Just for you tobee, here's a local beach. Who doesn't love a beach.

This may well already have been shared but this article about so many places being prepared gave me a bit of a lump in my throat. It sounds like so many places, people and organisations are stepping up to help this vaccination drive go as fast as possible. Which is great news!

What an excellent beach @FuzzyPuffling !

Itching to go and stare into rock pools now

FuzzyPuffling · 05/01/2021 22:03

Something I wondered...there seems to be a small issue with the glass vials for the vaccine. Any reason they can't be recycled..sterilised and refilled? I've not seen this as a suggestion anywhere. ( Probably too much effort, but if you're delivering a box of vaccine, you could pick.up a box of empties?)

Fourtea and Christmas those reports are great!

Inastatus · 05/01/2021 22:11

@FuzzyPuffling - I took this one in Shetland 😊

I was wondering that exact same thing!

Cor! Puffins are big blokes, aren't they? Grin

TheCountessofFitzdotterel · 05/01/2021 22:20

The puffins had all gone when we got to Handa Island but we saw some of our own Yorkshire puffins at Flamborough Head a few years ago.
Unfortunately the Yorkshire Belle, the boat that does the best puffin watching trips, is in financial trouble (sorry, Good News gang) so we are keeping everything crossed they will raise enough money to keep afloat.

FuzzyPuffling · 06/01/2021 08:03

I was surprised how small puffins are. But I like how we've distracted ourselves with puffin chat!

I noticed the Vaccination Minister chap on BBC breakfast this morning. Wondered where he'd been. Hopefully sorting the speedy vaccine programme!

Morning all. Just checking in to my favourite place on the internet.
It’s becoming a morning ritual to sit with coffee in front of my SAD lamp catching up with you lovely lot.
Lots of positive news around at the moment!

Wherediditgo · 06/01/2021 08:18

Forgot to add - this thread sets me up for the day. I feel so much better as I stumble over to my desk and logon Grin

TheCountessofFitzdotterel · 06/01/2021 08:21

I was prepared for them to be small but you normally see pictures of them standing around on rocks all upright like they have stepped off the spine of a Puffin book and did not expect them to be sitting in the water floating around like ducks.

BigWoollyJumpers · 06/01/2021 08:26

Been meaning to join this thread for such a long time. I was looking for a thread that was highlighting how well we are doing on vaccinations. Not one. All others are "raging", "angry", etc etc, it is exhausting trying to counter all the negativity and misinformation.

So, thank you to whomever started this thread, I wish I had followed you earlier.

FuzzyPuffling · 06/01/2021 09:05

Hello BigWoollyJumpers. Lovely user name!

I made the mistake of posting on another thread but I have hidden it now as it’s making me want to bang my head against a brick wall and I am already getting enough of that trying to get ds2 using Teams Grin

I don’t care if people want to be negative themselves, that’s their choice, but the attitude that everyone else must be negative too to the point of irrationality or you will scold and insult them is mad.

I'm going to link to this:

www.telegraph.co.uk/business/2021/01/05/changed-utterly-changed-vaccine-blunder-shook-europe/

Which, at first glance, doesn't really seem like 'good news' unless you get your kick from schadenfreude but, if you read between the gaps, there seems to be an acknowledgement that the health of the nation is absolutely interwoven with the health of the economy and that the speed of our vaccination program may well accelerate the recovery of the economy more generally.

midgebabe · 06/01/2021 10:47

What's nice about this thread is that it couples positivity with common sense. Not doom and gloom but also not ranting and raving about how the whole approach is wrong or unfair nor being positive without evidence

It’s nice to not actually be the worst country for once. We’re actually managing the vaccines quite well, whilst the rest of Europe sounds like a total shit show
Gratefulrunner · 06/01/2021 11:28

Don’t think I’ve posted before but have been watching this thread quite a lot recently! Thank you all for some calm glass half full thoughts Smile

IncludeWomenInTheSequel · 06/01/2021 11:37

Just got a letter from NHS Scotland about the vaccine rollout and had a moment of quiet amazement. It's pretty amazing really.

Deliaskis · 06/01/2021 11:40

A friend of mine who works in the NHS had her jab yesterday, I almost cried (in fact I did a little!). When it starts to feel close, it feels much more real. My Mum and Dad have said they're being a bit more careful for a few weeks because they've now been told they'll be 'done' in January. It means they can't be our childcare bubble anymore but that's OK because it's not for long. Smile
