@sashagabadon

Well done pomegranate. Pfizer or Oxford?
Haha Grin

Would that be the Oxford or Pfizer Madame

Well done Pom! Must feel better to have it

Pomegranatespompom · 05/01/2021 18:57

Gosh can I say as a (livid) remainer I had Pfizer. What does that make me?!

Arm a bit sore and felt slightly achey today.

Also training to be a vaccinator as well as normal NHS job - we are aiming to do a 1000 a week minimum in my trust. Loads of volunteers, so desperate to get as many done as poss.

TeenPlusTwenties · 05/01/2021 19:05

The vaccines are helping my mental state.

DF (90) had his first 3 weeks ago, and yesterday had to be ambulanced to hospital, so at least he has some protection. He'll be there for a few days (they think he had a heart attack a few days ago).

Despite that DM (84 CEV) went for her first vaccine today, so the protection clock is ticking for her too.

thatgingergirl · 05/01/2021 19:09

Oh, I'm sorry to hear that Teen. I hope your DF makes a full recovery. Flowers

TeenPlusTwenties · 05/01/2021 19:11

Thanks. I didn't know whether to post as this is a good news board, but honestly the fact he had the vaccine before Christmas has really helped me worry a bit less. Plus DM getting hers too is good.

IncludeWomenInTheSequel · 05/01/2021 19:13

Our local surgery will start vaccinating over 80s tomorrow. There's currently four cases in our small town which is the highest for a while!

tobee · 05/01/2021 19:14

So sorry to hear that @TeenPlusTwenties .

I was just thinking so many people compare this time to the war and say how crap we all are since then. However, they tend to be the people who don't have an ounce of the blitz spirit about them. Defeatist, miserable fuckers, not interested in coming together as a nation. On a personal help out a fellow poster level.

Pomegranatespompom · 05/01/2021 19:23

@TeenPlusTwenties hope your dad improves very soon.

tobee · 05/01/2021 19:24

Just had a peak at "active" and so many Covid posts are under aibu etc. I tagged onto the end of a thread in site stuff and @ a moderator.

Anyone know of a better way to get Mumsnet to get onto this? I bet lots of us have been asking!

Inastatus · 05/01/2021 19:38

@tootyfruitypickle - that’s very good to hear about adapting vaccines 😊 I must watch it on catch up.

theotherfossilsister · 05/01/2021 19:52

@fuzzypuffling that's so lovely a d optimistic. In June you will wear your dress and the sun will shine and you can maybe sit in a beer garden with a friend. Oh the dream.

tobee · 05/01/2021 20:12

I was just talking to my mum on the phone and saying how lovely it will be having spring to look forward to and vaccinations.

FuzzyPuffling · 05/01/2021 20:23

My first snowdrop flower showed its face today! The primroses are earlier and I have several out now.

We can do this if we don't panic. Be more snowdrop!

Inastatus · 05/01/2021 20:41

@FuzzyPuffling ‘Be more snowdrop’ - love this!

thatgingergirl · 05/01/2021 20:45

Oh OP, I've just properly noticed your user name. Pufflings! I spent a day on Skoma a couple of years back - one of the best days of my life seeing all the puffins and pufflings. So, so want to go back - and I absolutely will once this is all behind us.

(Sorry, off topic!)

midgebabe · 05/01/2021 20:47

We went to handa island once and saw them... it was amazing.

FourTeaFallOut · 05/01/2021 20:51

Not sure if I missed this earlier on this thread or if it was late on the last one. But I had no idea that private companies like Tesco were coming to the logistic party.

OrangeBananaFish · 05/01/2021 21:14

Just checking in to the most important thread around.

My friend posted on FB that she has been vaccinated today (pfeizer). NHS worker. Made me so happy. Now I know someone who has had the vaccine. I have another friend who works in a care home who was a bit cagey when I asked if she had the vaccine yet so I'm not sure if she is going to have it (or is it in the job requirements?) and another friend who works in ICU, but I don't know her well enough to ask her.

Coronavirus Good News tweeted an hour ago with reassurance about the vaccines working still for the U.K. and South African strains. Looking good thank goodness!

This study has analysed CoV2 variants (including UK and South African) for likelihood of current vaccines failing. Author concludes ‘confident current vaccines will be useful for quite a while’.

mrshonda · 05/01/2021 21:31

Thank you Gemma77, that is a bit of good news

tobee · 05/01/2021 21:36

Love you lot!

Haven't even had wine Grin

Re Tesco etc helping out; I'm optimistic because I think there's going to be so much push to get vaccines going as fast as possible ASAP and there are so many things in its favour in comparison to, say, track and trace. Much easier, doesn't rely on apps etc and you just get it on your arm; nothing else required right now. No taking lengthy time off work or have to wait for results and so on.

FuzzyPuffling · 05/01/2021 21:37

Oh that IS good news about the vaccine working on all variants. Yippee!

Puffins.. we went to Lundy to see them. Wonderful. Here's a picture of Lundy, just cos it's jolly nice!

That was a bit rambly, but not such obvious downsides as even taking a test. If you're not an anti vaxxer it's all positive.

tobee · 05/01/2021 21:39

More nice pictures please! I think we need holistic niceness on here! Grin
