09/01/2021 16:09

I am sure you have posted about the studies of the immunity against covid lasting at least 9 months, and possibly longer! Those are great news!

MushMonster · 09/01/2021 16:10

The Zoe app showing a decrease is great news to me! I felt really disappointed when I saw a higher new cases number in this morning's figures Sad

Inastatus · 09/01/2021 16:11

@FifeQuine - at least you weren’t thinking of going to get McDonalds takeaway for your kids! That thread has reached new heights of hysteria!!

MushMonster · 09/01/2021 16:12

I think they need to use the Queen's vaccine as an example to follow. As some people are still wary of the vaccine!

starfish88 · 09/01/2021 16:13

My Grandma, in her 90s, just got her appointment through. I'm so glad. And she has agreed to go, she was also worried about taking a vaccine from someone younger and "more deserving" but the strain on the NHS argument brought her round in the end. And my parents have been given some volunteer shifts marshaling in the car park. Hopefully the pace of the vaccination program really picks up now.
